  1. If Fox Sports ever fires Jose, I will quit watching Anyels baseball. He is our lil' latino Harry Carey.
  2. I really hope Travis Witherspoon makes the big club at some point. Dude has a magnetic smile and personality. He would be great in the clubhouse.
  3. Just flipped on today's game (DVR action). I'm all of one minute in, watching the pre-game whereupon we find Terry Smith and Jose interviewing bench coach Rob Picciolo. The topic is Spring Training...Fire away, Jose! "It's been a different one, so into your planning, tell me what went (pause) when you saw the big roster and you saw all the pitchers coming in, some guys who needed to leave into comparing to other spring trainings." God bless Picciolo for giving an answer to whatever the hell that was.
  4. I'd think every day in Detroit is a "Good Times" convention.
  5. Slight chance I'm going to the Euro Miami Vice Convention in Paris that week, but no reservations have been made yet. If anyone wants to join me, here's the link: http://www.a-llevents.com/
  6. Hmmm...I'm debating whether to wish LT a Happy Birthday or not.
  7. "Good hitters (long pause) will get damned (EDITORS NOTE: I think he meant to say 'jammed.') (Long pause). Bad hitters will get jammed too, but more times than not bad hitters will get fooled." Terry Smith in bailout/translation mode: "Yeah, they'll get fooled more often." Jose: "Yes."
  8. You need to be acknowledged for this. Congratulations. That's a huge weight loss in any time frame. Keep up the good work, Adam!
  9. Ironic that his custody makes it safe for him to be the 'rebel' he wants us to think he is. Pretty much the definition of a wuss.
  10. The pleasure, the privelege was mine, Katie. Great to finally meet you. We'll try to chat for more than 5 seconds next time around. You may have left before Blarg tried on my white coat. He looked better in it than I do, though I can't say that's a huge endoresement.
  11. Agreed, for the most part. The second season went off the rails, but I just sort of embraced it. The Vegas stuff was bananas. It was part insanity and I had to rewind some of it to figure out if what I saw was what I actually saw. It was also pretty interesting seeing Andrew Dice Clay in Mad Men costuming. I remember this one seen with a band singing this song "Hope to change my life today" in some Vegas lounge. A true wtf moment.
  12. DR wasn't hungover this morning. DR had to catch an early flight. If it makes you feel any better -- and it should -- I'm watching an episode of Miami Vice right now called "Down for the Count" (Part I). The second part of the episode makes me sad so I have to fastforward some of it. The episode "Heart of Night" is not one of my favorites. The teaser is shot day for night and looks bad, although there is a good shoot out. I recommend the sort of prequel to this episode called "Golden Triangle." It's a two parter and is among my favorite Vice. Back to last night...I killed a pack of Twizzlers in my hotel room and they were all fantastic. Each and every one of them. I passed out in a heap of sugar sometime around midnight. Of course, the one night I can sleep well, I gotta be up at 7am to get to the airport. My hotel people told me yesterday that the shuttle leaves every half hour so I bust my arse to get down to the lobby just before 7. And there's no shuttle. The dude pulls up ten minutes later and tells me he's got to wait about half an hour. You can imagine my joy. I nearly jumped him Tubbs style and took away his keys. But, I was patient, ordered a $2.45 coffee (black), and finally got on the shuttle thanks to the Shuttle Master giving me permission. Got on my flight and I was tempted to ask the steward if he happened to catch any shows on HGTV last night. I love landing at John Wayne Airport. So fresh and so clean.
