Story probably makes that play easily.

Tyler O'Neil has to be among the buffest guys in MLB. Dude is freaking ripped.
I think they mentioned last night his dad was a bodybuilder. He definitely looks like that could have been a career path for him also.

Wow Gubi and Wayne are ripping into MLB taking Schanuel's record like I've never heard before.
Not to mention a bunch of other bullshit like ridiculous jerseys and Ohtani being involved in a betting scandal.
They're both pretty fired up.
Loved it.

Good for Randazzo to blast the pinheads at MLB.
This retro minutiae tweaking is disgusting. Essentially revising history for who knows what purposes? Betting connections now need to be considered for so many things in games and beyond. In all sports.
Lol... It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

I would argue that nothing needs to change. The market will adjust. Pitchers that get outs on weak contract and can go 7 innings will become the new fad and we’ll eventually see a resurgence of the Maddux type of pitcher. George Kirby comes to mind, though he has decent velocity readings. I don’t think anyone will be thriving at 90 mph, but eventually, 97 for 5 innings and surgery every other year will be replaced with 93-94 for six innings and a lengthy career.
I would bet against that. I thought for years that eventually we would see an end to the shift being prevalent because hitters would start to try to utilize that part of the field again.

As far as Rendon goes, no one else in this line up is exactly lighting it up tonight.
Rengifo has gotten what, one start this season? I figured this year would be the year they give guys like him to get consistent ABs all season.

As long as they keep getting outs I don't care what they throw.

Great bounce back series to get some mojo going into the home opener. Sandoval with a much better performance than the turd he had on Opening Day, Nolan keeps the streak alive, and Ward continues to mash.

Who had Anderson having the best start the first time through the rotation? Great start for him, hopefully he can build upon it and have a successful season.

If Adell and Rengifo had gotten the bulk of the starts to start the season I wouldn't mind throwing Sano and Hicks in for this one. Since they haven't, I'm kinda upset about it.

Sample size is tiny but his average exit velocity has been way down. it's actually gone up with every game but he's still sitting at 85.7. I know he missed time in ST so maybe he's a bit behind but he's toast if he can't get it above 87 at minimum. Aaron Hicks is at 84.3.. Only reason I'm bringing it up is the guy he's blocking (Adell), is sporting an average exit velocity of 96.5.
They really need to give Adell at bats while he's seeing the ball and making contact. Plus it's become pretty clear he's become an asset on the bases.
Adell should be in the starting lineup at least 2 out of 3 games either in the OF or DH. This is pretty much the year to decide whether Adell is worth keeping or cutting bait on. The fact he's hitting the ball hard should be even more of a reason to find ways to keep him in the lineup.

I don't remember hearing anything during the game. I also watched the replay and I don't think Trout looks lazy at all. If anything, he took his time to get his grip since the ball was probably wet due to the rain.

Immediate basehit for a run coming up...
Lol... Half credit since you didn't guess two base hits.

I liked the decision to give Canning a shot to get through the 6th. Too bad he seemed to just lose it. I hate that sequence to Mountcastle. Up 0-2 and then don't even challenge him afterwards.

the Phillies didn't do much in the offseason I think they are courting a possible trout trade?
Not much they really needed to do. Their core is all locked up for the next 2-3 years.

Ump has a wide zone today.

I'm trying to find an avenue where both get playing time. I am a big fan of Adell and think he can break out this year but Washington has to have some roll in that taking place. Playing Hicks and Sano shuts the door on both of those guys and that is going to be costly for the Angels if they can't get them playing towards a future of Trout, Ward, Moniak and Adell and then after 2025 letting Ward walk and moving up someone like Rada in 2026 which can move Trout to left and DH.
I'm with you on this. I was fine with not signing someone like JD Martinez since keeping that DH spot allows Moniak and Adell to get consistent ABs. IMO getting a good long look at them this season benefits the team long term rather than giving them to Hicks who's gone at the end of the year anyway.

I think 75-79 is about right. Pitching staff will be slightly improved with a return to a 5 man but the offense and depth are really suspect.

Maybe we'll hit double digit posts before the game is over, unlike yesterday.
Like what was said yesterday, this is kind of the no mans land of Spring Training. The initial excitement has worn off and won't pick back up until the Opening Day roster really starts to take shape.
