  1. Eh, a league average 32-year old third baseman who's already got no range at third and will only get worse with age is a bad idea.

Yes, Freese is 32. Plouffe is 29. Plouffe has two years of control remaining. Those two years of arbitration are estimated at $8m and $11m. What's a fair estimate for Freese in FA - 3/30 or 3/33?

Offensively -- Plouffe has the higher Slugging %, but Freese hits for a higher BA and OBP. They are both about 2.5 WAR players. They are both about 105 OPS+ (over last two years.)

Defensively -- Plouffe is an improvement in the field. He clearly derives more of his WAR from defense than Freese.

So, I feel a trade of Santiago should net greater value than a mild improvement of defense at 3rd base for two years.

  2. Angels should get Heyward. They need more black players on the team or else people are going to think they're racists. Just sayin

Nori Aoki could cover the "token Asian" spot vacated by Hank Conger unless "token nip" isn't equivalent to "token gook." He even looks a little like Yoko Ono.

Jason Heyward seems to meet the Torii Hunter criteria, so he is clearly not an "impostor."

/s (as explained by a moderator, this is all good as long as it is sarcasm)

  3. I kind of feel like this is the sort of thing we shouldn't blame on livestock as much as it something we should blame on people.  The livestock were present in larger populations before humans were here and it never was a problem.  I think the problem is million reside in Southern California, a place that has enough water for thousands, and have thus decided to try and take Northern California's water in an effort to save itself.

It's like the drowning man that grabs and tries to drown the lifeguard.  It only results in two problems, rather than one.

I kind of feel like hiring Scotty to run the state of California's water resource management would be the equivalent of hiring Dr. Ben Carson to be your daughter's gynecologist.

  4. Bullshit, the take out slide has been part of the game since the beginning. The problem now is replay ..: the neighborhood play has also been part of baseball as a way for the player to avoid collision if possible.

I had no problem with Utley ... I did have a problem with the call after review.

    Your usual twaddle.
