Somehow it wouldn't surprise me if the Pirates offered Taillon and we turned it down. 

As bad as Frieri is, everyone else in the bullpen except for maybe Kohn is even worse. 

Not sure why Toronto would give up a front-line, Major League or MLB-ready starting pitcher when their pitching is an even bigger mess than ours. 

So, predictions for Frieri in the ninth inning? How many pitches before he gives up the game-tying and game-winning homers?

Career numbers are career numbers -- Pointing out the K rates this year because for all the sabermetric beliefs that K rate is a strong indicator of continued success, it often means diddly.  Blanton has posted a K/9 rate over 7.4 since 2009, his ERA over that span has been 5.51  Is a five year sample good enough for you?  

 

You talking up his K rate and ignoring everything else could easily be called a nifty job of cherry picking.   Particularly since the pitcher you're talking up gets to face pitchers 3-4 at bats per game.

 To be fair, he's also the one poster on this board that actually defends Blanton, so I would take it with a grain of salt. 

Green's minor league stats have been consistently good,

I'm guessing we got Chris Resop. He's 30 and has a 6.00 ERA

Cowgill > Hamilton, and that is not even an exaggeration. I'm firmly convinced that Cowgill would outproduce Hamilton over an entire season.

Great idea, let's trade quality players for a guy with a 5.23 ERA who is displaying a distinct downward trend since his one good season. 

The thing that surprised me was that it took 4 batters for Frieri to lose it. I fully expected him to give up homers on the first two pitches of the inning. 

And people though we improved our bullpen from last year.
