Great to see Adell and Rengifo in there again.
Adell better cease the base-running blunders or Wash is going to bench him.

What a huge signing if Sano can keep hitting and play a decent 3B/1B.

Ward.
Walsh and Wards last names always screwed me up...
We had those those and Wade lol

This game feels oddly large for mid-April. If we lose we've now lost 4/5 series to start the year. if we win we're over .500 and potentially in 1st.

Missed the whole game being at my son's game. Beatdown in Fenway always nice

Yes, it is. It is a waste of money that only blocks Schanuel and doesn't help his career. Salt Lake won't help him, that ballpark is not going to make him a better hitter or face major league pitching. This year the Angels should only be focused on the advancement of all their young players like Texas did three years ago instead of chasing a .500 season with patchwork veterans.
Fuck, Cron, Belt or any other cast off burnout that will waste another one of these young guys development.
I would agree with you if it were truly an organizational plan.
If we're going young to rebuild then it was stupid to trade assets for Gio and to not trade Ohtani. It was stupid to spend our entire budget on a pen.Nolan looks 100% overmatched right now and some time in AAA would probably be good for him. Someone like Josh Bell could have been had for cheap.

Hah, I was pilloried for suggesting the Angels add some semi-expendable 1B depth and start Schanuel in AAA all winter.
I think he’s ready for MLB growing pains but spending a month in AAA working on things, feasting on thin air, working on a few things mechanically and perhaps picking up a few OF innings would bode him well for the long-haul.
Belt is still available. And I still like Sano despite his rough last couple games.
Guys like Kendrick and Aybar got AAA reboots in their initial seasons too. It’s not a knock on Schanuel or his MLB readiness. I can’t remember exactly but Trout either started in AAA after his first season, or returned from a brief injury straight to MLB.
Same. I still think Cron or Belt isn't the worst idea.

Hicks and Sano are k machines

Same old Angels. Get RISP with less than 2 outs and then start whiffing.

need a lousy single as hudler would say

I'm calling a Sano bomb today

Of course Eddings, Angel's favorite umpire. Great lead off at bat there stolen from Rengifo

Regardless of how you feel about Thaiss, that wasn't on the catcher.

Well this blows. Thais is not a catcher.

UGH that was an easy double play right at 2B.

He was handed a two-run lead right out of the gate before he threw his first pitch. He gets no pass from me. Yes, the umpire was inconsistent, but good pitchers learn to adapt to that. The problem is he's not a good pitcher.. I like Wash, but I am now interested in knowing if he plans on following through with his admonition that players not pulling their weight won't be playing and won't be up here. There are several not pulling their weight right now. Maybe that bus route between farm stops can start putting rubber to the road and start making some deliveries to the various stops along the route.
Sandy is a good SP. Almost any team would love him as their 4 or 5. Problem is he's our 1.

Rendon is the closest we've seen him in a long while.

So you’d prefer a guy who produced negative WAR last year, has serious back problems, and wasn’t picked up by any team to a guy who is starting slow but was a 2.7 win player in 125 games last year?
The bigger point I'm making, which I feel you're ignoring, is we are unnecessarily deep in the OF resulting with JA on the bench, and not a lot of options at 1B if Nolan struggles.
It's less about the players and more about the depth. Belt instead of Cron would be a fine option.

You haven’t made one argument for actually signing Cron or how he could help the team, all you have to say about him is that he’s not some other guy. That should tell you he will do absolutely nothing to help this team
Nolan is our 1B who was playing college baseball last year. I'm excited about the kid, but he might be over his head. If Nolan has to go down, I'm not thrilled with Drury being our starting 1B.
I get that Sano might be viewed as a viable option at 1B.However Cron was decent in 2021 and 2002, albeit with home games in Coors. Our office liked him enough to trade for him last year in our big playoff push.
In terms of depth I think 1B, given where Nolan is at in his career, would be more wise than Hicks being a 5th OF and JA sitting on the bench. -

Sano leads all of baseball in average exit velocity 101.4 MPH.
We have Schanuel, Drury and Sano. We're good.
I'm loving Sano and think he just just be the full-time DH.
I'd prefer JA playing more in the OF, and Cron would be a better option than Hicks being a 5th OF.
Stephenson done for the year
