  1. Didn't say we could but it might be worth seeing if there GM out there we can fleece for him.
  2. Just some perspective on Trumbo. Since August 1st, 2012: 145 games 558 AB 69 R 129 H 22 2B 0 3B 26 HR 83 RBI 45 BB 183 K .231 avg .289 OBP .410 SLG .699 OPS That is a season's worth of suck. Might be time to see if some team wants to give up a top of the rotation projectable cost controlled starter for him.
  3. I remember when Howie Kendrick was supposed to injury prone...it was funny then, too
  4. Tonight in SLC: 2-2, 2 BB, 1 R, 1 RBI hitting .344
  5. If Dipoto is into any type of advanced metrics he should be...high OBP, power, speed, defense...I I think Dipoto knows that if he brought Calhoun up he'd still be behind Shuck for starts which is why bench fodder like Hawpe and Cowgill are on the MLB roster
  6. Shuck has grit...it's like catnip to Scioscia. It may take a trade or injury for him to see the light of day
  7. Which can go for a lot of these "I told you so" threads...Alex Torres, Jean Segura, Patrick Corbin, Tyler Chatwood, etc...all these guys were question marks and yet Reagins/Dipoto SHOULD have known what they'd be doing right now.
  8. Calhoun was injured at the beginning of the year so he missed an early shot when people started going on the DL. As for now, Shuck is gritty so Scioscia will love him. He has no power and has trouble fielding his position but his 0 HR's reminds him of WIllits and that's priceless
  9. You mean he didn't see him as a potential Ace/Cy Young candidate this early when he traded for him as the Diamondback's GM? Shocker No one did...what's your point?
  10. AZ fans were pissed that the FO was dumping the Diamondback's ace and they, the fans, knew nothing about the prospects they were getting so the FO had to sell it as they were getting a "proven winner" in Saunders. To claim Dipoto and co. didn't know who they were getting in Corbin and Skaggs is some major spin. I get it, you don't like what's happening to the Angels, but, please, have some sense.
  11. No, it's about doing what's best for the team. At the time Vlad was seeking a multi-year deal, at least two years, while Matsui was happy to sign for one year. After the offers dried up, Vlad settled for one year in TEX. Angels paid less for the same performance and actually got someone who could play the OF more then once a month with a DL visit.
  12. I hope you are kidding with this statement. Reagins was the one who traded those three...to Dipoto in AZ.
  13. Yep, the guy mashes at every level, including against lefties. Which means, of course, Mike will platoon him Brendan Harris or some other such nonsense.
  14. Hmmm...might be time to bring this guy up: http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=CF&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=594777 Just plug him in and see what he can do
  15. The only person who knows what Trout is thinking, at this point, is Trout...unless some are claiming to have the ability to read minds.
  16. The Vlad signing was a magical capper to an eventful offseason that also saw the Angels sign Escobar, Colon, and Guillen. I remember thikning that the line-up is going to thump when you considered Salmon, Glaus, and GA was part of the mix but injuries robbed us of the chance to really see that line-up in action for more than a few games. Guererro did struggle in the playoffs though: 2004 - 2007: 11/60 .183 with 1 HR 7 RBI He came back stronger in 2008/2009: 21/59 .356 with 1 7 RBI (near 1.000 OPS) WIth him on the downslope of his career, I didn't think it was a big deal that they parted ways after '09. Playing in Arlington revived his career a bit (.300/.345/.841 w/.315/.354/.881 playing in TEX) but even playing in BALT couldn't save him in '11. As it was, in '10, Matsui was statistically similar to Guerrero (.274/.367/.820) so I don't imagine it would have made a difference if he styed.
  17. How is it "Albert's team"? Because he's paid the most? They may cater to him because of his standing in baseball but I highly doubt Trout feels answerable to him. Right now, Trout is the most recognizable asset on the team and is the future of the franchise. Who do you think they've been centering their marketing around? Who do you think they'll keep in mind when thinking of future moves and the direction of the franchise? It won't be Big Al.
  18. I expect the team to finish above .500 but out of the playoffs. Unless one of Hanson, Blanton, Richards,or Williams can establish themselves as a solid third option with Vargas out, 60% of their starts are in question. I like the way the BP is coming together and I think Frieri has the stuff to establish himself as a premier closer. Here are some other predictions: Josh Hamilton will finish with an OPS above .800 but the low .800's Pujols will make a DL trip at some point if he keeps struggling numbers-wise Downs will get traded if they are floundering at the All Star break Trumbo will finish with an OPS under .800 The next two weeks are crucial. If they don't make significant gains in terms of wild card standing, I think you will see some movement on the roster, possibly given Jimenez and Calhoun some steady reps.
  19. But it is entertaining though, isn't it?
  20. Take the sentiment out and why would anyone want Saunders? The guy had one good year 4 seasons ago and he averages a 1.40 WHIP .280 BAA. Outside of Safeco this season he has a 1.61 WHIP .321 BAA.
  21. Frieri is solid...it would have to be a hell of an offer to give him up
  22. It's really not a good thing since we don't know what we have in Hanson.
  23. It depends on who you are comparing...If the choice is 1 year of Santana at $13.5 mil or two of Blanton at $15 mil, no question on Santana but i would have preferred neither.
