  1. Unless his blister starts flaring up, I don't think there's any way Ohtani will come out of this game if he has a 1-hitter going.
  2. 3 Angels now have an OPS over 1.000 for the month of July: Ohtani, Ward, and Rengifo!
  3. Moniak's first extra base hit this season off of a lefty followed by a 2 run bomb! Ohtani needs to give them at least 7 innings now, and hopefully 8!
  4. Ohtani pitching like a guy that's really pumped about the trade yesterday! He'd given up 14 ER in 16.1 innings in his last 3 starts. As mentally tough as he is, the trade rumors might have been getting to him a little as well.
  5. As absolutely horrible with the bat as Walsh was, they were 9-8 in the games he started because the pitching was really consistent then. However, they were 8-5 during that stretch in the games he didn't start. I just hope Cabbage can continue to be a decent run producer. They got basically nothing out of Walsh.
  6. His ownership reminds me of Peter Angelos'. Orioles were good at first because he bought free agents, and then stunk for 15 years.
  7. Here's 39 that would. Some of these guys had to have jobs during the off season to be able to pay their bills. Others were multi-millionaires, but played hurt when most other guys would have gone on the IL. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_consecutive_games_played_streaks
  8. So nice to see the offense show up at home against a team that was won 3 of its last 16 games. Way to step up guys!
  9. I assumed this would be the first reply as far as a diagnosis. I was pretty shocked it took until the 6th reply. lol
  10. They need to win at least 4 of the next 5 games against the Pirates and Tigers before they face the Blue Jays and Braves on the road.
  11. I don't even pay attention to the name other than the "Angels" part and that they play in O.C. I started out a California Angels fan. I can care less what the name is. Never have.
  12. Rendon is waiting for his inevitable DFA where he can join the Rangers, or Astros as a DH since they both have stud 3rd basemen currently. Then, he'll go back to playing 140+ games and driving in 90+ runs.
  13. I wouldn't have said this 3 months ago, but I think Adell would have been able to put up similar offensive numbers as Renfroe has. However, I am waaaaaaay more comfortable with Renfroe as a defensive player.
  14. Really nice to see them bounce back from a horrendous loss. This is the first series they've won in over a month, but they need the sweep tomorrow!!!
  15. Moniak is now batting .500 with a runner on 1st base. He's batting .410 with an OPS of 1.249 with runners on any base. Ohtani leads MLB in that category at 1.153. I know his strikeout to walk ratio is horrible, but he's now into his 3 consecutive month of on overall OPS of .900+.
  16. Maybe the stat geeks upstairs are telling the 3rd base coaches to be more aggressive because that's what their metrics tell them.
  17. There's the Angels we know and love. 0-3 with no RBI's with a runner on 3rd. Why do I have a feeling that inning is going to come back to haunt them?
  18. A runner being thrown out at home is such a huge momentum shift from the offensive team to the defensive team. I don't see why you would EVER send a runner home with less than two outs unless you're 100% sure he's going to score unless he falls down.
  19. I was thinking about Frank Tanana today. On his 25th birthday, he already had 80 wins and over 1000 strikeouts! He was definitely on a Hall of Fame trajectory. Then, he completely lost his fastball. Never had arm surgery, just had to relearn how to pitch as a crafty lefty. He somehow managed to win 240 games though, and was in the trade that got the Angels Fred Lynn.
  20. Offensively this team reminds me a little of the 1977 Angels. Bobby Bonds was by far their best hitter. Nobody else was even close. Don Baylor had a little bit below average year for him. Grich and Rudi were the other two big free agent signings and they were pretty much injured all season. They only played in 116 games between them. They did have Dave Kingman on that team for 10 games before they traded him for Randy Stein who never pitched for the Angels. Kingman went on to hit 270 more home runs including 48 with 115 RBI's in 1979.
  21. That's so awesome for Stefanic! If he lives to be 100, he'll never forget beating the Yankees with a walk off hit!
  22. Unfortunately, through 4 shutout innings on 48 pitches, it has been so far. lol
  23. Yesterday should have been managed as a must win game. I know you can't do that every game, but a 7-3 lead at home against a team that you are chasing, and has owned this club for years now was as close to a must win game in July that you're going to have.
  24. I'm looking forward to the Angels' hitters flailing against Cy Severino tonight.
