  1. Vancouver/ Chicago are going to be real tough in the playoffs. Blackhawks are unreal right now. But, like last year, it's all about who gets hot at the right time..........just get a playoff spot (even the 8th spot!) and get after it. Of course, last year, the Kings were the 8th seed but I didn't really consider them that - the late (last game or so) season loss to San Jose dropped them from a third seed to an 8th seed overnight. Kings still need to pick it up -- who's tonight? Nashville? Let's get 'em.
  2. that Detroit win sort of makes up for that bad road loss to the Red Wings -- the game where we tied it up with about something like 45 second left -- headed to OT and at least a point if we somehow lost in OT......instead, the Red Wings score the game winner with 6 seconds left and we get zip...demoralizing loss -- but then the wins in Alberta and the play since then.........headed in the right direction now --- we'll see how we do with a real test tonight -- the Canucks.
  3. Penalty shot -- No go. Dustin Brown. Oh well. Have them on the run -- Dustin just missed the angle there.....had an slight opening......
  4. just ordered my Fanfest 2013 t-shirt - it should arrive in time for the Tempe festivities! Wow. This Fanfest event is going to be the biggest yet -- not sure if we can even do a group photo!
  5. Well a win for the Ducks would be real nice for them -- a win for OUR Kings tonight is essential -- given the slow start. Is anyone going to beat the Blackhawks?
  6. what's the "zero' warning point notice under the number of my posts ? I feel like I'm one check away from the penalty box or something......
  7. Well, nice to see Conger do well......what was the weather like for today's game in Peoria -- on TV Sunday's game the folks in the stands behind the plate looked miserable........and those seats were pretty empty by the fifth inning.........looked windy and cold....... got the avatar up -- thanks, Nate!
  8. Nate: thanks - I will try to bring that avatar over using your advice. Thanks. Kings tie it up on Penner goal, 2nd period. 1-1 Ducks/Kings......GO STANLEY CUP CHAMPION KINGS!
  9. 'when all else fails --pull the hot chick card....." LOL! Seems to work virtually every time......
  10. OK. the one hold out who hadn't responded finally reported in. He's coming back so that ONE potential spot to be filled is not available.
  11. maybe we could trade Wells for Juan Rivera? Rivera was on MLB.com interview today talking about the Granderson injury. I guess Juan Rivera is someone the Yankees are looking to, to 'step up' No wonder Wells is being mentioned then. Mr. Juan "GIDP" Rivera. His running speed is deceptively slow.........he's actually much slower than he looks like when he's running and he looks slow. A glance at him and you wouldn't place him in the category of having the base running speed and skills of a LF type guy who should be DHing or maybe playing 1B and hits for power. Rivera is that guy WITHOUT the power -- same level of outfield D as that king of guy, though. To be fair, Juan Rivera did hit some clutch HRs for the Halos during his time here and had some clutch hits and RBIs......but GEEZ was he slow.
  12. the 1995 line-up before August 15, 1995 (about when DiSar went down with season ending injury and Halos tanked -- went from 11 games in front to losing playoff game in ill fated game at Kingdome (was just a terrible venue for baseball) that still replays in my mind.........
  13. Take the advice listed above -- AND -- have girlfriend go to rail unaccompanied by you.....chances of her getting autograph go way up. when my kids were little league age, they wanted autographs -- they quickly learned to stand next to best looking 18-20 something there and each would play off the other to get autographs -- gals would pretend kids were theirs or something and kids would be next to good looking gals.......players swarmed like moths to a flame.....worked pretty well. used to take my kids out of school for a day or two for spring training -- they received plenty of education despite not being in class.
  14. For those who care, and apparently few do, Halftime at Galen Center -- UCLA 47, USC 26. USC was actually holding the ball for the last shot of the half down 20 plus points.......
  15. Cold, miserable weather, Sunday afternoon game.......already off to a slow start........ they may be asking volunteers from the stands to fill in on the field by the time this one is over. either that, or they call it in the 7th inning.........(which they do sometimes in ST -- well, at least, no extra innings -- but if there's a 10 run lead maybe they'll invoke the little league slaughter rule). I don't think any player within sniffing distance of even the 40 man roster will be in the park past 2 PM.
  16. Folks in the seats behind the plate look miserable watching this game........game is an hour old -- time for drinks and an early dinner!
  17. Is Scott Sizemore any relation to Ted Sizemore , former Dodger and Cubs 2B/MIF from the 70's
  18. meanwhile, at Galen Center, UCLA 26, USC 16 half way through first half.
  19. Looks like we have some potential takers for the one spot that may be available in our league. Taylor, please respond by Monday if you're interested otherwise, will look to yams12 and LBHalos17. We have six AW folks in the 8 team league now and One Dodger fan interloper who we all love to finish ahead of in the standings. One spot may be open if the team owner doesn't respond soon.
