  1. JK (Chicago) If you were in the Angels, would you just offer Trout 10/250 right now? He's going to make a ton in arb, and this way you are keeping him away from free agency while only locking him up through age 31. And that kind of money would be kind of hard to say no to, right? Klaw (1:25 PM) I'm not sure he'd take it. I've certainly heard enough stories of player discontent with Scioscia that I could see Trout saying screw it, I'll clean up in arbitration and go be a Dodger or a Yankee at age 26.
  2. Paying Albert $30M/yr as a 40 Yr old* is certainly a recipe for success. Go Angels!
  3. Trumbo;s 1st 3 full seasons - 115 OPS+ Rob Deer 1st full 3 seasons - 115 OPS+ Baseball Reference Most Similar comps:
  4. If they don't sing him early and buy out his arb years, it will be interesting to see how much $ he makes in arbitration. He is sooo good, he might command $20M BEFORE he hits FA.
  5. I don't think you are allowed to say that. Also, this thread will need to be scrubbed if Dontrell's wife/ significant other signs up for an account here.
  6. Does the owner really have a say on how much every menu item costs to the fan? Don't they just sub all that out to vendor services?
  7. Of course it was bad, perhaps the worst ever. I don't understand how a ring negates everything else. Should Cardinal and Giants fans be content with a decade of poor play and poor front office decisions because they recently won the WS? It doesn't work that way
  8. The Cards have a 2nd baseman who made the All-Star team, is leading the league in runs scored and doubles, and has a slash of .311/.386/.477. They also have a top-100 prospect, Kolten Wong, at 2nd at AAA with a slash of .298/362/458. How in the world would the Cards be a good fit, and why would they give up stud pitching prospects for Howie and his $10M/yr?
  9. love the Jerome threads, everyone is super nice and complimentary. makes me smile
  10. Does anyone really look at average anymore? Anyway, Stanton is still getting on base at a good clip (his 2013 OBP is .351, career-.350), his problem this year is his slugging. He lead the NL last year @ .608, but is down to .450 this year. Probably injuries, but who knows?
  11. Dusty takes all kinds of heat from everyone who follows baseball. Scioscia, on the other hand, really only gets heat from followers of the Angels. The Angels have been such a mess the last two years, but no one really knows who is accountable for the mess (the GM , the owner). Plus, Scioscia has the ridiculously long contract the prohibits the team from dismissing him. Looking over the list of current managers, I don't see anyone more "overrated" than Mike.
  12. I would put the probability of that rumor being true at about 0%
  13. I wouldnt worry about, Im sure he will rebound to greatness in years 3-10
  14. Utley is one of my favorite players. He is a FA after this year, of course. I can def see the Dodgers trading for him if they can get above .500 before the deadline.
  15. Singlehandedly elevated, huh? In 2000, the year before Pujols' rookie year, the Cards played the Mets in the NLCS. In 2012, the year after Albert left, the Cards played the Giants in the NLCS
  16. People commenting on "Moneyball", the book, because they saw that awful movie has reached epidemic levels on baseball forums. And like the above, they are usually way, way off base (no pun intended)
  17. The Angels could lose every game the rest of the year, and that would not make Reagins any less of an moran. There is only one person on the planet that would have willingly traded for Vernon Wells. And to make matters worse, he ate almost the whole contract AND gave up talent return. No amount of bad luck and bad play on Dipotos watch can change that
  18. Unless you were drafting in 18th in a 20-team league that was a dumb, homer-istic 1st round pick, brah
  19. Until (and IF) the Halos can get close to .500, I can't see any moves like this making any sense at all
