Sooo, Lebron said practice was great for him the previous days before yesterday, and that he would return either yesterday or today.

And now?   Not playing, how much longer is this going on for????

Just say he’s out for the rest of the regular season and stop leading people on.

Why do you care if Lebron comes back for meaningless games? Obviously the docs told him the the more rest he gets on the ankle the better.

  2. I am not worried about dropping to 8-10, I am confident the Rockets game is a win no matter if AD or Lebron plays so even if they lose the rest, the other teams will have to win out to pass the Lakers.

As far as Lebron goes, I'm all for him coming back and playing some games before the playoffs but that is if his ankle is fully healed. Seems like he came back too early at 6 weeks as I read it takes at least 10 weeks for a high ankle sprain to heal fully. If that is the case I'm not worried if he comes back for the play in game.

I disagree with him. I think there are a lot of people who spend a significant amount of time online that fear  disclosing anywhere that they support Trump.

    We'll see.

Biden is not going to beat Trump by the margins suggested in MI (8 points), PA (5 points), WI (8.4 points) or AZ (3.5 points).

You don't need polls, just look at 2016, Trump won a bunch of states by narrow margins(Michigan by 13k, Wisconsin by 27k, Pennsylvania by 44k and Florida by 114k, just to name a few) against a horrible candidate and without a 4 year track record of being president.

Also it's not like Trump got shattering number of votes compared to previous Republican candidates. As long as the Democrats turn out like they did for Obama(maybe not necessarily to vote for Biden but against Trump), the margins are easily achievable. And the turnout is looking more like 2008-2012 rather than 2016 so far.

The 2020 RCP average is only past 4 polls, for 2016 I am assuming they are using the average off all polls since for Wisconsin it says Clinton +9.5 but the 2016 RCP average was +6.5

But we don't need to look at the polls to see that Trump is in trouble, just look at the 3 closest states in 2016. Trump in Michigan by 11k, Wisconsin by 23k and Pennsylvania by 44k. Biden is a much better candidate and Trump's approval is in the tank.

    Ok, lets see.

The Mailbox they received their mail in ballot from

    The local Post Office

Any Postal Express like Fed Ex

    Their work outbox

    Their family or friends mailbox

Hey, Tennis, when was the last time you actually used a Postal Box? Was it necessary because you had none of the above listed ways to mail that letter?

We are talking about a secure, convenient, way to mail something 24/7 correct? None of those you listed checks all those boxes.

If @gotbeer is telling me I shouldn’t trust the blue bins with my ballot why the hell would I trust my grandma’s friend’s mailbox?

And don’t get me started on my work outbox, if they happen to see I voted for Trump I would get fired on the spot.

when has there been special drop boxes outside of polling places?  At least in LA, I've never heard or seen one.  I've always just went in, and handed the ballot to a polling place person and they put it in what I'm assuming is their other ballot box.

Don't know but in California but is a common practice in mail in voting states with very low reports of fraud

I think it’s stupid that people think we need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to absentee voting. There’s already a system in place and it works just fine

Except only 4 states are reinventing the wheel(by sending absentee ballots to all registered voters) , the rest are doing exactly what they have been doing in the past in regard to mail in voting

  8. 6 minutes ago, gotbeer said:

No, I wouldn't want special drop boxes outside of polling places.  Too easy for someone to steal the boxes, or intimidate those voting.

So you are against something based on speculation of things that could happen even though there is no proof of it happening in past elections?

Are you also against leaving the house when it's raining because you may be struck by lighting?

  9. 11 minutes ago, gotbeer said:

Not really.  you just run in, drop it off, run out.

Instead of waiting in line, getting your id checked, going into a booth, then checking all the D's or R's, then checking all the ballot measures that increase taxes because you got confused, then dropping it off.

So you are ok with special drop boxes outside polling places? Something Trump campaign is suing PA for?

  10. 13 minutes ago, gotbeer said:

Or you could just go into the polling place and drop them off there.

And good luck in improving the security of those blue mailboxes.  Should only take a few billion to update them all.  They are antiquated wastes of money and should be scrapped.

Yes that should also be an option for people to do that, just as there should be an option for people who want to avoid face to face interactions and long lines to be able to drop theirs in ballot boxes or mail them in.

  11. 37 minutes ago, gotbeer said:

Good.  Those votes will just get stolen.

If the president feels it’s safe enough to mail his ballot and his whole family’s without them being stolen, I don’t think the rest of us have anything to worry about.

Plus if it was really that dangerous, would it be a good idea to fund the USPS to improve the security of these boxes or have alternative ways to drop off ballots? (like special drop off boxes right in front of polling places, something the trump campaign is suing against may I add)

  12. 7 minutes ago, gotbeer said:

Or it could be no one uses the post office anymore with online bill pay and email.  So why have a bunch of boxes around that no one uses, but still require a lot of manpower to check everyday, and in most cases are rigged to steal mail anyways?

Unless you can use your email or your bank’s bill pay to vote it is safe to assume that at least for the next 80 some days the post office and the drop boxes will be used a lot.

let me be up front and say I'm fine with absentee ballots. I've voted that way several times over the last 40 years.

here's my problem with the decision to mail a ballot to every voter: what if they don't have the correct address? that's the case for the person who used to live in my house. they haven't updated his or her info in the last seven years. who's supposed to check on that? and if I was really bent on committing fraud, I'd have an easy avenue to do so.

and I'm sure this happens to multiple people throughout this state. the system has some gaps in it that could be a serious problem.

I've moved several times in the last 40 years, and each time I fill out that change of address form for the post office. I seem to recall that I either check a box to update my voter registration address or it happens automatically, but it gets done and I always get my voting materials. there's some kind of gap here for the former occupants of this house (and no, they didn't die, they moved).

I think there needs to be a mechanism in place that verifies where you live before they mail you a ballot. without that verification, the system is ripe for abuse.

you have mentioned a couple of times now about checking signatures. I don't know enough about our voting system here to say with any kind of confidence that there are people actually checking signatures against the official signature on file (if there even is such a thing). does anyone know if that happens here in the golden state? and if they check, how closely do they check? is that ballot then thrown out if they don't match exactly? what's the protocol on this? what do they do in New Hampshire?

as I said earlier, I feel very uncomfortable that for this election, republicans are absolutely against all mail in ballots, and democrats are absolutely in favor of only mail in ballots. it seems to me that we as voters ought to have the option for mail-in voting or voting in person/dropping off our ballots at some kind of collection center or polling station. something is fishy when each side picks a position and digs in like there's no tomorrow.

There are 9 states that will be mailing a ballot to every person, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Hawaii, Vermont, New Jersey. Exactly 0 of the 9 states are purple states. 5 of those (Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Hawaii) have been doing this for years with very little documented fraud and no one made a fuss about mail in voting in the past. The other 41 states will require mail ballot to be requested.

This whole mail in ballot is blown completely out of proportion led by Trump who is trying to suppress the turnout because he believes(and rightfully so) a higher turnout will lead to more votes for Biden and if he does lose he can use it to discredit the election.
