    I think the Angels would do it in a few years if Trout maintains this production. They would probably backload it to avoid most of Albert's heinous contract, but I think that figure is fair.

    All of the albatross contracts (with the notable exception of Pujols) will be off the books by the time Trout can leave as a free agent. They can spend the money if they really want to keep him long-term.

    I just checked Cot's. The Angels owe 106 million to five players in 2016. This doesn't even factor in Trout, who will likely earn a fortune in arbitration. This is a mess.

    Obviously this doesn't work like basketball, but what's the point of watching the Angels limp to 80 wins? The focus should be on 2014.

    The Orioles stole Chris Davis and Hunter for Uehara. I'd rather gamble on a prospect or two than watch Downs walk.

    Getting a better draft slot is a better proposition than the .000001% chance we have of catching Oakland.

    My dream scenario is the Angels get something for Downs, shut Albert down for the season, and tank for a draft pick. They can still compete in 2014 if they don't screw up another offseason.
