  1. Are you shitting me? Younger me was the dude who had theories on destiny vs chaos type conversations, gradually became a believer more in the "life is a crap shoot, like the mlb playoffs" type.

The last 24 hours has me thinking on that again, so many crazy "coincidences" that the word coincidence starts feeling inappropriate.

    Trout is underpaid

He honestly is. With the richest contract in history. That usually only happens in the NBA, and that's because a player is 1 of 8 or 9 that play regularly and plays all aspects of the game. Trout being 1 of maybe 20-22 that get regular appearances and not also pitching makes it unreal he'd be such a "steal" with that kind of contract.

This game, especially given it being the one specifically for Skaggs, is one that barring something really dumb happening, will be a memorable one for a long, long time.

  3. Saw my one and only game there in April a few years back on a work trip. Think it was against the Brewers. It was cold as hell and early in the year the ivy is brown and lame.

While it is cool to be at an historical site, if I lived in Chicago I'd be begging them to renovate, and just stay home and watch on TV. It's pretty gross when you get past the initial "this is cool" factor.

    Fuckin Cody Allen

The guy has literally never been a strike thrower. Has never thrown even 47% of his pitches for strikes in a season. 8 years in batters finally figured that out.

My question: why the hell is it that this always happens to new Angels pitchers? You can't give us even a year to enjoy decent performance first?

Okay but how about not allowing runners to get on base and put the pen in a bad spot in the first place?

Usually a big Fletcher fan, and while he's not necessarily sugercoating it, even he should admit the underlying numbers suck, even with this disclaimer. Take out the 6 ER of the 35 he had coming into today and he still has a 5.32 ERA.

Sounds better but still shitty, but keep in mind if you did the same exercise for every starter in the league I'd assume their ERA would come down at least 0.2-0.3, too, which doesn't help the case.
