When they do a bullpen or sim game are they throwing 100%. Meaning fastballs as hard as they can.

Depends, (off day program, pregame work, or getting hot will also be different from a starter to a relief guy) normally, you would start off any regular day pen session at 50-60% Velo. Working on repetition in mechanics, grips, release point. Working each pitch 2-5 each (normally never throw 5 hard breaking balls in a row)..**This early time was also when we worked on grips, finger pressure, run, cut, turning over the change up etc. Which would also be done on flat ground 60-120 feet away** Ramp up 70-80% then 100% last 3-5 each pitch.

In game getting hot (you've stayed stretched out, some weighted ball, maybe some band work etc). 4-5 easy tosses out front of the rubber. 4-5 fast behind the rubber (over extenuate the mechanics including leg kick or rotate of lower half) then 10/15 pitches on the bump and I'm ready to go!

Threw 4-5 days a week. Plus, appearances. Try to take 2 days off. 1 of the 2 for full rest (lower half heavy lifting, stretching, video, going over charted outings, and scouting reports) 1 for swimming, light jog, light bike, bands, hot tub.

We can argue all day and night about Perry's abilities as a GM. About his spending power. About his autonomy. About who is making the calls.

The fact of the matter is that he is a coward. I don't care how much each individual believes it's Arte's fault. Of course a lot of it is. Most of it? Sure. But I don't feel bad for Perry at all, because he continues to allow himself to receive all the blame for the moves -- the trades, the non-trades, the offseason spending, the trajectory of 2024 and beyond. He flat out told us in October they were going to try and be competitive. Build a quality team. Spend money. And then he only signed mediocre bullpen guys, or guys that have had exactly 2 good months in their career. Didn't sign a starter. Didn't sign a single lineup addition. AND...didn't offer an explanation about the fact that the team was having a rebuilding year. In fact, pushed back against that notion. Why? We all know why.

Because Arte won't let him. Which makes him a coward.

Arte isn't letting him hire an AGM. Perry absolutely would hire one. His decision when asked was complete nonsense; every other team has at least one. It's obvious Arte won't pay for one.

Arte wouldn't let him trade Ohtani. Perry would have. But he is the GM, so he willingly take the blame.

Arte clearly cut him off this offseason. His explanation was again nonsense, not logic or reason.

Arte clearly is focused on financial aspects. What does Perry repeat like a good little boy 3-4 times a year? "Arte and Carol Moreno are great. Arte has set no limits and is competitive and wants to win."

Arte clearly won't let him sign actual MLB players, instead forcing him to pick the waiver wire. What is Perry saying? Nothing. Hasn't spoken about it at all. In fact, he's been in hiding.

Arte flat out disrespected the best player in franchise history by NOT making any moves to improve the team in the offseason, despite reports that Mike was more vocal than ever and was asking every day. Who had to answer for it? Perry. Again, not a single word about Arte, just more nonsense.

Who do you think the directive to draft quick-to-the-majors players came from? We know who would make a suggestion like that -- forget the farm, sell out to win. So 3 straight years under slot with our 1st round pick. Rushing guys to the majors, with bad results. Did Perry put his foot down to restock the system? No.

Perry has covered for Arte for years. And I get that that is most likely what the job of a GM under Arte looks like. But no self-respecting person is going to work like that AND take every single piece of the blame. This happens because Arte never once explains anything or says, "No that was my call." He is happy to let Perry take all the flak. And if that was my boss, I'd quit. Perry looks like a foolish, incompetent, terrible decision maker. And if a lot of that is out of his control, it's better to save your dignity and a shred of your reputation than get fired, inevitably, for not getting results when it wasn't in your control, and have to work as an AGM for 3-4 more years before you can get another job.

Yes, I understand what you're saying sir. But, this is a Wendy's drive through...

    8. Angels: JJ Wetherholt, SS/2B, West Virginia (No. 8)
Hamstring issues kept Wetherholt off the field for a chunk of this spring and it’s concerned some because it’s a recurring injury. He spent last weekend at shortstop and assuming he hits like he always does once he gets going, he could sneak back up into top-five talk easily.

    Another guy with Hammy issues!

This doesn't fit neatly anywhere, but didn't necessarily feel like it deserved its own thread...But I was just thinking about all these random guys the Angels have been picking up recently.  None of them can be optioned without passing them through waivers, so I'll be curious to see what happens when some of the injured guys start coming back.  It might not even be an issue, since it's entirely possible that they'd all pass through waivers unclaimed--but as far as I can tell, Calhoun, Tucker, Guillorme, Adrianza, Pillar, and Fulmer are all out of options.

They're just collecting a paycheck as our guys come off the DL they will be DFA'ed or flat out released.

These scrubs aren't staying, they're serving a purpose... 30-60-90 at bats and back to obscurity!

    It's 1980! Again....

It's really not about winning this year. Player development to see where team is at. We know 5 young position players we are watching and young starters. Trade deadline many will be gone and just maybe Angels can find a player or two that can help in next year or two. Same with this years draft hopefully find some players who could help. Changing this team is at early stages and a BIG opportunity missed by not trading Ohtani. Who knows if new GM, manager or owner coming in next year. No matter what happens I will watch and root for the Angels.

I know of Nemo, Schanope, O'Sloppy and the Pop Star? Who am I missing... Trips?

    For being too sanguine?

No, I just looked at the large picture. Lost your #1 TORA (even if he was out this year. No replacement was brought in). Lost same player MOB didn't replace that position either. They counted on a guy with injury concerns who burned them the last 3 seasons. And their other Star is sliding...They dumped $ into the bullpen. Which isn't bad if you have the rotation that doesn't burn it out. And your rotation has continued to be consistently, inconsistent. For the most part, the lineup once the 2 star paid players went out again is anemic in producing any kind of consistent production. Some of the parts did well early. But, aren't the players that can be expected to carry a lineup. Ward is a great 7-9 hitter in a top lineup and a horrid MOB for us. Will avg 260-280 10-15 HRs 50-70 rbi. He is the LA equivalent to Frosted Tips.. He just isn't the type of athlete that can carry a team. He's a good support guy a right handed Kole Calhoun!

There wasn't anyway to even improve all of it through FA this last winter. A few parts could have helped. But, they would have needed to drop another 65M AAV in the rotation (Snell is already out). And another 60-80M for the lineup and the bench.

None of the Prospects dealt last winter would have helped this year 24 or in the next three seasons.

I could go on. Meh, why bother. We're burnt toast waiting for the owner to sell.
