  1. Contract with Angels also expires ($30M this year - $224M total). 10 years with the club. (.257BA, 24HR, 85RBI per yr). 1 All-Star Appearance. Feel free to check the math.
  2. The optics make it seem the organizations aren't good with background checks. If its multiple instances and investigative reporters can bubble it up, why not the clubs. The ones who come forward are likely a small fraction of actual instances of said behavior.
  3. SPs I'd highlight for the Halos Rotation Trevor Bauer Marcus Stroman Rick Porcello Kevin Gausman Drew Smyly Mike Minor Masahiro Tanaka Garrett Richards Mike Fiers Taijuan Walker Brett Anderson Tommy Milone Tyler Chatwood Trevor Cahill James Paxton José Quintana Homer Bailey
  4. I'm ok with the venting if it's constructive. There's a Rock-Bottom reality the Angels have had to face for awhile. When every baseball mind projects you to likely be .500 at best, clearly something is likely not right with team for a Championship run. Need a GM and a Coach to get the right talent. Starting Pitching should be the priority. If a team like the Oakland A's can find it year after year, Angels should be able to as well.
  5. Eppler should go. Along with some overpaid signings, just tied to a past which yielded zero results. Let a new GM with good Maddon rapport run the team. Trout's best years have been wasted in mediocrity.
  6. 3 games vs LAD against 4 games HOUvsTEX. The writing was sort of on the wall. And the state of the team overall. Remote chance there was a personal matter to attend to. UFA after the season.
  7. People already knew where the Angels were before the season started. Some Flashy Names, but not a playoff team. Agree. Pitching staff needs serious improvements. Pujols should retire, free up more cap for pitchers. Andrelton off the payroll also helps cap. Justin Upton a bit of an overpay. $100M in Annual Salary tied up in 4 players, none pitchers Winning games late to fall short of playoffs only hurts draft position.
  8. Simmons is UFA after the season. Would be good to get something of value, along with a bag of baseballs.
  9. Alex Smith's right leg is better than this pen. Or Angels pitching in general. Been having this convo for years now.
  10. Servicable bat in the lineup when healthy. Doesn't need to pitch anymore
  11. https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2020/07/19/report-angels-pitcher-julio-teheran-tests-positive-for-covid-19/ ANAHEIM (CBSLA) – Los Angeles Angels pitcher Julio Teheran has reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus. The news comes just days before the team was scheduled to begin its run of preseason exhibition games. Teheran “said he started feeling headache, cold symptoms, chills, fever, body aches, two days before he was supposed to travel to Anaheim for summer camp” and “didn’t want to risk getting on plane to travel,” according to the LA Times’ Mike DiGiovanna.
  12. Think its quite clear to be comptetive anytime soon they need to do whatever they can to get ahold of MLB-level pitching. They've done so much to shore up the batting order. The Rotation is starved and Ohtani likely shouldn't be Pitching. Most of the overpriced talent has been hitters. They need to flip the script and invest in a Rotation to be anywhere comptitive with the Top Teams in the League. Mid-level starters, aged-older veteran pitchers whatever they can get their hands on. It is simply a well-known fact to many and why this thread exists. Has been for several years now imho. I don't like the severe lack of effort to obtain Pitching, feels like an open wound that's not being treated. Battles are largely won before theyre fought. At best we're 2nd Fiddle Overall to the Astros in the Division, much less the AL. Really want the Angels to live up to their Payroll and represent with the Best Teams in MLB
  13. Kole and CJ Cron always seemed to be the two Mike Trout could relate to the most on the team. Seemed to help keep Mike grounded.
  14. Leaving Wainwright in for the 8th isn't karma. Just bad managing, and a dead arm.
  15. Managers know what kind of situation they're walking into. Whether contending or rebuilding. So Joe has choices to make.
  16. LAT: Maddon is interested in Angels job https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2019-09-30/angels-fire-manager-brad-ausmus-joe-maddon-expresses-immediate-interest-in-job " Maddon is interested in the position, according to a person who has spoken with him. Maddon joined the Rays after working in the Angels organization for three decades. He was the Angels’ bench coach under Mike Scioscia in 2002, when the team won its only World Series championship. Maddon last worked for the Angels in 2005, but he still owns a home in Long Beach. "