  13. Just returned from Angels Fan Fest. Hats off to the lads and lassies who put so much work into an awesome event. I use the word awesome too much, like most southern Californians who speak English, but tonight it genuinely applies. Now I'm back in my hotel room with my feet up watching two homos on some HGTV show trying to figure out where to buy a home. One of them just said, "we don't need bunk beds.". I guess that's because no one in the house needs to be on top. Anyways, good time tonight in meeting some folk from the board such as Jody, Angelsredrum and some others. Surprisingly, no one wanted to hit me in the face. I got to sit next to PercySquint who regaled me with imitations of Gary Busey as Hannibal Lector and Gary Busey as Marlon Brando in Apocolypse Now. They were remarkably the same, but equally entertaining(?). Also at my table were some nice ladies who have season seats near me so they took me under their wing since I'm flying solo and allowed me and my white linen jacket to sit at their table. So, there's me and PercySquint, killing it with the hat. We are a well-adjusted bunch. Tim Salmon kicked off the night with interesting and thoughtful answers to our questions. He advised the athlete in us to stay nervous. Sadly, there was a death in Arte Moreno's family this week, so he could not join us. But Jerry dipoto was there and I swear he has his hair trimmed to a specific height every day. Perhaps Jose Mota keeps a pair of hedge trimmers handy. Victor Rojas was the highlight of the round table of writers and broadcasters, telling us a couple good stories about Gabe Kapler and A-rod. If it wasn't so g-damn hard to type all this on an iPad I'd regurgitate it here, but let's just say that, in the words of James Brown, Victor don't take no mess. There was a nice showing of some of our more promising minor leaguers including Kohl Calhoun and Travis Witherspoon (had to bite my tongue so I wouldn't tell him I could be the Crockett to his Tubbs, not that his youth would allow him to be in on the joke). You know it's not a bad night when you have the last Angels pitcher from today's 26 hour game sitting at your table, with the cra-cray sunburn to show for it. I had enchiladas. My hands hurt from typing. I'm outta here. Btw, the fruits went with a condo.
  14. I didn't touch it. All my energy re: Mota goes into the Mota-isms thread. But this wiki is freaking funnies.
  15. Excellent work, as always , Squint. Really appreciate you taking the time to post the pics. I saw your hat from across the diamond but wilted like a gentle flower in the Arizona sun and could not muster the energy to harass you. I may have an extra for tonight if anyone's interested.
  16. Either way, I'm sorry to hear about your situation. As a moderate traveller, I thank you for not forcing the trip and possibly subjecting the other people on the plane to the flu. I hope your wife is feeling better today and that there is still an option to travel. If you do go to the doc, make sure to get a prescription for heavy cough syrup. It will really help on the long flight. No joke.
  17. Good work, Percy. If I see your hat at the game today, I'll introduce myself. If you don't want that kind of action, turn and walk away, or just tell me that you spotted someone else with the same hat at the game and that I should look for him. Percysquint doppelgänger.
  18. Steve Buscemi was in an episode of Miami Vice, FYI. His co-star was Willie Nelson. It's not in my top ten Vice episodes, but it has an interesting and darker tone to it.
  19. Just saw a clip on Conan. Looks brutal. If that was the clip they're using, the film is in big trouble.
  20. Please, no weirdos. Pm me if interested. Section 17. Price is diet Pepsi, some water, maybe some grub, but we're basically looking for people who want to enjoy the Angels.
  21. Thanks, Jabroni. Anyone headed over for drills tomorrow? Btw, for those of you who haven't arrived in Arizona yet, it's hot in har. Sunscreen, hats and two shirts a day weather. It's dry, hot and dusty. Everywhere I look it feels like a location for Breaking Bad. Just avoided a meth head at the conveniently located Del Taco.
  22. Your current recipe is very heavy in natural sugars, so unless you're burning lots of calories you will likely see a weight gain or no weight loss. The greens is the way to go...kale, spinach, etc. Maybe you can chop them up before juicing them? I've just started using myofusion powder since I'm trying cut waaaay down on sugars and carbs. I use it the afternoon when I want to destroy Del Taco or a bag of chips. It helps fill me up and it distracts me until dinner. The funny thing is, since I'm on the road, I just took down a couple Del Taco tacos.
  23. Good work, Squint and thanks for the pics. What's a good time to get to the Angels practice field to see the drills, etc? I wanna go on Friday.
  24. The hair is really throwing me off, but not as much as the fact that he's wearing Steve Finley's number.
