What helps explains the gap is that hitters are swinging for the fences like previous years but the ball isn't clearing the fence nearly as often. Rojas stays but he is at around half of his leash, if he struggles to get on base in his next 20s or so abs we might have to begin thinking about how to replace him. Currently with this broken roster and how KC has started this season, this was par for the course. I know this is purely speculative but given Dexter Fowler is out for the season, we will likely get a look at every one of these guys over the course of the season and that decision may come sooner than later depending on how the potential winner performs. There is also the chance that more than one player will regularly platoon if nobody does outstandingly well to steal the spot.
