Hard disagree. Get as much young talent into the org as possible. It's not money and this team isn't competing. If Arte can pay $$$ to get a recent first round pick as a PTBNL or something like that, why not?
Why does it matter what the payroll is, as long as it's below the luxury tax? It's not like taking on more money will keep us from signing anyone who would lead us to the playoffs.
One huge advantage that large market clubs have over small market ones is the ability to throw money around at young talent. The Yankees and Sox did this to build up their farm systems before the hard cap on draft slots went into place. Arte never did. The Dodgers take on bad deals to get in talent. Arte should, too.
We had the perfect opportunity to do that with the braves and Iglesias. Our owner is cheap.

Another year not in the playoffs

It appears Arte gave Perry the off-season budget, and Perry spent most of it on the pen, which still sucks. Other than Arte selling I'm at a loss on what this team needs.

9-14 record with a 2-7 conference record.
I don't believe that's enough to get fired during the season.

Glaus got fired from a HS coaching gig? He must have done something bad to get sacked during the season.

I don’t remember how it was described about Anderson’s outing last night, something like exceptional, for throwing 6 innings of 3 run ball, so I guess Sandoval was exceptional today for allowing 2 runs in 5 innings. Those are the rules.
TA earned a QS and Sandy did not. Those are the rules. Also Pillar sucks.

Sandy just can never get that this out

Can he pitch?
That is a fair question to ask positional players on this crappy team

^^^^. Initially I was rolling my eyes, but it makes sense. Pillar is just here, hopefully, to play when Ward, Adell, or Moniak need a true breather. Adams or whichever youngster wouldn't benefit from sitting on the bench here, and if they were playing, would be taking away time from Moniak.
I said elsewhere, but there's a silver lining here. Adell and Moniak have had enough time in the bigs now where, by end of 2024, the Angels should be able to know if they're legit options going forward or not. And neither were getting consistent playing time so far. This allows that. It'll give the Angels enough of a timeline to see if either can really be counted on 2025+ onward, or if it's time to cut bait and pursue an OF in the winter.Could Hicks not have done that?

Watching a Moniak at bat makes it very easy to understand the Pillar signing.
Disagree.
Moniak at least has theoretically has a ceiling.
Pillar was cut by the worst team in MLB -
