Some preliminary details on the financial aspects of the contract:

Remember Shawn Wooten?
Deja vu all over again.

He was healthy, last I heard.
Thanks, Jeff. Your insight is always appreciated.

I believe it does open today.
Generally I only go back there if there is some interesting story. Most all of the prospects interesting to fans are in big league camp.
OK, I'll bite. Any news on Nate Smith? Where does he stand on his rehab from his shoulder surgery?

Bengie Molina too....
Bengie was signed as an undrafted free-agent--not an international signing--so not the same thing.

If the players strike they forfeit their salary.
Similarly, player salaries are not paid when there is a labor dispute related lock-out.

nope, beatlesrule killed it.
To clarify, based on predicted runs scored/runs allowed differential, Ohtaniland nailed it. Beatlesrule was excellent on the runs scored prediction, but had room to improve on the runs allowed prediction. But kudos to both.

So, the omniscient Ohtaniland wins.

Steve Bilko (duh)!

Never mind, have to wait until August.
I believe he can be signed immediately. If a player is "registered," he is eligible to be signed starting July 2. To register, the player must be 16 or will be 16 by September 1.

Because the latter probably gets selected somewhere in the first 15 picks. Maybe even the top 10.
Nope, TBW has Turang going at #29 to Cleveland. I understand this is only a mock draft, but in the scenario presented, Turang is available.

Hmmm....our doctor is named El Attrache???
Which I'm pretty sure is "the attacher" in spanish? Coincidence that he works for us? I think not...
I was under the impression that the name is Syrian (or middle-eastern) for "the deaf."

Anyone have a scouting report / insight on Tyler Stevens? 2017 draft pick, seems to be generating some pretty nice stats in relief (10+ K/9, sub-2 BB/9, WHIP around 1). Just promoted to Mobile and had a nice debut today (2IP, 1H, 0BB, 4Ks). Someone that could possibly be fast-tracked to help our pen?
I have the same question regarding Oliver Ortega. I don't believe he pitched last year but has two starts at Burlington this year with no runs allowed. WHIP of 0.44.

I jotted these stats down yesterday morning so they may have changed a bit, FYI.
Thought it'd be fun to do a slightly different prospect update...here's some of the guys that Eppler has traded/waived away.
Trevor Gott (traded for Yunel Escobar):
decent numbers in AAA, but across 3 seasons with the Nationals: 26 games, 21.2 IP, 7.89 ERA, 1.89

You could do that but I don’t believe they ever would. Pinch running usually requires a lot of getting loose that you wouldn’t be able to do if you’d been pitching. Your legs also might be kind of shot from pitching.
I honestly doubt Ohtani will ever pinch run.
I could see Ohtani being used as a pinch-runner on one of his "off" days. Suppose it's a tie game and AP leads off the ninth with a BH.

I also saw that Deveaux comment. Does he play AZL later this year, so we can see some actual pro stats? WOuld love to see him in Cedar Rapids (A) by 2019 at age 19, but that might be a bit too optimistic.
Cedar Rapids? Keep up with the times.

I wonder how much of it he's blown.
I'm guessing right around $26,490,000.

This only works if Richards is open to an extension on reasonable terms. If he wants a 5 yr/$125M deal, then no. If he would agree to a 4 yr. deal in the neighborhood of $60-$80M, I would definitely consider it.

Signed prospect RHP Juan Contreras for
$1.2M from our 2018 International Bonus Pool moneynothing.
1"Contreras signed with the Angels after the Major League Baseball-imposed Jan. 15 deadline, thus receiving no additional bonus on top of the $1.2 million deal he signed with Atlanta in 2016.'

I may be in the minority, but I would sign Stassi to an extension this winter if there is a reasonable deal to be had and not worry about another "starter":
Since his return from the Injured List on June 1, Stassi has been on a tear, emerging as a quality bat from an unlikely position. His 170 wRC+ is the seventh-best mark among hitters with at least 100 plate appearances over that stretch. He leads all catchers in wRC+ during that span, along with a handful of other categories, including slugging percentage.
