  1. Jigger Statz had over 3,000 hits for the Los Angeles Angels by the way
  2. I don't think it should have an asterisk. Competition in Japan is pretty high, higher when he played there and they only had 130 game seasons when he played. If he started his career here, I think he would be about the same, if not farther ahead.
  3. Also the fact Mathews hit over 300 with nearly 20 homeruns and had a good eye the previous season.
  4. I thought Hawkins was pretty solid last year, until he broke his finger going for that grounder. He has been one of the best relievers in baseball the last 10 years.
  5. K-rod signed a 3 year 37, hardly ridiculous for how good he was. We could of had him instead of Fuentes for a few million more per season.
  6. I never understood why we got rid of Oliver, K-rod, O'day and Peralta
  7. I keep forgetting that this is my senior thesis. Thanks for reminding me
  8. Congrats on the move! My wife and I just moved up to Washington, we were sick of California as well. Homes are just as expensive up where we are though.
  9. Just imagine if we kept our former bullpen pitchers Darren O'Day - 53.1 IP, 53 SO, 1.05 WHIP, 2.36 ERA Francisco Rodriguez - 34.1 IP, 41 SO, 1.05 WHIP, 2.10 ERA Joel Peralta - 52.1 IP, 55 SO, 1.11 WHIP, 3.10 ERA Fernando Rodney - 49.2 IP, 66 SO, 1.49 WHIP, 3.99 ERA Latroy Hawkins - 54.1 IP, 40 SO, 1.27 WHIP, 2.98 ERA Darren Oliver - 41 IP, 32 SO, 1.27 WHIP, 3.73 ERA Jordan Walden - 41.2 IP, 48 SO, 1.06 WHIP, 2.59 ERA Kevin Gregg - 47.1 IP, 41 SO, 1.33 WHIP, 2.85 ERA Will Smith - 22 IP, 23 SO, .95 WHIP, 3.27 ERA We would be in the wild card hunt with this bullpen
  10. Yet they all cheer for Ortiz when he bats
  11. Are you loving in Washington cezero. I just moved to Kenmore a couple weeks ago
  12. Soriano went 3/4 today with a hbp, home run and 4 RBIs. In 4 games he has 16 hits, 6 homers, and 18 RBIs.
  13. I by no means think Soriano is a HOF, but I can't help but wonder if he would be going into the HOF if he stayed at 2nd base. While his numbers are not great for an outfielder, they would be remarkable for a 2nd basemen. I am predicting he finished with this slash line. .270 AVG, .320 OBP, .500 SLG%, 2300 Hits, 500+ 2B, 30 3B, 450 HR, 500 BB, 300 SB, 1250 Runs, 1250 RBI. To me those would be HOF 2nd basemen numbers. Hall of very good outfield numbers. I remember him being mad and not wanting to move to the outfield, I can see why.
