In our graduating class of 50, 8 kids didn’t graduate.  If this continues ad nauseum those numbers will continue to rise and the others will keep suffering the collateral damage of a substandard education.

Yes everyone agrees it’s important for schools to open up just like the economy but I think what you fail to realize, just like trump, is that both those things are controlled by the virus. You can’t open up schools(and keep them open) until the virus is controlled. Just like the economy is not going back to normal until the virus is controlled. So you are barking up the wrong tree. The right tree is on Pennsylvania Avenue who continues to ignore the root cause of the problem

So, no end game, no point of return.  Just a vague “someday”.  Great for kids.

You want them to get back to school just so it can be shut down again 2 weeks later after an outbreak?

The Dems really need to come up with better candidates.

Trump is a dumbshit and they trot out a criminal in Hillary and Biden who has dementia and is a career politician.

    Do better.

Is there any medical proof he has dementia? Yea he is old and has gaffes but so does Trump. Also we just had 4 years of a non career politician, you wanted the Democrats to nominate another?

    Professor says model shows Trump’s a shoo-in for re-election

Despite recent polls that identify Joe Biden as the heavy favorite in 2020, a political science professor is still standing by his prediction model that shows President Trump having a "91 percent" chance of winning in November.

Mediaite reported on Wednesday that Stony Brook Professor Helmut Norpoth is doubling down on his "Primary Model,” which has correctly predicted five out of the past six elections since 1996 and every single election but two in the past 108 years.

“The Primary Model gives Trump a 91 percent chance of winning in November,” Norpoth said. "This model gets it right for 25 of the 27 elections since 1912, when primaries were introduced."

"Norpoth's model, suggests that the president will win by even a wider margin in the electoral college with 362 electoral votes versus the 304 he earned against Hillary Clinton."

Ok then, I would bet my 401k he doesn't get 362 votes

Wife of dead man named in book by Trump's niece debunks 'absurd' claim

President Trump's niece Mary L. Trump alleges in her new tell-all book that her uncle paid a friend to take a college admissions test more than 50 years ago so he could gain acceptance into the elite Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. However, a new video from the wife of the now-deceased friend tells a very different story.

"To hedge his bets he enlisted Joe Shapiro, a smart kid with a reputation for being a good test taker to take his SATs for him," Mary Trump wrote in her book. "That was much easier to pull on in the days before photo IDS and computerized records. Donald, who never lacked for funds, paid his buddy well.”

But in her video message, Pam Shriver said her late husband met Trump after he was already enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania.

"My late husband Joe Shapiro passed away 21 years ago. He was a man of great integrity, honesty; he was a hard worker. He was literally the smartest person I ever met," Shriver began. "He went to University of Pennsyvlania, member of the class of 1968. It was while he was at University of Pennsylvania where he met Donald Trump. They became friends; they loved the sport of golf. They shared the same hometown of New York City; they shared the same campus. They stayed in a little bit of touch through the years."

Alas, the book that would bring Trump down has flaws.

Dems are trying anything and everything to bring him down.

Then it's not may be a different Joe Shapiro. Is there only one  Joe Shapiro in the US? Plus this is probably the most believable accusation in the whole book. Aside from the one when he told his niece when he saw her in a bathing suit that she was stacked.

Trump rally 'likely' source of virus surge, health official says

President Donald Trump's campaign rally in Tulsa in late June that drew thousands of participants and large protests "likely contributed" to a dramatic surge in new coronavirus cases, Tulsa City-County Health Department Director Dr. Bruce Dart said Wednesday.

Tulsa County reported 261 confirmed new cases on Monday, a one-day record high, and another 206 cases on Tuesday. By comparison, during the week before the June 20 Trump rally, there were 76 cases on Monday and 96 on Tuesday.

Although the health department’s policy is to not publicly identify individual settings where people may have contracted the virus, Dart said those large gatherings “more than likely" contributed to the spike.

Lol, nothing written about the millions that went to the protests.

But 6,000 people go to a rally and they are to blame.

It spiked in many areas without the rally, why?

To me it seems like the school thing really is a region by region case.  Florida opening them in a month or less with probably the worst outbreak in the country seems like ridiculous lunacy to me.  Utah on the other hand ? I mean why wouldn’t they reopen schools.  Big country guys.

The problem with that is all it takes is 1 parent to take a family vacation to Florida and bring back an infected asymptomatic child

You realize most teachers teach because they love being around their students?  You think you will keep them retained when all they are doing is not being around students?

I do realize most teachers love being around students. I also realize that despite that they still wouldn't want to risk theirs and their families lives to do so.

I don't think anyone doesn't want schools to restart, people just want it to be safe for the students and faculty. The #1 way to make it safe is to bring the risk of infection down by decreasing the case count.

Trump supporters are way different than Trump voters.  You have to give those people something else to vote for.

Yea let’s just forget that there are plenty of republican candidates in the primaries and you guys chose trump. There was also an option of nominating someone else this year and again you chose trump. Republicans have no one but themselves to blame from the lasting impact on the party from a trump presidency.

And when teen suicide continues to rise and their education continues to suffer?

Are you going to be volunteering to fill in for the shortage of teachers who will not want to risk their health to be a classroom full of kids for hours daily?

It's all about blaming Trump for literally everything.

He may be to blame for certain things but not all.

How about some people looking in their own backyards?

Think about that, a businessman voted into office to run the country like a business gets the blame when the business is a dumpster fire.

I think we are sadly underestimating what kind of mental health toll we are subjecting our kids too.

the American Pediatric Society has said they believe kids should go back to school. This isn’t like a Trump is a one man show on this subject

Pediatricians are cute when in their own offices they require everyone to wear masks and have a 1 parent with child policy. I don't think many pediatricians would show up to school if they had to be with germ spreading kids in a classroom for 8 hours a day.

Btw, if Trump wants to have school in the fall he should work to control the spread of the virus and decrease the cases instead of just downplaying and ignoring it.

What Newsom should have done last week is to not automatically shut down all restaurants from dine-in.    He should have based closures on the best information gathered regarding if the restaurants were observing the rules.   Don't penalize all for the actions of some.

If any indoor business is observing the rules, why shut them down?

The problem is that you can’t eat with a mask so it’s not about following the rules is about changing the rules. Based on studies the virus spreads much greater indoors so dining inside is not possible unless you can eat with a mask on.

So Biden won't have a circus if he wins?

Unity as in both Dems and Cons will all start to get along?

Unity as in unite the people of the US. Not make it seem like you hate everyone but your base. The leaders in Congress will continue not getting along until new ones are elected

I keep asking and nobody can tell me why I should vote for Biden without mentioning Trump. I'm serious too

You may not believe a unified federal response, message, and leadership is needed to control covid but a lot of people do and that is the main point of concern in the polls. Also people want unity and are tired of the circus in the WH.
