Exactly, minus the wild card

Angels 99-63.
Angels win American League West.Angels win their division series.
Angels win ALCS.
Angels win WS.
Keep it simple.
-
Also, the #9 pick in the upcoming draft will hopefully add to this further. I wonder what direction we go this year in the draft.

Great job guys. What a good read. With CRod, Detmers, and Kochanowicz, we have a chance at developing at least one homegrown top of the rotation arm. May be if we are lucky, all three can serve as rotation anchors for a future Angels championship team.

I actually think Barria might wind up the best MLB SP out of he, Sandoval, Suarez, and Canning.
I think Canning is going to be mired with injuries and ineffectiveness, Sandoval will become a good reliever, and Suarez will flame out. Barria won’t light the world on fire but he could go on to eat up a good number of innings as a back of rotation guy for many years.
I think Doug White and using him with openers really effed him up last year.
I agree, except for Canning. I think Canning still has a pretty high ceiling if he can stay healthy and keep finding a way to keep his arm loose in between innings.

I haven’t looked at the Baretto’s stats very much. But from what I see, he is a 24 year old right handed utility infielder who has not hit well in the majors yet. Sounds like a slightly older right handed Rengifo. Although, according to BR, Rengifo has a higher career war than Baretto in less years played.

So we kinda won three games tonight?

I think we do. Robles was outstanding this past year, and we're getting Middleton back healthy. Buttrey struggled in the 2nd half but I expect him to rebound. That's a hell of a back end (not as good as Tank's, though).
We also have a wealth of peanuts and SP depth to choose from. Bedrosian was good. Noe Ramirez was good.
Also, I still have some hope for Justin Anderson. He seemed over worked and had a lat injury second half of last year.

I didn’t vote because my choice was not an option. My choice would be the Shohei Ohtani press conference. It’s the only one I attended live. What an electric day it was.

This is crazy talk, I know. But, is it possible to sign both Cole and Strasburg this offseason? That way we may try some smaller trades to fill the rest of our needs and then see where we are in terms for spending on other free agents.
A rotation started with then would instantly give us a chance to compete for a playoff run (On paper). We could then try and swing a trade such as with the Giants and try and take Samardzija off their hands and maybe even offload Cozart (Granted we may have to give up some prospects).
I wonder if Arte could push a payroll like that. Or even if we could make some roster and financial moves to make this possible. I know this is fantasy, but it may also be possible and our best bet at contending quickly. Thoughts?

I mean on the one hand, they'd be able to call themselves the LA Angels ithout any snickering involved, which would be nice, and the stadium would definitely reflect the culture of the area. And waterfront location would be highly ideal. But, 13 acres isn't enough space and the traffic would be an absolute nightmare. But if they could develop a train system like the Padres do, it could alleviate some of that.
i still don't think there's anything as ideal as the Angels current gig. Big parking lot, lots of room for development, dedicated fan base, easy access to freeways. The Angels and the city just need to work it out. New ballpark or completely renovated one to match the culture of the area and an agreement to develop the nightlife around it.
I completely agree

That is a good/fair question. Would you rather have Robertson and Briceno or Bullpen as it is and a guy like Grandall?
I’d rather us get Robertson, Kikuchi, Grandal, and trade for Arenado. But I know that’s a warm piss in the wind. But what I do know is that there are “rumors” about us being interested In Keuchel, Robertson, and Harrison ( all pretty recently), so there is hope we may sign another player or two.

You mean Rengifo instead of Fletcher, right?
I understand that rengifo is the new hot pet prospect for everyone, but he hasn’t Had MLB success yet. So why is everyone ready to pencil him in to start when people like fletcher have already had success at the MLB level. Fletcher is like an after thought around here, which I dnt get. Give the dude a chance, as he can be our spark plug like he was at the end of last year. I think Fletcher may surprise people, win a starting infield job with us, and have a solid year with the glove and bat.
-
Sign Keuchel;
trade for Arenado;
sign a smaller bullpen arm;
trade Cozart for whatever we can get for salary relief; and
then watch us be contenders again.
-
I am also in the “let’s get machado” camp. Based on Fletchers numbers/spreadsheet, we have about 62 million room before we hit the tax threshold. And we know Eppler likes to have about 12 million extra cap to work with. That would give us about 50 million to spend. I know our actual payroll will be about 12-20 million more, so this would require moreno to push his actual payroll higher than he normally does. But with 50 million we can still sign machado, a sp (someone like Lynn) and solid reliever and still have about 12 million before the tax penalty threshold. Translates to: we have money to spend if we chose to. Also we can free up more by trading Cozart(if we sign machado) and not paying arbitration on shoemaker or others. That would give us more money to spend.

That roster was kinda pathetic. To blame a lack of post season success on a manager when He has a roster like that is sad. The fact the angels made the playoffs that year with such a roster should be celebrated. Name a manager who would have had post season success with the roster the angels have had in the past 5-7 years? And tell me how that’s Scioscia’s fault again?
