The Marlins have clinched a playoff spot.

I wondered if she needed to go with him too. Not because MLB is forcing the families (lol), but rather if there is some medical condition where he doesn't want to be apart from or unable to get to her... As in a reason that would require her/them to also go.
If she still needed a kidney and was on dialysis then I could understand that. Again, unless she was traveling with him on road trips which is actually even more dangerous it doesn’t make much sense that him being in a quarantined condition makes it dangerous for her. The quarantine is in place to help decrease the risk. I personally think it was more contract related. He has an agent and I’m sure he was instructed to do what he did.

Once again comfort level isn’t a rational state. Maybe they’ve had really good habits as a family and now having to quarantine wasn’t something he was willing to do. Maybe he would have opted out of the entire season if it was played in a bubble.
Did she travel on road trips with him too?

My comfort level today is higher than it was in April. But it isn’t linear by any means. Also he does have someone at risk, his wife. We really don’t know the levels of risk or the level of precaution he and his family have taken during this time.
Or maybe he has decided that he just wants to move on because he didn’t get an extension. According to many he’s the best SS in the game so he’s probably somewhat surprised that the Angels didn’t lock him up. I’m sure his agent is also influencing him. It’s business and I’m sure his family is healthy.

Alex Gordon is retiring after this season.
1749 games (with a few more left), .257/.338/.411, 190 HR, 113 SB, 867 Runs, 749 RBI, 102 wRC+, 32.2 WAR.
I'd call that the Hall of Kind of Good.
HoF? Probably so but you would have to consider Torii Hunter even more.

Please.
These teams are literally printing presses for money.
Then why does Arte or any team for that matter give a hoot about the threshold. Money should never be an issue.

Team Simmons. Seems legit.

Yeah, for three years, his age 30-32 seasons. They don't have to risk his mid-30s, so should be getting the three best seasons of the hypothetical 7-year deal he could get if he wanted it.
Last year Strasburg got 7/$245, or $35 AAV - and that's for age 31-37. Strasburg has a better track record, but has also never been as good as Bauer this year. I'd say their market value is roughly similar. Cole got 9/$324, or $36M a year, but had a better resume than either pitcher and was younger - but that is mainly represented in the contract length. I have no doubt that Bauer can get 7 years if he wants it.
Now Strasburg was over-paid, even by today's standards. He's a very good pitcher, but not quite in the elite. From 2017-19 he was 6th in fWAR with 14.0 and 12th in ERA at 3.15, so probably a top 10 pitcher but not top 5. Similar to Bauer.
So if Bauer could get $30-35M on a 5-8 year contract, I don't see why he couldn't get $36-40M on a 1-4 year contract. There are probably quite a few GMs that would go for 1/$45M, 2/$85M, 3/$120M or 4/$150M.
If the owners didn’t have to go through a pandemic year prior maybe someone would consider it but with a new CBA pending and the lost revenue coupled with his questionable personality he has a lot going against him.

That 3/$85M is a joke and very out of touch. A three-year deal would probably be around $120M.
No one is going to give him $40M per.

This guy is really an ass, not a good clubhouse guy and most teams will stay away from him because of it.

I don't know but my assumptions are that he's ready for free agency.
My assumptions are that Simmons agent continued to wait by the phone to negotiate a nice extension for his client and one of the two parties finally said piss off.

What? So in the last several months your comfort level has been exactly the same? Also, like was reported he was now going to be asked to be quarantined. So that is different than it was before.
Quarantined for about five or six days with his teammates. How appalling. Oh does that mean that they’re put in nice luxury suites and get 24 hour unlimited room service at their disposal. Tough life indeed.

I played Doral in February. It was amazing
That’s on my bucket list. Wow good for you. That place looks amazing and tough. I’m taking my two sons there next summer to test the Blue Monster. I’m not a Trumpster but his Golf courses are definitely worth playing.

I don't give a shit and I hope they all get covid on their aids packed assholes
Trump National Golf Club is pretty damn nice. Played 2 rounds for $310.00 last month. Pristine condition.

since he made 15mill this season, do you think the Angels are going to offer him the QO?
I don’t believe they will. It would not surprise me if Simmons’ agent attempted to extend his deal and the team declined because they feel that Fletcher could fill the void. Arte is and always has been a fan of the long ball. Simmons doesn’t fit that criteria.

OC Register: Mike Trout on postseason drought: ‘It’s time. We’ve got to get to the playoffs’

Calling tonight’s game meaningless vs our crosstown rivals and just allowing the Dipoto’s to have 3rd place just reinforces the losing culture that’s been in place.
