I feel like it's the opposite. They're wasting opportunities and the pitcher is going to settle down. This team has an awful history against LHP.
I wouldn't have guessed that, given the RH heavy lineup. Last year, Angels 23rd in wRC+ against lefties. Yuck.

extend Trout!
(not you, tdawg)
We already have him for the next 12
inches, sorry I mean years, what more do you want? -
It is pretty funny when your 3 hole hitter tries to hunt for a hit...

Pena be our number 1 before the all star break.
How quickly we forget about last night's performance from the White Knight.
Trouty!

3b for now although he's probably not long for a move to 1b. He was a little better at 3b than SS last year but still not very good.
The big question will be whether he can play with a bit of a chip on his shoulder and to have that motivate him.
Got it, thanks.
That puts a lot of pressure on the bat, then. Also makes me wonder if the "not quite best outcome" ends up being significant piece in a trade. Between odds that Upton will need to move there sooner than later and milb other options, gut tells me the position is covered for the next 4 years or so.
Of course, have to remember your comment on his age, so maybe that fits his timeline, guess we'll see.

I had the same thought. that hot streak really altered reality
That last week of June through first week of August where he was basically Mike Trout got me too hopeful.

he had moments last year where he looked totally bored and disinterested. Then he'd have others where he was clearly the most talented player on the field.
One think we need to continue to remind people of is his age. He turned 19 in February. He's younger than Jordyn Adams. Putting him in the middle of the diamond needs to stop though. He's a butcher at SS.
What position would you put him at, 2nd or 3rd? Totally fair on the age, you and others keep reminding us on that point and I keep forgetting the point.

Most confident - Rengifo and Marsh
Less confident but still optimistic - Thaiss, Walsh, Suarez, Ward, Jones, Sandoval, Jack Kruger
Too early to tell but optimistic - Maitan, Adams, Soto, Jackson, Knowles, Deveaux, Soriano, Rodriguez, Aquino, Yan, Swanda, English
Could be good but probably won't yet still on the radar and very curious to watch - Rojas, Meyer, Pena, Beasley, Orlando Martinez, Nonie Williams, Leon Rivas, Tim Millard
I'm optimistic that you're optimistic about Maitan. If I didn't know better I'd think you were just a prospect homer, but you've certainly earned the benefit of the doubt, at bare minimum! This is where I appreciate that I'm a stats guy, I know the sport isn't math, but I am, so appreciative when I get reminded of that by those with an eye for talent like you. Thanks!

Today's lineup is...interesting as well! What's with Simba in the 3hole?
Power or not, he's our 2nd best bat that's healthy right now. I don't mind it at all.

Super confused by Cozart leading off. Unless you believe his 2017 is his true talent level, that OBP sucks. I'm a believer he figured something out that year, last year was injuries and that he'll rebound decently this year, but still wouldn't bat him higher than 7.

But we can work with "Bradley David Ausmus", and to he's another one of those "catchers" who've become a manager
Last nigh when we (The Angels) were down 0-2, many wanted to give Bradley the "boot"! Give him some time and let's see how things work out!

But "Brad?" That's not a HOF kind of name. Have to have Scioscia here to add the Y, then we're in business.

Count me a Rengifo believer. Will he be the best of the 5? Not sure. He is the most needed as soon as yesterday, though. I suspect by the ASB he could be up for good and quickly end up the leadoff guy, pushing Kole to batting 5th, behind Upton and in front of Pujols. Don't love Simmons batting 7th, but it's where I suspect it'd end up.

Hoping that Eppler suspects its not really going to be quite that long or he's saying that in the media for trade leverage. We've seen pretty good outfielders that have one "eh" quality have crap trade value the last two years, so I'd think a league average LF that could play RF when Upton gets back wouldn't cost any of our too prospects. When Upton comes back, you unload Kole a little earlier than expected for whatever you can get or carry extra insurance against injury till the trade deadline and worst case DFA Goodwin (whatever).

What the F*ck is that fat fuckin Disney ass mouse doing up there?
And why is Mickey right there below him
Have you yet to see Bour? It's Colon-level fat ass territory. Seems a perfect fit to me, except that photo had a little more melatonin than the current team, as I'm sure you're aware.

Since when is "these" used in a singular fashion? Is that acceptable? Asking for a friend, @EnglishCop

I was going to make a joke using the Interpol song Stella that was likely to fall flat because, yeah, probably not a band that would be popular around here.
Then I read the lyrics, and, uh, nevermind.
