On Escobar and Moustakas...They are both great clubhouse guys. Moustakas has provided a lot of power and Escobar has gotten a lot of line drive hits. Both batting averages not fantastic with the Angels, but they're OK. Bottom line is that they have been here only 3 weeks and there are over 2 months left in the season. They don't have enough information to decide now, but will after the season.

I'd bet that if the Angels were losing by 1 run in the bottom of the 9th inning and had the bases loaded with 2 outs and Ohtani due up and Nevin decided to pinch hit with Velasquez (who strikes out), you would defend the decision by saying "players have to perform when called on".

Wow. I just got home and looked up the play by play. NEVIN IS AN IDIOT. I like Nevin because I think he has a good relationship with his players and knows who to coddle and who to kick in the ass. However, come on. He is an idiot who does not know anything about strategy. You don't bring your closer who has 20 saves in a row into the game in the 8th inning in a non save situation and burn him to not be able to come back tomorrow. You bring in Barria to pitch the last 2 inning, with the intention of calling up Silseth to start on Wednesday. Closers don't have the same mentality when brought into a non save situation. You give the ball to Barria and if he doesn't have it, you bring in Estevez in a situation that he is used to and he is amped. Nevin, also has a habit of never bunting when he should and then over reacts and bunts when he shouldn't. I'm tired of all the dumb shit he does. Like I said, he seems to have a good idea how to handle his players, but he is an idiot when it comes to Baseball smarts !!!

I think the biggest issues with this team is that they strike out to much (especially with RISP), not being patient enough to draw walks, and not taking advantage of the new rules to try to steal more bases. I think Minasian drafted players to take care of those weaknesses.

For starters, how about not putting in pitchers just called up from the minors with ERAs over 5 and walks greater than 5 per 9 innings in close games before they proved themselves. How about putting up the take sign when the count is 3-0 because there is less than a 5% chance of a HR. How about insisting that players try to hit to right side with a man on 2B and no outs. How about having the . hitter try to hit to the right side with a runner on 1B being held on and the 2Bman playing close to the bag on 2nd. How about faster runners trying to steal more to get in scoring position instead of the OMG attitude that if they get caught, there goes the 2 run homer (which is what, a 5-10% chance)

I hate Sandoval more than Anderson. He is such a head case.

He is a ground ball pitcher. A lot of the hits he gives up now would not have been hits last year with the shift in effect and the ability to play an infielder on the outfield grass,increasing their range. That being said, his control has been crap and he misses his spots by too much to get hitters to chase.
