This is my view on it. For example I watched the tail end of Felix Hernandez' perfect game and was cheering for him, even though I'd never do so if he were playing against the Angels (admittedly the Rays were more of a threat to the Angels than the Mariners anyway) I was also hoping to see Darvish at least get a full bid (I would've been annoyed had Washington pulled him out due to pitch counts after the 8th for example, although I would've enjoyed seeing "Fire Washingon" threads in all the Rangers forums). Realistically there was pretty much no way the Astros were going to come back anyway. I was pulling for Darvish to at least get a full bid. He did. I wanted to see him possible get it but at the same time that didn't stop me from laughing at loud and cheered a bit bwhen it was broken up. Aybar's bunt was a bit different in that it was only a 3-0 lead and the Angels nearly came back. Saying that a team should handicap themselves out of respect for a no-hitter is in progress is lame.

Astros commenters are pissed at Washington for letting Darvish's pitch count go too high.

Maybe they'll pull Darvish as soon as he gives up a weak bloop single then hand the game over to the bullpen to pitch batting practice and give up the game. That and some of the Astros hitters should try to bunt just to mix things up.

Do you have any good captain hindsight pics? I want to complain about Jerry Dipoto and the Dan Haren trade years after the fact the next time Skaggs pitches a good game.

I don't mind the GIDP king bunting with two on in late innings in a pitching duel when value of a run or two is elevated. I do have a problem with Aybar bunting to advance trout early in the game.

There's no chance of a rain out in Houston yet they also had an off day. I think mlb is just spreading out the first games to improve TV ratings on opening day

Back in the day Arte Moreno used to have among the cheapest beers in the Majors. It was a great marketing strategy that made the people happy to save $1-2 on beer therefore they would not notice they were getting grossly overcharged for seats. Now the DBacks are following that strategy. They're advertising on the radio that the DBacks have the cheapest ballpark beers in the country (14oz domestics for $4)

This is why the construction of the rest of our starting rotation is very scary: Here's our rotation now Weaver (Velocity is concerning) Wilson (back from surgery) Blanton (marine layer is his friend) Vargas (marine layer may not be enough) Hanson (poor-man's Weaver) I actually did predict at the beginning of the season that Weaver would take a step back, and CJ Wilson would pitch the way he did the first half last year thereby becoming the team Ace. That's just a wild ass-guess*.

I popped into the Gameday chat for a little while today but since I watch the games on MLB.TV I have a several second lag compared to those watching of Fox Sports West. The gameday chat was kinda killing my buzz with spoilers (eg seeing bleeped out obscenities in the chat when Iannetta was still batting w/ bases loaded two outs on my video stream). I'll likely stick with the vent threads.

Or you could get a Dodgers Jeff Weaver jersey (probably pretty cheap nowadays) and an Angels Jered Weaver jersey then cut 'em in half and sew 'em together like Weavers' parents did.
