Right now no one. Eventually it will be Trout. It is difficult when you have 2 guys getting paid like AP and JH and neither is the leader type. Trout is the only type A personality of the starting nine. Trumbo can also be a leader.

There are bo legitimate arms at AAA or AA. There are also no bats there either. Cowart and Witherspoon are hitting .140 and Lindsay is hitting .105. All are at Arkansas. Forget Salt Lake there is nothing there.

Blanton is terrible this year, was terrible last year and has been no better than mediocre throughout his career. Vargas is a .500 pitcher away from Seattle. Hansen has been going downhill for the last three years. CJ is a nibbling fool and Weaver is out for a few more weeks. I don't see a turn around any time soon. That doesn't even take in to account the struggling pen. Yikes!!

He is not going to run as much hitting in front of pujols, especially if Hamilton doesn't start producing. Also, Pujols doesn't like to be distracted by a runner on attemting to steal.

Innings eaters is another term for mediocre fpurth or fifth starter material. In the Angels case the three new innings eaters are even below that average. As for the pen. That is not the place for a bunch of soft tossers (unless it is a situational lefty).

That is a nightmare senario I have pkayed iver and over in my head. What a disaster that would be. This team needs a new voice, who that is I don't know. It is way past time for Sosh to move on. After the season, go after Bud Black.

Forget metrics and other stats for now. Anyone who has seen Blanton pitch in his career would know he is a pile. Guys whose fastball is 86-89 with no movement are going to get pounded as he has shown throughout his career. To offer this guy a 2 yr. deal that early in free agency was a horrific mistake. He could have been had on a Minor League deal two weeks later. The sad part is until Weave returns there is no replacement in the minors. Also, by that time Hanson should be on the DL.

I have a real problem with Vargas. Five innings , eight hits , five or more runs. Not just yhat , but alsohr is a FA at the end of the season. Imagine how much more the Angels could have received in return if Dipoto was more patient. Tampa, The Yanks, Cleveland all could have used a 1b/DH. I think Dipoto has done a horrific job of puting together this team. Let's see how long Artie can hold out before dumping the whole bunch.

Hire Percy just to tutor Wilson to get him to stop nibbling. No one attacked the zone better than Percy.

Dipoto has assembled a starting staff of 4 fives and Weaver who is on the DL. If all the starters perform to their norm this is a 80-85 win team at best. The disappointments are everywhere. Wilson mostly. I expected about what we sre seeing from the other starters.

Joe Maddon or Bud Black

They are unwatchable. They play with no emotion. Of course having no pitching doesn't help.

I am maybe more worried about the pen. Can the Angels hold a lead after 5-6 innings? Of course with Hanson and Blanton will we be in the game after 5 or 6 innings.

The Pen is a mess right now. Downs doesn't appear to have anything left. Jepsen has been hurt, Burnett is iffy and Williams has been bad. Other than Weave this is not a staff that will complete many games. This is scary with eight days to the opener.
