Like pretty much every other person has reiterated, it was a collective flaming turd of a game. Hitters with zero approach, Scioscia overmanaging and going away from what's made us successful all year, 0-8 with RISP, zero contribution from the middle of the order, Josh looking like absolute shit, etc. Our ineptitude plus a bit of luck on their side defensively swayed a game that we should have won into the Royals favor. One of the most irritating games I've watched, compounded even more due the importance of winning game one in a divisional series.

Titles really mean nothing in baseball, honestly. Once you're in the playoffs it is basically completely random as to who is going to go all the way. Given how this season could have gone, I'm happy with what we've done this year regardless of the playoff outcome.

This just in: playoff tickets are more expensive and in demand than normal tickets!

Wilson has a 5 BB/9 and a 1.66 WHIP over his last seven games. He has still been terrible, he's just been luckier.

It's really a mix of shitty luck and a putrid offense for them lately. I mean you can complain about losing a string of 1-run games to a certain extent, but when you're constantly scoring two runs or less per game it doesn't really matter.

Is Hamilton really an "intimidating veteran bat" or strong lineup presence that any pitcher fears at this point? The guy has been a shell for basically two entire seasons with the same tired MO at the plate. All of his power stats are dropping off a cliff (ISO, SLG, wRC) and he continues to have a different nagging problem every few weeks. Sure it'd be nice to have another bat around, but he needs to be in the 6 or 7 hole at highest.

Shoemaker is about the furthest thing from C.J. Wilson as far as pitchers go, not sure what talking to him would do. If Wilson had the ability to pound the zone (whether it's a mental, physical or dual deficiency at this point) he probably would have developed that before he turned 34.
