  1. So what kind of file is a .png anyway?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_Network_Graphics

In a nutshell for the non-technical side of you, it was designed to replace GIF and TIFF files and most importantly:

    -  No image data is lost when saving or viewing the image (lossless) - so yeah, get your porn images in PNG from now on so your grandkids can see your stash in the most vivid detail

    - Software developers technically need to pay royalties and fees to Unisys if their app supports reading or writing of GIF or LZW TIFF images

BTW, I'm a bit surprised you've not seen it before since it's the most commonly used image file format on the web.

  2. F Pujols. The last thing this team needs is to make more poor decisions because of a horrible contract

According to MLBTR.com, Pujols has - in addition to his service after playing - an 11 year after-life provision in his contract as well.

This was never disclosed due to fears of some religious people being offended.

So it's not that bad of a deal if you think about 30 years+ of world-class service.

  3. It is a lateral move where we trade a player who we control until October to a player we control for six year.  Hell I think that would be a great move.

    I agree.

If there wasn't sufficient data to demonstrate what the likely performance is of said player with 6 years of control.

In a vacuum, of course you're right.

Also, the real point isn't what we could or couldn't have got for Downs on his own vs. Downs packaged with someone...but more so that a player like Rasmus could be had later if that was so integral to us getting better.

I'd have liked to have seen more of a move to show the thought leadership behind where this team is heading...

Color me not impressed.  Not quite hating but not impressed to be sure.

  4. you guys really don't think Dipoto has been having discussions with teams for some time now? You really think that some new better deal would have shown up if they had waited a couple more days?

I gotcha.  Call out other people for wondering how they have insider knowledge to criticize decisions...

...but criticizing other posters based on your assumptions of inside knowledge.

  5. It's getting to where I just don't believe he has a plan at all.

    But this IS his plan.

Remember, on June 21st Dipoto said the Angels are "'one bad streak away from considering all options."

Losing 3 to Oakland when that was your sliver of chance...   Here you finally have it.

Today's move is "all options" ;)

  6. True, I've soured on Dipoto after this season and am now thinking next year is make or break for him. He really made the pitching(starters and pen) worse than it was before

We went from having the potential (and critics support) of the best staff or at least starters in all of baseball to one I can't even recognize.

I couldn't have scripted it as a possibility.

Dipoto is extremely creative.  I'll admit I didn't think it was doable but he found a way I'll give him that.

  7. Incorrect...because I have an Angels one. Wife bought one for my bday. I make waffles with it, but it's a better sandwich press.

Ahh cool so I guess just not distributed through Amazon or a different mfg?

I live off Amazon Prime (I find more stuff on there that custom distributors don't even have), so if it's on there that would be great.

    Linky linky.

  8. Pangea-Brands-MLB-Toaster-Los-Angeles-An

I should buy one of these just to remind myself every day.

Joking aside, someone I know ordered one of these.  Horrible.  Similar complaints abound.

If you want a cheap gift that is actually functional, go for these.  Pretty nice actually.

Unfortunately, seems Angels are not popular enough to have a model.

  9. Ok Bruce,

You're right (and you actually are).  As a certain personality just pointed out on air, you have college football coaches in the sticks making 8 times what your average MLB manager makes because they mean that little overall.

Even more of a reason to change managers.

It can't get much worse (since you are limited in the value either way) and can only get better.

If NOTHING else, I might actually listen to a post-game conference for once.

Shit, look at good 'ole Mattingly.  Right now he has many analysts arguing he's one of the favorites for coach of the year given what the Doy-doy-doyers have done.

I can't think of the last manager to go from being fired any day now to manager of the year.  But in the MLB, it can happen.

  10. As bad as the Lakers have it in the near future, the NBA has _some_ parity at least.

This team is going to be doing a stint in the equivalent of MLB Corcoran state prison

Aaaaaaaaaannnd...as you enter the showers, you get the look.

Plot twist:  I just noticed my avatar and his intentions.   Yap.
