I think it's weird that the keep saying it was east of La Habra. Wouldn't that make it in Brea? Anyway, this is the closest I've been to a quake so I agree it's not like any 5.1 that I've felt. I can't imagine being this close to a 6.0.
I think they measure from where the city center is because the location is always given as 1 or 3km away from say La Habra or Buena Park. You can take the latitude and longitude from usgs and put that in google and it comes up as 241 Industry Ave. in La Habra.

If a kid is going to lose his starting position. Do they have to give a verbal first then letter of warning then dismissal from that depth chart position?
Does the player get to have a meeting with union rep, his position coach, and hc before this move takes effect?
There is already unions in professional sports and those issues don't arise.

Yup, sea snails.

Very happy with this deal, the starting pitching depth made me skeptical of the team's success this season but this helps a lot. Good job Dipoto.

Would there even be cell signals that far out in the ocean?

Gotta love it.
Anyhow, here's a good quote from gubernatorial candidate Richard Tisei, a gay (and married) Republican who--obviously--supports gay marriage but also abortion rights:
“The Republican Party should lead the way in getting government off our backs, out of our wallets, and away from our bedrooms, and the Party hierarchy would be wise to adopt platforms that promote these values, which are shared by an overwhelming number of citizens in Massachusetts.â€
Here, here! Where did that Republican Party go? When did it become so fused with the Religious Right and their 19th century worldview?
In the 1980's.

What if she has drowned two of your kids and is trying to drown the third one, can you pop her in the face then?

Title is wrong, 79 percent said they would vote for him again. It's from that 21 percent sample that 71 percent said they wouldn't vote for him again and 55 percent of Democrats wouldn't. 2016 is going to be fun around here because Hillary will be the nominee if she runs and the GOP primary is going to be so much fun.

That doesn't say that people are actually stoned, just that they test positive for weed which stays in a person's system for up to a month.

The Supreme Court is going to take a huge dump on this law, guaranteed.

Why would security necessarily be a problem? We're talking about people convicted of DUI's.
They could even use incentives to ensure a good job. Let an impartial third party decide if the work is above par -- if so, make the hours worked worth $15 instead of $10/hour. This isn't rocket science.
Because the end result of this is a bad incentive to arrest people (like asset forfeiture in drug cases) so they can do menial work and it would probably displace some of those city workers. Breathalyzers aren't exactly the most accurate indicators either. As for Culbreath, she can go to prison for a long, long time and I wouldn't care. But if we are talking about 25k for someone who gets a DUI and didn't cause an accident or otherwise drive recklessly, I think that's probably too punitive for me.
-
Probably because those non-violent criminals would do a crappy job and you have to account for security too.
-
I get why you would want such punitive penalties but especially in SoCal, if you take away a license for such a long period, that probably means they won't have a job. Which just means they are more likely to get into crime because if they don't have a good support system, well people gotta eat. Isn't the average DUI around 10k already? You could always throw them in jail for longer but the prisons are overcrowded already. I'm not really sure what the solution is here,

There is definitely potential for distraction and chemistry issues but that's not Sam's fault. Another good point being brought up is that Missouri had a pretty good season and they knew the entire time, if a college team doesn't get distracted why should we expect that out of professionals? I think the players will be fine, it's the coaches and execs who might have a harder time. I will definitely be checking out the middle rounds of the draft now when before I wouldn't give a crap.
-
They are paid to win games but I doubt any other mid round pick would require polling of the players. I would hope that any team that drafts him would just tell the coaches and players that if they don't like it, too damn bad because he can play.
-
I'd like to be optimistic but take a look at this. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20140209/michael-sam-draft-stock/?eref=sihp
The contrast in courage between Sam and these executives commenting anonymously is quite large. I know only one team needs to have the balls to pick him but most teams say they don't want the "baggage" like being gay is comparable to the many misfits the NFL drafts every year.
-
It's probably a knock on his strikeout ability.

I went to Maryvale last year to see the Angels play the Brewers, it was cheap and I saw Vernon Wells crush one that bounced out of the stadium,

La Habra Earthquake

Puente Hills fault scares me as much as the San Andreas. Puente Hills would send its strongest waves to downtown LA and the areas south of the hills which includes where I live would be hit really hard.
