  1. Well, yeah. I haven't tried anything like Front Row so I don't know. You should definitely try them out for a week or so before making any switch to see if it works for you but if you're catching most stuff while out that's not that big of a deal for you as it would be for me. The appeal of the pay subs for sports is the ease of use for me. I don't have to find links or anything, just about every provider has an xbox app and they all have mobile apps. Netflix, Hulu+ and great for TV watching. It's been at least three years since I've actually watched anything live on TV in terms of series. I read that HBO is possibly coming around to making HBOGo available on a subscription basis, which is fantastic.
  2. I think that the primary advantage that most people see is a likelihood of continuing support and software updates for the device until it is no longer technologically capable of supporting new updates. Also, some people don't like he manufacturer specific stuff that is placed on some phones I think a good example of this is the roughly 2+ year old Nexus S. It received updates until the most recent update to Android 4.2. Depending on how much you pay per month and if that kind of stuff appeals to you, you might want to consider going to prepaid and grabbing a Nexus 4: http://www.google.com/nexus/4/ If that's not a big deal, that's a nice phone. It really is.
  3. I know he can speak for himself, but I'll just say that II think he's kinda building upon a joke that I made about Cal being a basketball school when we were "winning" (everything's relative) in BB while Tedford was floundering. It's clear that Cal has aspirations on and is dumping TONS of money into being a football school, but that's a tough row to hoe. I jokingly said that Cal was a basketball school. I'm pretty sure Nate knows that UCLA can pretty quickly turn its BB program around You guys will be strong if you get a good replacement for basketball Tedford.
  4. The right coach will turn UCLA around very, very quickly.
  5. It's exactly the same as Tedford, though the high's were higher with Howland (though not relative to the program's stature and his starting point) and the lows weren't as low as they ended up being with Tedford. At least the UCLA program isn't on the verge of academic probation. Dykes has a very fine line to walk at Cal. He can't afford a single academic slip-up.
  6. That's EXACTLY what UCLA needs to do. They need to bring in a 66 year old guy that isn't a hardcore recruiter. lol, you should probably put anybody that seriously floated that on ignore. That's NEVER going to happen.
  7. The comments are such gold. My favorite one is something along the lines of "How would you like it if you got hurt and somebody put you in a dumptruck?"
  8. It is crazy to me that Howland became the Tedford of basketball. He had such a promising start to his decade at UCLA.
  9. B, the only issue for you is that unless you moved, when it comes to sports you're probably kind SOL.
  10. I'm just getting started on this thread, but not entirely coincidentally I am steeped in growlers right now. There is no beer involved.
  11. Whoa, wait a second here. If I'm reading that article correctly, one of your coaches is the father of a current Cal commit. What the heck?
  12. We have Time Warner. I just ran a speed test and it seems we're getting around 18/2 and pay around $45 a month. We don't have any TV service and stream everything, which works out fine since all my teams are out of market.
  13. The Optimus G is an absolutely awesome phone if you like the design aesthetic. It's pretty much the Nexus 4 (quad core, 4.7 screen, 2GB RAM) with the drawback of not being pure Google and the added benefit of having a better camera, LTE, 32 GB of internal memory (rather than 8/16) and a microSD slot. It's an absolute beast and is only $50. http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/LG-Optimus-G,Google-Nexus-4/phones/7458,7531 IMO, it's actually the best phone on the market that's available (I really like the S4 and HTC One, but they're not available). If you don't give two craps about pure Google experience, I don't think you can go wrong with it. Go give it a look.
  14. Nobody that is of NBA caliber would ever go to Harvard.
  15. Month's gameplan was awesome. Syracuse is a whole different beast.
  16. You can exhale now. It's time to root for Montana.
  17. At least the game was evenly officiated and Cal and UNLV got close to the same number of free throws. That was nice to see. Oh, hey, wait a second...
  18. 19 free throws for UNLV 2 for Cal, and they came on a flagrant call. Hay que horrible.
  19. The refs are absurd in the UNLV-Cal, game. The calls they're getting and the calls we're not are ridiculous.
  20. The big upset of the day is still to come. Stick is headed to Chipotle.
  21. You're lucky you're going in April. Being there in summer is the most uncomfortable spectating experience in all of baseball.
