  1. well, if you can't get the puck out of your own zone, it's sort of tough to score the tying goal.
  2. that short handed Detroit goal on the turn over sure hurts now. (Wings' second goal)..
  3. OK. Got one. Ducks need to get this game into OT........
  4. KINGS fans have started asking "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" C'mon Ducks -- power play now -- gotta capitalize here.....for the good of S.Cal hockey fans...........
  5. Watching Ducks-Red Wings game, third period about five 4 minutes plus left -- about time for them to play "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" over the speakers.......
  6. OK Ducks fans, in a land around here (actually, it was at the Fabulous Forum, I believe) not long ago, the LA Kings were down something like 5 to 0 in the third period of a playoff game..(wasn't Game 7 but it was a critical game, I think the Wings were already figured the game was over and they would be up 3-1 in the series).......Kings coach (can't recall who it was now, perhaps Melrose) pulled his goalie with something like 5 plus minutes left -- crazy -- but Kings came back to tie it up and eventually win it in OT....... So, it's getting down to the six minutes left mark here and the team are just skating back and forth not much attacking the zone going on........Ducks down 2, not really getting many chances, shots.........do you gutsy this one and do what the Kings did all those years ago --?
  7. If I am Detroit, I have my guys come out with our best scoring line to start the third - a goal during the first minute and a half power play of the third may just be the bad breaker that swings momentum so far it's out of reach -- and then there's Jimmy Howard sitting with a three goal lead......... Ducks need this penalty kill badly and then need to dominate play in the third.
  8. no score on the power play and now the Ducks down two goals start the third with about minute thirty or so of a Detroit power play --------way to turn a potential end of period momentum shift completely around. OUCH.
  9. Ducks need to pound the net -- they need at least five good shots on this power play -- what do they have now? One sort of weak shot? decent shot there but now it's going to be 4 on 4 skating.......bye, bye power play.........keep your cool guys. and it's no rookie, it's Selanne (in his last game?)
  10. Detroit is getting too many chances out in front of the net........not good....... now a power play, Ducks really need to capitalize here.
  11. geez -- both teams missed scoring chances there.........
  12. should have been a penalty on Howard for dislodging the net...........as someone here posted during Game 6, the NHL really wants the Red Wings to move on........
  13. hey, Ducks fans, you're playing the Detroit Red Wings from Hockeytown - they are ALWAYS tough. Ducks are in Game 7 on home ice in a back and forth series........can't ask too much more than that with these teams. Sure the Ducks have played poorly at times just like the Kings got out-played by St. Louis in several of the games in their series (including two games that the Kings won) -- but the Ducks have played the Red Wings tough and no one's slacking out there on the ice tonight.........that short-handed goal by the Wings on the turn-over hurts, though, but have to put that aside and play on........
  14. really want to see a Kings-Ducks playoff series.........Ducks came back from two down to force OT in Detroit, they can do that and more here. But. GEEZ, is Jimmy Howard tough in net or what? that second Wings goal on the short-handed turn-over stings.
  15. I guess the way it works is this -- if the Ducks win Game 7, we (the Kings, that's US) play the Ducks. If the Red Wings win Game 7, we play the Sharks. They're all tough, but with that choice, now I'm really rooting for the Ducks to win Game 7.
  16. well, the last two Kings wins were not exactly dominating wins........ I think the Blues out-played the Kings in Games Five and Six but the sign of a good team, a championship team, is a team that can pull out a win in games like those. St.Louis played very well. They've gotten a lot better over the season to the point they were really peaking at the right time. They played the Kings real tough in this series. Nothing for the Blues to hang their heads about. Good team, quality hockey players.
  17. you know, this is simply amazing to me. how does the umpiring crew miss this one? how does a major league manager not know this? the only aspect of the rule I am not clear about is it says the 'new' pitcher in this situation MUST pitch to one batter -- I've always thought the 'new' pitcher could make ONE pitch to the next hitter and then be replaced........I am not sure if that's the case, but I've always thought, if ONE pitch was thrown, then the pitcher could be replaced. Sosh was all over this one and it must have been completely frustrating to know he' s absolutely right and the umps are letting it go....... Glad MLB suspended the umpiring crew -- there needs to be some consequence. Again, I find this as another example of baseball fundamentals simply going by the wayside with the current generation of players, coaches, managers and, apparently, umpires, too. Oh well, maybe that Home run was ground rule double or something.........how about that blown call? what a week for MLB umps.
  18. KINGS WIN!!! All right, Ducks, Kings did their part to get the LA Kings/ Anaheim Ducks playoff series. Time for the Ducks to win Game Seven at the Honda Center...... Game 7 vs. Detroit is going to be an all out war.......... The Defending Stanley Cup Champions await the winner.........
  19. KINGS WIN !!!! yeah, pretty fortunate to win this game but the Kings did come alive in the third -- St, Louis didn't have many chances second part of the third. Quick made that one real stop when the Blues were all over the attacking zone DEFENDING STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!! Would love to see a Ducks/Kings playoff series -- Kings have done their part.
  20. PENNER!! LATE SECOND. VERY LATE!!! HITCHCOCK THOUGHT TOO LATE BUT JUST IN TIME!! Wow. Blues dominate the first two periods..........Kings come alive a bit towards the end of the second. Appear headed for a 1-1 tie at the end of two when PENNER UNLOADS a prayer that goes IN! That's sort of a morale crusher heading into the third for the Blues.......they've really got to brush that off and come out strong to beat the Kings at Staples.........going to be tough. by the same token, Kings have been out played most of the game and really need to use that Penner goal as a boost to turn it up for the third period and end this thing. Tonight.
  21. finally putting some pressure on here in the second............we're sort of fortunate to be tied right now at 1-1. we need to play like we did during the entire third period in Game Four.
