  1. If he is at worst a solid arm then he would be a great addition to the bullpen don't you think?
  2. Depends on the years and money committed to all parties involved for me. All things being equal I lean towards Tanaka. Would be nice to sure up two spots for the price of one though.
  3. So what's the difference if we get under it with trades at the end of the year? I thought Fletcher said it was calculated at the end.
  4. Tax Is calculated at the end of year. So we could always trade Chris or Howie or both. Everyone says Lindsay should be MLB ready towards the 2nd half of the year. If we are still in it then eat the lux tax and go all out. If we are out make the trades and get under the tax.
  5. I just read this on mlbtraderumors. If I were to give a pitcher that kind of money it would be Kershaw
  6. Garza is a #3 but has the stuff for a #2. He will be a good sign even at 4/60.
  7. Reprts are Holland had micro fracture surgery. Estimate recover time is 8-9 months. WOW
  8. . Fletcher said Garza would have signed already if offered a 5/75 mil contract. Fletcher thinks he will sign for an AAV around 14 mil
  9. Garza and Balfour. If we are out of it by the Allstar break we trade Aybar and or Kendrick or both.
  10. I say we just give Garza the 4/60 unless we have a real shot at Tanaka.
  11. What's the hold up on pulling the trigger on Garza? The contract seems pretty reasonable. Is because we think we have a chance at Tanaka?
  12. For me Garza is plan B. Just not feeling Capuano. Looking at the numbers they look pretty similar but watching them pitch Garza has more talent or upside to me.
  13. I'm good with signing Tanaka. I'm just trying to think of different ways we can improve or depth and rotation if signing Tanaka or Garza doesn't happen.
  14. Check out his numbers the last couple years. He is making 5 mil this year and is a lefty. If everyone says we won't have that big of a drop off in offense between Aybar and Romine and Romine might be better defensively then do it. He is under team control for 5 years and his contract is pretty friendly. 5 mil, 7mil, 9 mil and a 10 mil option followed by 11 mil option.
  15. Exactly! Niese is signed for 3 more year and two option years. Hi last option year being the most exp at 11 mil. Seems like a no brainer.
  16. I've posted this in the past but I haven't gotten much of response. Why not trade Aybar for Niese and a prospect and sign Balfour. Niese is only making 5 mil this year an he is a solid left. He has put up better numbers than Maholm and Cap over the last couple years.
  17. That's how I remember it. Why can't we do that withTanaka and or Garza?
  18. Niese wouldn't be a bad plan B or C. Lefty under contract for 5 more years( 5mil, 7 mil, 9 mil, 10 mil option and 11 mil option). Projected to avg around 2 war pitcher each year for the contract. Gives us money to sign trout and go after Max or another big FA pitcher in 2015.
  19. They have to pay about 3mil but they save about 25 mil this year
  20. It's complete bullshit but was expected.
