that was annoying. i wish i hadn't watched it. should have gone to Petco instead like i originally planned. Bartolo hit a HR but instead of watching that happen I sat through this turd of a game.

Angels gotta win it in the ninth now. I hate extra innings.
you got your wish. no extras.

they strung us along all the way into the 9th THEN decided to melt down.

careful what you wish for. 1 on, nobody out top of 9

We could use Bartolo's power in our lineup these days.

i'm surprisingly ok with us being awful this season. I was in denial, then i was angry and then, miraculously, this morning I accepted. We are all going to live. it's been worse in the past and we ended up winning a WS title.
At least now we have reason we're terrible. We lost our ace. case closed. Before we just sucked for embarrassing reasons.

One bright spot of this game: Guerra. He looks fearless out there. Much better body language than "dehydrated" Richards.
he's clearly not dehydrated yet

You know it's bad when you say to yourself, "Maybe I'll just get out my Padres jersey."
Speaking of which, they're inducting Caminiti into their hall of fame. Wanna talk about that instead of this game? Anyone?

This is what happens when you trade for young pitchers it seems.
we should never trade for young pitchers ever again.
also, why are so many people blaming the medical staff? When I go into the doctor with a hemorrhoid I don't blame him for my condition. it's just wear and tear, man. it happens.

Thank god the Albert Pujols portion of this thread is over.

It wasn't an illusion. While I agree the Angels needed a top of the rotation arm this past off season, they did have starting pitching depth. But an article (which I didn't read) asks where the depth has gone is just plain dumb. Two TJ surgeries (probably), one slow to recover from TJ surgery, and some mysterious shoulder issue with Wilson. That is where it went. If we had one injury we would still put out major league starters every night. If we had two we would still be fine. Four, yea we are fucked. Take the opening day starter and game two starter from any team in the league and let me know where there depth is. Take King Felix and Iwakuma, take Keuchel and whoever they have as their number 2, take Hamels and Holland. If you do that with any team they are screwed.
the article is just really a blurb on what is going on with each one of those 8 starters. it's sort of a "Angels Pitching for Dummies" probably for people who don't obsess about angels baseball all day every day. So, not really meant for Angelswin people, more for the casual baseball fan.

Boy, are we glad we didn't trade away Santiago like a lot of fans were suggesting.
-
I assumed Street had a no trade clause. does anyone have knowledge of his contract?
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Tanaka successfully rehabbed and UCL strain last year and didn't need TJ surgery. While it's probably inevitable that Heaney needs surgery (because, Buttercup), maybe we should hope he's able to avoid it instead of sports sciencing from our couches.
eh... nevermind. IT'S THE END.

i'm going to make myself very unpopular here and assert that Pujols isn't going to hit .153 all season.
I am a negative nancy but even I will draw a line somewhere.
He'll warm up. I don't expect him to hit .300 at any point but i'd be very surprised if he batted below .240 for the whole season (unless he's injured).

The Mariners buckled down and played Dipoto baseball to come out victorious.
Wait, they complained that Mike Scioscia was being mean and bossy and skipped town?

2014 was a good year for Shoe, but it was a fluke. Shoemaker is pitching now like he has throughout his whole career in the minors. It makes so much sense.
After 2014, I was scratching my head wondering how he was so pedestrian in the minors and so good for those 22 starts in the majors.
I'm not scratching my head anymore. It was a fluke.
Sadly that seems to be the case. It would have been awesome if he could have won ROY in '14 because I feel like that was his glory season. With our luck he'll go to the A's in 2 years and become unhittable.

This thread today:
"Let's go Shoemaker!"
"Shoemaker sucks, 4-0 in the 1st, this offense can't score 4 runs in 1 game."
"I miss CJ Wilson." (?????!)
"Simmons is awful, everyone talks about his defense but he sucks."
HUGE picture of Blanton's pube beard.
"We hate Albert."
"We LOVE ALBERT!"
"We like Simmons now but we hate Escobar."
"Rasmus needs more innings and more chances at meaningful outings."
"WE LOVE ESCOBAR."
"We hate Rasmus."
"Trout is going to leave us."
"Season over."
Did I miss anything?

i find it sad that we don't have anyone in our system who can play 1st base and hits better than .150
Cron is a real big bummer.

Weaver is the worst starter? How do you figure that? David Price had a bad night, so did James Shields. Does that make you feel any better?
