I like the optimism but people have been saying some version of this for more than half a decade. One idiot* even said a core of Richards/Heaney/Skaggs/Tropeano was good enough to keep the Angels competing for the AL West title for years to come.

That was enjoyable. It reminds me of the old days when I would play with ESPN's "Trade Machine" and engineer 16-player trades that ended with the Lakers having the entire First Team All-NBA but only giving up Luke Walton and Chris Mihm.
I never understood why he did not become a much bigger star. I know he recently got some love with Da Five Bloods, but I always thought he was just a fantastic actor. Maybe Samuel L Jackson got a lot of the roles that should have gone to Delroy.
I know the feeling. There are a lot of movies from childhood that I absolutely loved but I have yet to meet anyone as an adult who loved or often even heard of them: The Hard Way, Toy Soldiers, DIggstown, Sneakers, Deep Cover, Gladiator (1992 version), etc.
When they first opened, I went there more than 10 times in the first two months. But the prices went up and portions went down, and then Dog Haus Biergarten opened and I never returned to Slaw Dogs.
Same to you, @Blarg (and everyone else).
It's so nice to have baseball back. Last 4th of July just wasn't the same without it. I've already had a Carolina Slaw Dog for lunch and watched Jaws (both are 4th-of-July traditions for me). The beer will wait a couple of hours until first pitch of the Angels game.
It's tough. I wanted so badly to think he just needed time to put it all together, but I really don't see any evidence that he will. There have been several pitchers whose failure to live up to expectations have frustrated me, but none that have ever depressed me like Canning has.
