  1. Bedrosian on the mound again: 1st batter strikeout 2nd batter fly out 3rd batter strikeout
  2. This exactly. Brandon Sisk spent both 2011 and 2012 in AAA, the hitter-friendly PCL to be more specific. This was his line in 2 seasons there: 99.1 IP 103 SO 1.23 WHIP
  3. Morin - May 2014 Bedrosian - June 2014 Alvarez - September 2014 Sisk - May 2014
  4. Rough outing by Bedrosian: 1.0 IP 2 H 1 BB 2 ER Threw 18 pitches with only 7 being strikes.
  5. The Angels are only one call-up away from being a good team. They are 2 call-ups away from being a great team, and 3 call-ups away from being an elite team.
  6. Understandable concern for Cam's age. Cam seriously should have started the season at AA. Coming from Tommy John they decided to see if he could still end up a starting pitcher. He gave up 14 runs in just 5 innings pitched. When he was converted to reliever he pitched 58 innings with 75 SO's and a 1.2 WHIP. He followed his strong year at IE with a decent showing at the Arizona Fall League facing the top prospects in baseball. He then followed his AFL season with a strong performance with the Angels at Spring Training. Technically Bedrosian doesn't even have a year of Minor League experience under his belt due to his new role. It's not all surprising to see a relief pitcher move quickly through the system either. Drew Storen spent less than a year in the minors before getting called up to the Nationals (41 appearances). Addison Reed had 54 appearances before making his debut with the D'Backs. Cody Allen pitched in 54 games as well before the Indians called him up. Bedrosian so far has pitched in 49 games as a reliever (65.2 IP).
  7. My guess is that Mike Morin would be the first called up among the three. He has been a closer since college (and was one of the best in the nation at UNC). Over his entire minor league career he has struck out just 9.3 batters per nine innings while showing impeccable command with 1.9 BB per nine innings (these numbers would be a lot better if it were not for a tough first year at Orem). Take away his first outing at AAA and his numbers would be 2.2 IP 5 SO 1.3 WHIP. Bedrosian would be a close second to be called up. Bedrosian's numbers are just too hard to ignore. 24.7 K's per nine innings while only walking 2.3 per nine innings. I read a report of his first putting in Arkansas when he struck out all three batters he faced. He put the ball exactly where it needed to be and his fastball was clocked at 93 mph. It's not like he was relying strictly on velocity. He was "pitching". The least ready would be R.J. Alvarez due to concern over his control problems. But looking at his numbers (though a small sample size) he looks to have vastly improved in that area. He had an awful 5.0 BB per nine innings last year and so far this year it is down to 1.9... Control was the only thing holding Alvarez back from making the big leagues and if he continues to prove that it is a thing of the past, he will be up here fast. I am no scout as I am just looking at numbers but I hope this is the case that the numbers speak for themselves. Also there is really no one else in the minors that can help out this pen. Berg has been off to a rough start. Michael Brady (who we got off waivers from the Marlins) just got rocked in his first AAA appearance. Cory Rasmus is their best reliever but he looks like the classic case of heart attack appearance. He strikes out hitters but has walked 7 batters so far in 11 innings.
  8. The title of this thread should be changed to "Better hitters AND BASERUNNERS than David Freese".
  9. If Smith is the closer, that just means Frieri will blow the lead earlier.
  10. He will give his 700th home run ball to the hall.
  11. Brandon Sisk followed Alvarez pitching one inning allowing no hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Having another good year: 6.0 IP 1 H 0 BB 8 SO 0.5 WHIP I honestly believe Sisk is ready to be in the Major Leagues as the lefty in the pen.
  12. He followed with a perfect inning too. Lethal indeed.
  13. Whenever I see Bedrosian's line in the box score:
  14. Bedrosian just pitched: 1.0 IP 0 H 0 BB 3 SO HE STRUCK OUT THE SIDE AGAIN.
  15. Alvarez pitched 2.0 innings in today's game. 2.0 IP 1 H 0 BB 2 SO
  16. Both Green and Lindsey have a homer in today's game so far.
  17. We spent our 5th round pick to get him. I'll be following his progress closely because I feel by next year he could be our top starting pitching prospect. So far in 3 starts (High-A): 17.0 IP 13 SO 6 BB 1,06 ERA 1.059 WHIP
