  1. Adell through today: A: 25 games, .326/.398/.611, 6 HR, 11-26 bb-k, 4-1 sb-cs A+: 29 games, .320/.356/.616, 9 HR, 6-34 bb-k, 7-0 sb-cs Total: 54 games, .323/.375/.614, 15 HR, 17-60 bb-k, 11-1 sb-cs Amazing consistency so far. The thing that stands out most is the drop in an already weak walk rate. Clearly he needs to work on being more selective, but it isn't like he's struggling doing what he's doing. He's only 19 and hopefully his walk rate will rise steadily; once he gets to Anaheim, he'll have the best mentor possible. Anyhow, there isn't a rush but there's also no reason to hold him back. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Angels promote Adell to AA Mobile after the ASB - assuming he keeps doing what he's doing.
  2. I like Rivas and think he'll be fine and at the very least a quality utility infielder. But I really wouldn't worry about protecting him on the 40-man. As others have noted, the team that claimed him would have to use a spot on the 25-man roster for a whole season. Rivas really needs at least a couple more years of minor league development, so that team would be negatively impacting his future.
  3. I'm thinking maybe he needs a day to heal up. I miss that .471 OBP...that was vintage Linda Carter beauty.
  4. Zach Houchins and Jose Rojas both hit 2 HR each for AA Mobile tonight. Trent Deveaux not faring well so far - hitting .167. Nonie Williams with two triples tonight. A rare feat.
  5. Fletcher is fast becoming one of my favorite Angels. He's a gamer and is one of those players who will be more than the sum of his parts - like Eckstein at his best. I hope he sticks around, at least in a utility role.
  6. Anyone watched D'Shawn Knowles yet? He seems to have sneaky potential. I know he's only played three games, but a nice performance so far: 4 hits in 8 at bats, 2 doubles, 2 stolen bases, and best of all, 4 walks. The Angels may have two trios of stud outfielders in the future: Adell-Trout-Marsh Knowles-Deveaux-Adams
  7. He's working for Kuato's resistance on Mars.
  8. I heard he’s partnering with McKay Christiansen.
  9. He’s now a Chinese rice farmer in Yunnan Ghuanzhou.
  10. ^I forgot about Yunel Escobar...I guess no one signed him as he hasn't played this year. The piece?
  11. Just this year, for a month or two, to give him a taste of the majors but also limit his innings.
  12. Nice write-up Scotty, but this part surprised me. You think Canning will ALWAYS be a part-time starter? If so, that is hugely disappointing and seems a bit extreme. I was under the impression that the limited innings were only for this year. I also see slightly higher upside: good #2, borderline ace. Your #2/3 is what it was before this season and I’ve seen enough to bump him up a bit.
  13. Canning is really good, maybe the best pitching prospect we’ve had since Jered Weaver (before Gumby phase). I really like the idea of a September, even August, callup to the bullpen.
  14. I'm going to say no to the suggestion to re-up Kinsler. I get it - he's a solid, average plus performer. But the choice is between giving him $10-15MM for a year--and he might insist on two--or rolling the dice on paying Fletcher/Fernandez league minimum to play 2B or 3B, with Cozart sliding over. That's $10-15MM that could be spent elsewhere - say, on a couple really good relievers.
  15. That's what she every otherwise-straight dude on Angelswin said.
  16. Bryce is now hitting .209/.347/.462 line, and 0.9 fWAR. Wow, what a disaster. Through 4/16: .315/.487/.778, 217 wRC+, 26.9 BB%/13.1 K% in 78 PA From 4/17-6/20: .181/.301/.377, 78 wRC+, 13.6 BB%/25.8 K% in 236 PA
  17. Perchance are you both members of Duran Duran? Roger, is that you?
  18. Here’s a thought on Canning. On the off chance that the Angels get a wildcard, he’d be an interesting choice to call up to start that game, because the opponent would have never seen him (or if when they call him up, just don’t start him against the Yankees or Red Sox so they don’t get a look at him).
  19. After 2015 I thought Harper had a chance of surpassing Trout as the best player in the game, and while Harper is still only 25, I don’t see that happening anymore. At some point Trout will be surpassed by someone, but it might not be until he is in significant decline. I’m reminded of the situation in men’s tennis, with Nadal and Federer back on top at age 32 and 36 and no one from younger generations really challenging them.
  20. The Canning promotion makes and seems to imply they want to see him in Anaheim this year.
  21. We’ll know more this offseason. If Trout doesn’t sign an extension after the Machado/Harper deals, them chances are he wants to leave or at least test the open market. It is unlikely that his overall value will ever be higher than after his current Greatest Year Ever. It could be the same in a year or two, but it could also drop if he gets hurt or has an off year. If he wants to be an Angel for life he will, or should, extend this offseason.
