I think Plouffe is solid as a 3rd baseman, but why make this trade? Sign Freese to a reasonable three year deal. Use Santiago as a trade chip for value somewhere else. More overall value obtained.

Devastating,
we'll miss those 75 AB's
2 BB in 80 PA. Damn, even Aybar can work a walk better than that.

Angels should get Heyward. They need more black players on the team or else people are going to think they're racists. Just sayin
Nori Aoki could cover the "token Asian" spot vacated by Hank Conger unless "token nip" isn't equivalent to "token gook." He even looks a little like Yoko Ono.
Jason Heyward seems to meet the Torii Hunter criteria, so he is clearly not an "impostor."
/s (as explained by a moderator, this is all good as long as it is sarcasm)

Torii Hunter definitely had a long, productive career. Now that he is retired though, he can finally tell the world "everything" as he promised. I'm sure all his views on pricks, Dominicans, and teh gays will be really endearing.

I kind of feel like this is the sort of thing we shouldn't blame on livestock as much as it something we should blame on people. The livestock were present in larger populations before humans were here and it never was a problem. I think the problem is million reside in Southern California, a place that has enough water for thousands, and have thus decided to try and take Northern California's water in an effort to save itself.
It's like the drowning man that grabs and tries to drown the lifeguard. It only results in two problems, rather than one.
I kind of feel like hiring Scotty to run the state of California's water resource management would be the equivalent of hiring Dr. Ben Carson to be your daughter's gynecologist.

How can we possibly make informed decisions on these players without knowing their opinions on the homosexual lifestyle, interracial marriage, and women's suffrage?

Why did the link bring me to an article about female GM's? Refuse to read anything about that crap.
Oh hell... Ladies and Nancy Boys in baseball? Save us Pete Rose.

Bullshit, the take out slide has been part of the game since the beginning. The problem now is replay ..: the neighborhood play has also been part of baseball as a way for the player to avoid collision if possible.
I had no problem with Utley ... I did have a problem with the call after review.
Your usual twaddle.
-
If Utley had initiated the slide earlier, he still would have broken-up the double play allowing the run from 3rd to score. While not truly intentional, this slide resulted in a broken leg for the opposing middle infielder.
Dirty, dirty slide.

shoot me now
It is all about you.

Any 2016 Angels team that doesn't include a new 2nd baseman, 3rd baseman, and Shortstop will be off to a bad start.

Bedrosian is never just bad enough to know to be done with him, but at some point there can't be any confidence in his abilities.

brilliant complaint. very relevant.
I speak my truth. Be well.

Garrett Richards is a solid #3 in any rotation. Ace? Unfortunately no.

Don't start this shit again. Unbelievable
Yours doesn't stink? Interesting, but duly noted.

Yes, Freese is 32. Plouffe is 29. Plouffe has two years of control remaining. Those two years of arbitration are estimated at $8m and $11m. What's a fair estimate for Freese in FA - 3/30 or 3/33?
Offensively -- Plouffe has the higher Slugging %, but Freese hits for a higher BA and OBP. They are both about 2.5 WAR players. They are both about 105 OPS+ (over last two years.)
Defensively -- Plouffe is an improvement in the field. He clearly derives more of his WAR from defense than Freese.
So, I feel a trade of Santiago should net greater value than a mild improvement of defense at 3rd base for two years.
