  1. Green looks like he could be Brandon Wood 2.0. At least after watching him tonight. Small sample size, so hopefully I eat crow
  2. The first mistake is claiming Josh Hamilton is "worth" $125M.
  3. Hubs touched on it in his original post. Signing Hamilton facilitated the trade for Vargas. Without Hamilton, the Vargas trade doesn't happen IMO. So, the Hamilton signing actually helped the pitching staff (for this year at least.)
  4. Miggy mocked Rodney Friday night by doing his "arrow shot" so Rodney fought back. That said, If he was trying to do more than intimidate Cabrera, he wouldn't have thrown the first pitch 5 feet outside, in that situation nonetheless (closing out the game)
  5. Gun to my head I'm saying he's chewing again. Whatever he's doing, he looks like his old self in the OF (reckless and all over the place) and looks a lot better in the box than he has in a while!
  6. You forgot Joe Blanton is pitching like an ace
  7. We should trade for him, convert him to the rotation. He could start for us, http://goldandorsmith.com/GIFs/DavidMurphyBreakingBall.gif
  8. What's as much fun as watching Coello throw the pitch, is watching Iannetta try to catch it. Although, he seemed to do better with it yesterday than Wednesday or Thursday. That said, I can't wait to watch Hank catch it
  9. Dipoto is getting lucky because his most productive players right now are also his least expensive, by far! Trout, Trumbo, Richards, Bourjos. Eventually these guys are going to get paid, it just won't be by the Angels because they've been saddled with huge long term, back loaded contracts. I, for one, can't wait to watch Albert in 2020 (sarcasm ON)
  10. I'm with you YOT. I'd trade CJ, Vargas, Alberto, Howie, and Pujols for as much minor league talent as possible. And yes, I know we would be eating most of the AP and CJ contracts and there are no trade clauses but it could work. Hard not to think a rotation of Weaver, Richards, Roth, Hanson, and Jerome Williams with a lineup of Bourjos, Aybar, Trout, Hamilton, Trumbo, Ianetta, Jimenez, Harris, Kalhoun would lose the same amount of games than what we currently have....
  11. I'm flying down from Utah to catch these two games. Box office still has plenty of tickets available, but if anyone has tix they're looking to get rid of, I'd be interested. The one catch: I have muscular dystrophy so hiking up a bunch of stairs isn't an option for me. I don't remember which sections (if any) have hand rails up the stairs. Thanks in advance. -T
  12. Right on que, Norris looks like a Cy Young on the road against us and goes .2 IP 6 ER at Oakland today.
  13. I won't argue that 2013 is a VERY small sample size, just playing a little devils advocate and trying to show that he has already hit into as many DP's as he did in all of last year.
  14. Bourjos has GDP twice this season. Only Pujols (3) has done so more. Iannetta, and Trumbo also have 2. PB has GIDP 5.3% of his plate appearances this season, the highest rate on the team. I agree that his speed should keep him out of DP's, but is there a difference between not grounding into DP's often and being one of the most likely to GIDP on this team?
  15. Not many bright spots this season, but here are a few things giving me hope for the W tonight: Tommy Hanson: 4-0 (5 GS) against Houston with a 1.59 ERA from 2010-2012 1-0 vs Houston (5 IP 2 ER) last year Bud Norris making his first road start of the year. 2012: 3-12 6.94 ERA away from home (4-1 1.71 ERA at home) 2010-2012 9-22 5.29 ERA on the road In 9 games this season, Houston leads the majors with 101 K's. The last two Angels opponents: Oakland 57 K's, Texas 62 K's. The Angels pitching staff has been middle of the league in K's, at 70 this season while Houston has struck out a whopping 45 batters (second worst in the majors.) Lastly, Tommy Hanson is the only Angels starting pitcher so far this season to notch a win, recording a 1.00 WHIP against Texas. Only Garrett Richards has a better WHIP (.092) What this all adds up to is, the Angels have played one of the toughest first 9 games in the majors. They have one of their best pitchers on the bump (**very small sample size I know, but we're trying to be optimistic here) and are going against one of the worst teams in the majors. Only about 12 hours until we can LTBU
  16. Not sure if this has been discussed, but former Angels system pitcher Trevor Bell had an interesting tweet after last nights game: https://twitter.com/trevbe22/status/322278523811278849 Living in Utah, I attend many SL Bees games each season. I always sit in seats directly behind home plate. These seats are not sold, but rather are given to family members of the players. There is always plenty of open seats in this area so I always sit in one of the extra seats. I will often get into an interesting conversation with wives, girlfriends, parents, or siblings of players. Most of the time, they say the player they know shares the same feelings toward MS as Trevor Bell did here. Now, keep in mind these are guys arguably one step from the show, so it can be easy to be frustrated with the manager who is perceived as being the only thing stopping them from playing in the bigs. But, Scoscia's over-managing style only works when his players buy into it/him with full support (see SF Giants.) That is all, carry on.
  17. I believe you can purchase the MLB.TV package with an address out of the area and it will avoid the blackouts.
