  1. This is a pretty stupid thing to retire over.  If he wants to spend time with his kid, why not just bring him on the road, not bring him to batting practice and meet up with his son after the game.  The plan was to take his kid with him everywhere he goes but thats still very easy to do when youre making 13 million dollars.  The clubhouse is not a place to babysit your kids, and the fact the White Sox players are protesting it is flat out hilarious because of how stupid that is.  Is there a team in baseball that will allow you to bring your kids with you EVERY day including all practices, games, and BP sessions?  This is honestly one of the stupidest reasons to retire.  If he doesnt have the passion to play baseball anymore thats one thing but just because you cant bring your kid to the ballpark every single day doesnt mean you cant spend time with him.

  2. If we're a top 5 offense in all of MLB this season, I will gladly donate $1,000 to a charity of your choice. I appreciate the work you did, but I just don't see it happening. This is one post that I'll be happy to be wrong about: if I'm wrong, and you're right, we'll all have a really fun Angels team to watch this season, and some charity will get some dough. :)

Haha this will be funny when we have a top 5 offense and still miss the playoffs

  3. Just think that in all of Weaver's great career and all the incredible clutch games that he pitched, we still only managed to win 1 playoff series.  Its a shame we could never win it all when Weaver was a top 3 pitcher in this league, that team friendly deal didnt really pay itself off for him.  He could have gotten Verlander money somewhere else.

  4. I really like the McGinn pick up. Good upgrade over Pat Maroon, hopefully it costs is a 2nd, which is fine. We have a chance to re sign him and he's still only 27. Has had a couple of 20 goal campaigns and plays a good forechecking game. Great fit for Rakell and Perry. Pirri also a great value pick up IMO. Real happy with GMBM work here today. Ducks are a super super deep team. Get ready for the ride guys !!!

His career high is 19, which came 2 years ago.

Pirri on the other hand is a sniper.  22 goals in 49 games last year.

  5. No way can a budget team like the Ducks pay that price for Ladd...Chicago looks like the favorites now but the west is so strong anything can happen.  I want a chance at redemption against them so badly!  At least this time game 7 wont be at the Honda Center.

I wouldnt be so sure about that.  Ducks are gaining ground on Chicago very fast.  If they beat the Oilers they will be 7 points back with 3 games in hand.

  6. 2014 team had a lot of guys produce at or above their career norms, and we beat up on the crap teams in our division.  There is nobody in the division to beat up on this year except maybe the A's, but they find a way to beat us even with their double a crap lineup.  Check our record against the Astros and Rangers in 2014, then check our record against average or above average teams.

  7. He peaked in 2009. In 2011 he only played in 117 games. The following 3 years after that, his OPS has been under .800 and dropped every year. I wouldnt say hes an excellent player by any means. His home and away splits dont suggest it had anything to do with AT&T park either.

Is he a good player? Yeah I would say so. Is he worth 100 million over 5 years? Not even close. The Red Sox are paying him like hes a superstar player when he isnt even close to being one and never has been. All of his postseason success is behind him, if they expect him to duplicate those performances in the AL they are dreaming, even if Fenway's fences are little league.

Damn my baseball knowledge is incredible.

  8. The NL in QM's mind is no different than those pitchers that could only throw 70 mph back in Ruth's day. Despite none of that actually being true. I am sure that Harper would be 90%+ percent of what he currently is in the AL. Maybe not in Anaheim, but the guy is good.

Haha.  Ive just seen it way too often.  Guys dominate in the NL, whether it be a pitcher or a hitter, then they come to the AL and are a shell of themselves.  We already saw it happen first hand with one guy who is very infamous on these boards, and his name is Albert ;)

By the way did they even know what an off speed pitch was back in Ruths day?

  9. Sure ok. Arte is "cash strapped" by choice. Arte was spending over $100 million in payroll while getting $50 million in TV revenue. He's now getting $147 million and is spending an extra $40 million annually. As far as your opinion of how people will treat Albert you are projecting your beliefs. We boo Hamilton and Tex. Albert will be respected.

No point in arguing this but I disagree.  We dont respect Mo Vaughn, at least most people dont.  Albert seems to be on a track to only get worse, his average is consistently terrible and his approach at the plate basically makes him a poor mans Adam Dunn.  Apparently he knows hes finished and is trying to jack as many homers as he can before he retires.  This doesnt look like a playoff team for the next 2 years at least, by then who knows if Albert will even be able to make it to 1st base?  He most likely retires before his contract is up due to his age, and some people will commend him for that.  But when its all said and done, he will have 1 all star appearance and one division title in about 8-10 years of playing time, to go along with the 200 million or so that he swindled from us.  I dont think many people will respect him for that.

  10. It would be hard for Pujols to help Simmons at the plate when these days Pujols himself doesnt have a clue what hes doing. I would hope Pujols stays away from the young guys instead of teaching them to be extreme pull hitters that only go for home runs.

Whatever impact Simmons has defensively is negated by the fact that we are planning to do very dumb things defensively. For some reason management is set on Escobar at 3rd where he cant play, JG at 2nd who also cant play. And while Pujols battles injuries all season, say hello to Crons horrible defense at 1st. Ive yet to see a great defense that sports 3 horrible infield defenders at premium positions.

The bullpen imo should be okay, I dont think it will cost us many games.

The rotation will likely be the bright spot of the season.

The lineup will be terrible. Trout will do all he can to save it, but in the end there is just too much mediocrity. Artes cheapness will come back to bite him in the ass when fans get bored and stop showing up mid season to watch the Angels get shut out every other night.
