  1. If you think this is bad!! It appears that some of you were not around as Angel fans during the 70's and 80's. These past few years have been rather nice compared to some of the teams this organization fielded. And if you are bothered with some of the recent FA pick ups, just remember that Anaheim was once considered a nice warm retirement community for aging MLB stars.
  2. Or even better Milton Bradley.
  3. Agreed Glen, whatever decision the organization makes, I just hope that they do not go after a re-tread. I would also hope that the individual would be someone that was known to play with a fire in their belly. Someone like an Erstad (But not quite Erstad, yet).
  4. I was under the impression that DiPoto is a stats type of guy and looks for players with better than average OBP. Could it be that the philosophies between Sosh and DiPoto have yet to come together? I really think that we have to wait and see if their individual philosphies can be combined and create a winning combination. As for Sosh, he seems to have abandoned the running game and may be trying reestablish what works best for him, the team and the organization.
  5. Let's say that they fire Sosh or some of the coaches. What viable/realistic options are out there?
  6. Torii is way too classy to harbor those kinds of feelings. Besides, I believe Torii feels terrible for the fans that supported him more than anything else.
  7. Who cares?!!! As I said a long time ago when Miguel Cabrera was available. I could care less how these idiot's live their lives. I'm not paying to watch them live their lives, I'm paying to watch them play baseball. We have a justice system that can take care of these idiot's. Wonder how many would have cheered for MCab if he won the Triple Crown as an Angel? If the kid can play, pick him up and see how good a player (not how good a human being) he can be.
  8. I doubt that the LOSERS who are playing him through the PF haven't seeked the opinion of their medical staff to ensure that no other damage can occur. I know plenty of service members who have had PF and were told to only have surgery once they can no longer tolerate the pain. However, I do believe that if he were playing in the NL, he would already be on the DL. Fortunately for us the DH provides a little reprieve.
  9. Anyone know if Puig played on the Cuban National team? If so, he will be more polished than expected. He would have already been exposed to major league pitching while playing in the Carribean Leagues during the MLB off season. I Would absolutely take Trout. But Puig may be the real deal.
  10. It appears to me as more of a systemic problem. I mean, if the coaches did'nt see Corbin's talent potential then how is the GM supposed to make informed decisions regarding trades. I understand that potential is very hard to measure, but you have to ask yourself why Corbin and Segura were able to leave our organization? I know we had just extended Kendrick and Aybar which made Segura expendable. But if anyone had any idea about Segura's talent level then we could have traded Kendrick the year before and saved money on Segura.
  11. Let's not forget that all of the coaches from the 2002 team are now managers. Bud Black (San Diego), Ron Roenicke (Milwaukee) and Joe Maddon (Tampa Bay). Sosh was just the hood ornament on that machine. Since his staff has left.... "Nothing!!" Maddon, from what I understood, was a stats geek that was ahead of his time. Sosh needs to find that chemistry of coaching that he once had and that he could rely on.
  12. I wonder if Torii had anything to do with Trout's success last year? He would take pitches, drop a bunt, hit for power or draw a walk. That is where I believe the biggest issue resides.
  13. What else can be said? Yeah, it sucks!! But there is nothing you can do about the game's that have already been played. Might as well continue to support and stop the whining!!! or you can always just, go away.
  14. I wonder if we had a couple of clutch hits over the last week if this thread would even exist?
  15. He just needs to develop an off speed pitch that he can throw in any count for a strike and he will be fine.
  16. You can put all of this on the Greinke trade. But remember, prior to picking up Greinke we extended both Aybar and Kendrick. So even if we didn't trade for Greinke, I don't see Segura even getting his chance on our club. He would have been playing somewhere else and doing the same thing. At least he is not doing this in the AL.
  17. Not sure why it is so hard to appreciate an awesome effort from an opposing pitcher. The umpire was giving the outside corner and Ryu stayed there, sounds like good pitching to me.
  18. Why players seem to do better when they go elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I understand why the Angels went a different direction this past offseason in regards to Haren and Santana. I just don't understand how they seem to do better after they leave. I feel that our coaching staff is quite inferior when compared to Maddon, Black and Roenicke. The following recent players seemed to have thrived after leaving our organization. LaTroy Hawkins Fernando Rodney Mike Napoli Dan Haren Ervin Santana Tyler Chatwood Vernon Wells
  19. Saw that. Not sure if the 48 saves from last year was an anomaly or that this is the real Rodney.
  20. FRod 2.0 When is Butcher going to make the necessary adjustments? I know, let's trade him and watch a real pitching coach make a few minor changes or just tell him to forget all the adjustments and just pitch. Just like what happened to Fernando Rodney who is now dominating as he did last year.
  21. I say wait until all of the money owed to Wells is off the books then focus on Trout.
  22. Just completed Graduate School and I can now focus my energies on the Angels. The season is now officially allowed to begin. Long winning streak will begin tonight. Go HALOS!!! Carry on.
