  1. Why would our big acquisition be another hitter? We need pitching. Pitching, pitching, pitching.
  2. This is a solid point, but adding one more corrupt party will not make it better.
  3. Hesperia is absolutely horrible. It makes Colton look desirable.
  4. The government chose the word, not me. It's not competing if the government is covering folks who wouldn't have coverage otherwise.
  5. I think my problem is the the whole "compete" idea. Why would the public option need to compete with the private ones? The could have coextsted without competing. That is where a lot of the blowback came from. If the government is involved there really isn't a real competition since they can vote, repeal, pass or get from the courts whatever they want to get their own favor.
  6. and I don't necessarily disagree with that. I also can never remember how to spell necessarily.
  7. I don't know boom. I'm no expert. I just know what I've seen regularly since Sosh took the team over. It's certainly frustrating for the fans but up until four years ago it worked way more often than it didn't.
  8. I would say that a typical Sosh teams struggles early because he is trying to find that right mix of players early. It is early in the season where you will see that wonderful dazzling array of lineups each game. He is giving struggling players a chance to fix their problems and give them confidence for later in the season. That is how Sosh manages. 6 times it has worked just fine so I don't really see how one can say there is correlation or causation. Again, I'm fine talking about the last four years and the failure that those have been.
  9. Strad, didn't Kevin's numbers say 2011 wasn't really a slow start?
  10. Kevin I thought you were giving up on the Angels until Sosh left.
  11. Can we say that about the parties? No Republicans or Democrats can be elected for 10 years if there is a shutdown.
  12. I didn't argue that more value should be put on any wins or less value on any wins. Only that overall record is the only thing that matters. That has proved true six times with the Angels under Sosh. Again, if we want to discuss the last four years, that is fine.
  13. That is a totally different argument nate. Mike's teams have normally struggled early and still made the playoffs six times.
  14. Because overall record is all that matters. What if a team starts off hot and sucks ass in August and September? Is that any better? Point is the team with the best record at the end of the season gets into the playoffs, not who plays the best in a certain month. Most teams don't stay hot all year long.
  15. I guarantee some of the same folks defending Dipoto were calling for Stoneman's head. The fact is Stoneman is clearly the best GM the Angels have ever had and he was much, much better than he ever got credit for being.
  16. This whole month argument is kind of sketchy to me. I'm way too lazy to look it up, but I wonder if there aren't a bunch of managers with weird records in certain months. Whatever, the only thing that should matter is overall record. If one wants to argue that the team's overall record for the last four seasons is bad enough to let Sosh go I would listen, but this April-May junk is silly.
  17. My only problem with trading Howie at this point is that the most likely replacement would be Green. Our defense was suspect last season and he is not as good defensively as Howie. Or offensively.
  18. Or Dino, or Alfredo or the 20 other coaches in the minor leagues.
  19. I really like Grich and I think he could be a successful coach, but I wonder if he really wants to put the time and effort to actually do so. He really seems to enjoy his life right now.
  20. It shouldn't. They should get a pretty damn good price if they add all of those people up together.
  21. I agree with wallyworld in the sense that we didn't need another hitter nearly as much as we needed pitching. The fact that Hamilton has struggled is just salt in the wound.
  22. They should not have touched private health care. They should have just created an exchange for those folks who couldn't get it on their own. Then the people who were rejected because of prior conditions could have access, the people who couldn't afford their companies programs could have access and the people who didn't have any programs at all have access. Then they could also have left alone the folks who simply didn't want it.
