In the AL I don't think bunting is smart in any situation really. Unless you have a Jeff Mathis level hitter at the plate. Obviously it's a whole different story in the NL with pitchers hitting.

No real significant talent in the minors close to being big league ready, huge contracts to underperforming veterans, Weaver and Wilson aging....it could be years before we truly contend again. Going to have to draft well. I don't see us making the playoffs with the current core (Aybar, Howie, Frieri, Iannetta, etc.). I think you sell those guys off, and try to regroup for 2016 and beyond with cost controlled prospects. The fact that I think they should do this means Arte will probably sign Cano and every other big name free agent the next 3 years though. I've had enough "winning the offseason" for a lifetime. I think it's time to make smarter financial investments in young players IMO>

There is no good reason for Cowgill playing over Calhoun. None. It's just Scioscia being stubborn and going with the useless veteran.

Cowgill was brought in to be a depth player. The bottom line is Scisocia has his choice to either play Calhoun or Cowgill, and he's chosen the wrong guy the last 2 nights.

Trumbo is the most overrated Angel player easily in recent memory. He's a .250/.780 hitter that can't play defense or run the bases well. He's a 2 WAR player which is basically an average player. Nothing special at all. Plus he consistently has a low OBP and tons of strikeouts.

You're missing the point, and something tells me you're doing this on purpose. You understand what is being explained but have to contradict everything. The point is that this season is over. Calhoun has a chance to be a part of the Angels future next season and beyond. Cowgill will probably never play another game for the Angels after this season. We should be prepping for the future and seeing what youngsters with potential can bring to the table. We should not be playing washed up veterans with little MLB talent like Brad Hawpe and Colin Cowgill. That helps no one.

How was signing Burnett a miss by Dipoto? Burnett has been remarkably durable and good basically his whole career. Dipoto was supposed to know he was going to get hurt? Madson I agree on.

I like Lindsey the best, however I think it's awesome that we have this kind of depth at that position. We have a MLB 2B (Howie), a AAA 2B (Green), a AA 2B (Lindsey), and a A+ 2B (Yarbrough). Hopefully we can use this depth to acquire some good pitchers via trade.

He has been given plenty of talent. It's on him and his coaching staff that most of the players perform better once traded to other teams.
