Who didn't see that coming? I mean seriously. I actually called first pitch homer, but it took an extra 3 pitches.

So this year, our bullpen has featured:
A 30-year-old with 12.1 innings of MLB experience before this year
A 26-year-old with 4 innings of MLB experience
A 28-year-old with 12 innings of MLB experience before this year
A 30-year-old with a career 4.70 ERA
A guy with 27 innings of minor league baseball under his belt
Our best starting pitching prospect, who has been a disaster since being converted to relief
Billy Buckner
David Carpenter
Barry Enright
Mark Lowe
I mean talk about throwing shit at a wall.

Something insignificant like Travis Witherspoon for a 33-year-old minor league reliever.
-
How has he made the pen worse this year? This year is light years ahead of last year. I know that doesn't mean we were very good this year, but last year was a disaster.
Last year our bullpen had a 3.97 ERA, this year it is 4.02.

What, is Cory Rasmus not enough for you?
-
Sorry if this has been mentioned but why didn't we just wait and sign Rasmus in 3 months?
We basically got nothing of value.
Rasmus is a FA after this year? I'm not very well versed in how club control is determined, but I would have thought that a guy with 6.2 innings of major league ball would have multiple years of club control left.

Great, Hermann again.
-
Why put Frieri in after yesterday's debacle? Not to mention it's a day game after a late appearance in a night game.
-
Kind of hard to say where I'll be in 2019.
-
Iannetta is batting .220 with RISP, Conger is batting .227. Also, Iannetta has 50 at-bats with RISP, while Conger has only 22, so obviously Iannetta will have more RBI's.

This isn't hockey. Run differential doesn't get you into playoffs.
You mean soccer. Goal differential doesn't matter in hockey either.

PS don't trade for Bud Norris. Angels are the only team he shuts down. Any stat guys here tell me Bud's ERA vs. Angels/Rest of league?
0.32 against the Angels, 4.22 against everyone else. Seriously, he's given up one earned run in 28 innings against us. ONE.
-
I wish we lived in some alternate reality where we got to face Rick Porcello, Aaron Harang, and Phil Coke in every game.
-
I'd rather keep Calhoun. He has more value to us than he does on the trade market. I haven't seen him on any top 100 prospect lists, so I doubt he'd get us anything useful in a trade.
-
Had that deal gone down and Marmol was pitching for the Angels, I bet they'd still be trotting his ass out there for every Save opp.
So glad that trade fell through.
We could always pick him up and make him our closer. In fact I bet DiPoto is considering it right now.

Toronto's bullpen is more than a full run better than ours. In fact their top 3 relievers in terms of innings pitched all have an ERA under 2. Their rotation also has more upside, even though they have been struggling just as much as ours so far.

Pomeranz
I'd prefer Arenado
-
Ha...Rangers wanted to resign him actually, but ..but... the Angels came out of nowhere AGAIN!! So,I think there it is..
Well hello there Mr. 1 Post. Nice of you to join us. By the way, this guy is totally not bitter. Nope, not at all.
-
I'm sure he cares; he just sucks.
-
He'll be back in the 2 spot tomorrow, and we all know it.
-
In before you troll us.
Oh crap, too late.
-
He looks good....for now.
Translation: "I really hope he goes into a slump because he's making me look bad"
-
Do what? Give up 7 runs?
