I used the last 4 years because that the amount of time Cron has been in the league.  Like I mentioned, Meyers is a year younger.  He's the better player.  Especially right this second.  But I am sure as hell not gonna give up a bunch of prospect currency to get a guy that is potentially only marginally better.  Now if we could get him for a moderate haul and put him in LF, I would consider it.  

The first "at Petco", I should have just said "since with the Padres" as in since the trade, the second "at Petco" applies, not park adjusted.

That is an incredibly misleading cut off mark for stats.

If you're going to omit his 131 OPS+ 5 seasons ago, you should also toss out his abysmal 77 OPS+ 4 seasons ago.

Average 112 OPS+ the last 3 seasons at Petco. Is he an amazing player? No, but an .800 OPS over the last two seasons at Petco, 28 HRs last year with 28 stolen bases, and currently sitting at 20 HRs this season is not a bad bat to have in the lineup.

Yup. Perfect for my fantasy team.

I have Mike Trout on my team, so I had to survive with Trout being injured, and just pulled off a trade to land Carlos Correa on my team over the weekend and yesterday was his first game for me. I couldn't help but just laugh at my luck. Now I have to survive another 6-8 weeks and hope to have a fully loaded team for fantasy playoffs.

Great to hear you're enjoying the new season. If you enjoyed episode 3 of the current season, episode 8 is really something. This season is definitely pure Lynch given free reign, with a hint of Mark Frost giving him some guidance.

Through episode 8, pretty emphatically no. There's a couple glimmers but its way more in line with Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me and the final episode of season 2 than it was with the first 15 episodes of the show. Its not to say that there isn't a lot of humor though.

Yeah, if you're a fan of Lynch in general, you should enjoy this. If people are just expecting the old Twin Peaks style, it's probably more similar in tone with Fire Walk with Me than a lot of the more sitcom-y style stuff, especially from the 2nd season, but some of that still sneaks it's way in from time to time. Then again, there's only been 4 episodes so far, so it definitely could get sillier.

This could very well be the last thing we ever get form David Lynch. He hasn't made anything since Inland Empire and doesn't seem to be interested in making any films anymore. So this could very well be him just going out with a bang and making what he's referring to as an 18-hour film, as he isn't even referring to each episode as an episode but rather as 18 parts.

Also, it's very nice to see Gordon Cole back! Also depressing to see characters like the Log Lady, Albert (Miguel Ferrer), Garland Briggs, and Phillip Jeffries (David Bowie), either appear or be referenced to as they've all died since the end of the show and very recently in most of those cases.

No one else watching Twin Peaks?

The tone is way darker and definitely not trying to win any new viewers as I can't see anyone who isn't familiar with the show even having a clue what the hell they are watching. Way more like post-Twin Peaks David Lynch than Twin Peaks itself but I'm definitely enjoying it.

I've seen the first four episodes, and will ride it through all 18 episodes. First time in a long time that I can think of where I'm actually going to try and watch a show as it airs.

Alex Bregman is one that seems to be incredibly underperforming, at least power-wise. Batting .267, but with 0 HRs and .665 OPS.

He needs to pick it up for my fantasy team! The rest of the team though should start sucking.

For the sake of my fantasy team, I hope he continues this. Doesn't hurt that I also have Trout on my team.

I remember reading about his insane stats after his second season in Korea, but I was doubtful whether he'd carry it over here. No one drafted him during my fantasy league draft, but a week into the season, when he had I believe 2 HRs on the season, I snatched him up as a free agent, been on fire since. He's impressive to watch.

His plate discipline now indicates this might just be more than just a hot streak, though I know he won't continue at this high a level. I believe the stat was that in his first stint here, he was swinging at about 40% of the pitches outside the zone, so he was incredibly inpatient and had no plate discipline, and he's cut that percentage down in half to 20%, so he's a far smarter hitter than he used to be and works the count to get his pitch to hit and isn't afraid to take the walk. Has 14 walks on the season and pretty close to a .500 obp currently.

Fun fact: He's homered 8 times vs. the Reds this season already in 6 games. Those 8 HRs alone would still have him leading the MLB in HRs.

Skipped doing Fantasy Baseball last year but back at it this year. Due to late draft on Saturday night the day before the season started, my league didn't start until this week, Week 2. Off to a decent start so far at least through the first four days. I got the #1 overall pick for the first time, 10-player snake draft, so I'm curious how this season will go.

There's only 2 DL spots in my league, so currently Jackie Bradley Jr. and Rich Hill are just taking up roster spots on my team unfortunately. Not sure who to drop when my players return outside of potentially Matt Moore, though I do have an overload of 3B options.

Yeah, I"m not sure I understand the logic because it's not an official MLB game that it's nothing more than an exhibition. These players aren't simply going through the motions, they are playing these games as if they're a championship game. Adam Jones said himself, these games and the atmosphere surrounding feels like playoff baseball. Even Eric Hosmer who has played in two World Series, and won one of them is playing these games as if they're game 7 of the World Series. I don't really know what more you need to these games to give them any credit outside of the stats to these games not being counted towards an official career stat card.

I don't really understand how someone watching these games isn't having some fun with it. It's far more entertaining than watching Spring Training baseball and very often more fun that Angels regular season baseball the past couple years. Whether or not the absolute best players are participating is beside the point. It's high-level play pretty much all around and all the players are trying their very best to win. It's not an exhibition to them.

the at bat should have all the scores. they're just mixed in among the spring training scores.

I think last year was an odd year in finding random players you never heard of doing well. I can't say it applied to me since I'm still in full baseball mode and follow the sport pretty intently all around but last year there was an abnormal amount of players hitting at least 20 HRs. Players like Jean Segura, Brad Miller, Jedd Gyorko, Marcus Semien, Ryan Schmipf, Jackie Bradley Jr., Yasmani Grandal, Jonathan Schoop, Maikel Franco, Miguel Sano, Tommy Joseph, Eugenio Suarez, Christian Yelich, Freddy Galvis, Didi Gregorious, etc...

So a lot of players that a more casual fan, or just someone not obsessed may have either never heard of or at least never figured would hit as many HRs as they did. There were 110 players that hit 20+ HRs last year, and nearly 40 of those hit 30+ HRs.

Compare that to 64 players with 20+ in 2015 and 19 of those with 30+. Last year was definitely a year that could make someone seem out of touch.

La la Land is pretty great too. Just a joyful movie. 

Only best picture nominees I didn't see were Hidden Figures and Fences. 

It actually was a pretty good show overall. Kimmel wasn't bad and the ending was at the very least entertaining as hell.

Moonlight was indeed fantastic. Manchester by the Sea would have been my personal choice but didn't seem to have a chance, Moonlight was my 2nd choice, so definitely not a bad choice.

Who just saw the big messup at the Oscars?

La La Land awarded Best Picture only to be interrupted in the middle of their speeches to announce there was an mistake and that Moonlight was the actual winner.

I'll have to see Layer Cake again. I remember enjoying it but it's been a long time. When I hear favorite British gangster films, I usually gravitate to stuff like Sexy Beast, The Limey (Soderbergh ain't British but Stamp definitely is), The Long Good Friday, and The Hit (another Terence Stamp great). Would recommend each if you haven't seen them, though all would have a different tone than those you mentioned.
