  1. Exactly. Look up team hitting and look at strikeouts. Angels #1 by a comfortable margin. Astros near the bottom in the league in strikeouts. Are the Angels just unlucky enough to have assembled a bunch of strikeout-prone hitters?? I don’t think that’s the case. The team fires their, WS-winning manager in the midst of a 12-game (at the time) losing streak yet this team strikes out like a fat, bald, drunk guy at a nightclub and their hitting coach’s job is safe? Do something perry.
  2. This team seems to play with the added burden/pressure of getting Trout into the playoffs. They don't seem to play relaxed.
  3. I was actually thinking about the team currently in first place in our division and I was wondering about their one constant during their run, the little guy, Altuve. Looking back now, wouldn't have been worth considering having traded Trout for Altuve (plus some other minor league talent) a few years back? Before I'm stoned to death on this board, think about it, that little guy can play and he seems to bring some serious intangibles to his team. They just win. Just a topic of discussion of course. I personally would be heartbroken if they traded Trout... yes a generational talent. Yeah, it makes you wonder.
  4. Yeah, I can see the argument for Adell not being a Gold Glove outfielder, but at this point, we're putting up with some offensive deficiencies from the guys in the lineup. I'm thinking a guy with some pop in his bat would make up for that. I was impressed with Adell's hitting with two strikes earlier this season. Let's face it, this team is not doing too well with two strikes.
  5. Outfield depth? There's this guy named Jo Adell who's in AAA. It's not like he drops every freaking fly ball that comes at him. It's what we get for having Perry as our GM...
  6. The reason I joined this site was to vent my frustration with the strikeouts. It's absolutely nuts! Our Angels now lead - comfortably - the majors in strikeouts. How do you fire Maddon but Reed has his job.
  7. The original point of this thread is keeping Ohtani an Angel for life. I want that. Let's be clear on this. Putting out that lineup while losing the first two games of a three game series is not consistent with a team trying to win a game while being 11 or whatever games out of first place. With an off day the following day. So, yeah, I have a problem with that lineup... ef the free shirt.
  8. So play Walsh. This team plays soft and the attitude is soft as well. I'm just sharing my disagreement with last night's lineup (MacKinnon at cleanup?). They NEEDED that win last night, that game was huge. Swept at home to a team 18 games below .500? Almost seemed like the team was okay with it. Not a fan of that lineup.
  9. A player that says that he wants to win? Look at him, he's a competitor. You can't be that good and not be a competitor. Sitting Walsh and Trout the game before an off day? Not consistent with being a dozen games out of first and trying to avoid a sweep at the hands of a sub-500 team. If, on the other hand, they were up 12 games, I would have been cool with the move.
  10. Last nights move of resting Trout and Walsh while trying to avoid a sweep by the Royals is inconsistent with a team 'trying' to win. Resting with an off day the following day? Ohtani is a competitor, he may not voice his displeasure because he's a class act, but that at least irked him, just a disappointing move by the team last night. Besides, didn't the team give the same treatment to Rendont? How did that work out? Again, looking forward to Fletcher coming back soon and maybe providing this team with some kind of 'spark' the rest of the season. Ohtani likes the vibes of this team going forward and Arte goes above and beyond in the offseason.
  11. Bring up Adell, so his defense hurts us a bit, this team can certainly use his pop. I think this team will get back some of what it's missing once Fletcher is back in the lineup. I'm hoping this team goes into the second half with both Adell and Fletcher in the lineup and if they don't make it with both of them in the lineup, the baseball gods are not smiling down on the Angels, Perry can start clearing his desk.
  12. It's always been mind-numbing to me that a team can pay a single player millions of dollars a year (Arte sure can), but doesn't shell out a fraction of that on assembling the best scouts possible. Why do we never read about poaching a top scout from the Yankees, the Astros, or the Dodgers. Wouldn't having the best baseball scouts money can buy eventually lead to the success every professional sports organization strives for??
  13. It sucks but Murf striking out the side in the top of the first is entirely possible. Still holding out hope for a win.
  14. The mariners starter for game 2 has limited action but in 24 innings has 29 strikeouts and allowed only 12 hits. Over and under on strikeouts by our halos boys? Strikeouts and hits?
  15. What is the deal with Adell? Really. What is going on with Adell. Why do we have the likes of Rengifo, Lagares and yes, Mr Strikeout Marsh doing in the lineup but Adell is in triple A? Could this be creating some quiet animosity within the team? I’m just searching for answers, this team does not suck donkey-balls this badly.
  16. I wouldn't call it a "fantasy scenario" it happens in a few MLB games during the season. I don't think it happens. I don't think this particular team has the moxie, the spunk, to stand up for themselves. There lies the problem. It would be nice if something like Trout shouting something to the opposing pitcher while he took first base after getting plunked. Again, I don't see that happening. As I had mentioned in my original comment, the next best thing is for Phil Nevin to get in the grill of the umpire/umpires a little like Earl Weaver used to and get thrown out. Something to instill a 'It's us against the world mentality'. Something! Yes, I completely agree, I hope last night's win is the beginning of a winning streak.
  17. That's the mentality that is keeping this team from being one of the elite teams in Major League Baseball. "oh yay, it's a win, woohoo, way to go fellas". Bullshit. Anyone think this Angels team would have won last night against the Yankess, the Astors, the Dodgers... well I could rattle off a bunch of teams. I know I'm not the only one that wants this team to make the playoffs! Just want to see this team play with a little more fire. Maybe Perry needs to trade for a guy to ignite something in the clubhouse. We could use a little more Darin Erstad on this team.
  18. This team needs a brawl. There I said it. A new guy here, and I've watched a few games in my days. A good old-fashioned benches clearing brawl with some torn jerseys, and maybe a bloodied lip, that will wake this team up from it's slumber. Ef this one-game-a-time or it's-a-long-season nonsense cliche bullshit. This team needs to wake up and play with some kind of passion. My preference is for a brawl (no one gets hurt as pro baseball plays can't really fight), but I would also take Phil Nevin go all Earl Weaver or Billy Martin and get tossed from the game with a suspension. That may also light something under our 2022 Angels.
  19. It would at least show a pulse. I just realized that this team does not retaliate when one of their guys are plunked. I don't know about Nevin but under Madden, it was 'just take your base'. I think a GOOD benches clearing brawl would do the trick, it would wake some of these guys up from their slumber... hoping form a brawl tonight with the Mariners!
  20. They really need a spark-plug type guy to light something under their asses. A Tony Phillips David Eckstein type guy... in the worst way!
  21. 2022 Angels now lead the majors in strikeouts with 200, a nice cushion separating them second place Atlanta with 195. Atlanta, with all their strikeouts are on a 14 game winning streak. If this isn't on the hitting coach, then what gives? These guys being coached in any way?