  14. Yes they have scouts. They just got their tenderfoot and they are hoping they will be Eagle scouts in two years.
  15. Claus (the world series MVP) , Fuller and Donnelly (7 shut out IP) were all on steroid lists. I guess the angels WS is tainted as well
  16. Beautyshop just to see Kevin Bacon play a gay hair stylist
  17. I havent been on here lately and I just went to Europe and watched a ton of movies on the plan ride and also got to see some in theaters, so here we go. Django Unchained - Great movie. At first I thought it might be one of Tarantinos best, but as time has waned I don't feel that way. Still it was very funny and I have no idea how Leonardo Dicaprio did not get an oscar nomination for that role. I get chills thinking about his character. Jamii Fox was pretty good, Samuel L Jackson was very funny and Christoph Waltz was great as usual. Chasing Mavericks - The movie got horrible reviews, but I am a surfer at heart so I wanted to watch it. Maybe you have to have that passion for the ocean to understand, but I thought it was amazing. The kid who plays the main character was a little to whiny at times, but Gerald Butler was perfect for the role of the old wise surger. Watching that movie just made me want to paddle into the ocean and listen to the waves go by me. It was a great tribute to Jay Moriaty. Silver Linings Playbook - Great movie, excellent acting. Bradley Cooper really suprised me in this one, terrific job. Deniro was good as is Jenifer Lawrence. I never saw her previous work. I don't know if she deserved best actress, but she was good none the less. End of Watch - While the movie was entertaining at times, it was to unbelievable for me. I did like some of the dialogue between the main characters, it was to boring for me. I finished watching it, but it just did not cut it for me. Waiting for superman - fell asleep half way through. Tried to watch again, same thing. I am an educator and this was just boring rhetoric I have heard before. More people pointing out the obvious problems, but no real solutions. Safety not Guranteed - Amazing! Best movie I have seen in a while. Interesting plot, tremdous acting and direction. I have already watched this movie three times and I can not wait to see it again. If you have not seen this, please check it out. It is a romantic dromedy or sorts. I don't really know how to categorise it other than I loved it. I keep trying to get my wife to watch it, but she thinks it is a raunchy comedy for some reason. Life of Pi - It was a great movie at times, boring movie at times. I love Irrfan Khan and all the work he does. He was no different in this movie. His narrative of the last time he saw the tiger was very depressing. It made me want to cry. The special effects were good, I don't think Ang Lee deserved to win best oscar, I felt like this was more of a lifetime achievement award for him. I never read the book so I do not have that to fall back on. Argo - Great movie. I can see why it won picture of the year. It is beyond me how Affleck did not even get an oscar nod for best director. He is 3 for 3 in my book now as director. Gone baby gone is still my favorite, followed by Argo and the Town. Wreck it Ralph - I highly reccomend. Great movie to watch by yourself, with the spouse or with the family. Fun to watch. Identity Thief - How people found this funny is beyond me. Total crap, I had to fast forward it at times just to finish the dam thing. Jason Bateman sure can be annoying sometimes. Now you see me - I had high expectations for this movie so maybe it ruined it for me a bit. I heard about a big suprise ending, but I saw it coming from the beginning. Still it was pretty good. I wish I got to see Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg act a little more. I felt like they never got to get their characters going. Michael Caine was really just a name. Morgan Freema was good, but the same as Harrelson and Eisenberg, you never got to see them stretch themselves. It was still entertaining though. This is the end - Funniest movie I have seen in a while. So many great lines, especially a very comical exchange between Danny McBride and James Franco. Highly reccomend, but very raunchy and not for everyone. The to do list - I am a big Aubrey Plaza fan, and this movie does not change that. Nothing valuable to be taken from this movie, but it is just a funny dirty raunchy film. It is unique because it is a girl being raunchy and from her perspective. It might be like an American Pie for chicks. People in the theater either walked out or laughed hysterically. Not for everyone, but I was very amused. So as you can tell I saw a lot of movies. Safety not guranteed was the best though and the one I would say to watch ASAP.
  18. This guy had every reason to hang up his cleats 5 years ago. The fact that he is still sticking around shows his love for the game. It is probably a good reminder for the young guys that it will come to an end one day and enjoy it while you can.
  19. He became the oldest person to hit a walk off home run in mlb history. I was more impressed by his quotes as it reminds me of what the angels are not at the moment. "I'm a little old to be dunked with water. I love it. I've been preaching all year one guy is not more important than another and it's going to take all 25 of us, even more than that, to win ballgames and we've done it all year. It's just exciting to be a part of it." "That's what keeps you coming back," Giambi said. "There's no moment more special than when you get that embrace from your teammates and all those smiles. It's exciting." "I love how we're growing and that's what I keep telling them, we're growing and we're going to keep learning and learning and getting better and better," Giambi said. "Even in the down times we were learning. It's exciting how it's all coming together." His 713 OPS is better than half our team. I just wish the angels were having the same excitement. I don't know if we have anybody on our team like Giambia that is a player/coach. Tori was last year, I don't think we have it this year.
  20. We should have kept Greinke and Chatwood to bat 4 and 5 in our lineup. We would have had more runs scored
  21. People keep talking about the cliff. I keep thinking we fell a long time ago, I just don't know where we will land
  22. Catholic church is a joke. Leading organization of child molestation in the world, yet it gets tax breaks and millions donated.
