  1. I know I'm going to get blasted, but here goes anyway... I am the greatest Angels fan in the world and the only one who's opinion about the Angels matters. If I think they did an awesome job then that's exactly what they did and anyone who disagrees with my assessment of the team is a ^(&ing moron. I like the fact that the Angels were able to put together an amazing run in the regular season because that's 162 games of pure joy, especially when the team ends up with a winning record because, in the end, people don't ask whether or not the team won the World Series, they ask who kicked ass during the regular season. Besides, since the playoffs are only a month long and the regular season is 6 months long, that means that the Angels are the best team in baseball in 2014. Besides, we don't see Angels getting paid to play in the post season, the contracts are for the whole year. Why should it matter that 3 games into the post-season the Angels are already out, that's only bonus baseball anyway. The team performed wonderfully all year long and there was never any doubt about who the best team was. The only real problem with having the best record in baseball is that, in effect, the season ends too early, they've already crossed the finish line at that point. If anything, we were robbed of any meaningful baseball in late September. And so, I'll sleep well tonight knowing that future generations will look back at 2014 and know that the Angels ruled the roost this year. And if you don't agree with everything I just said, you're a ^*&(ing moron.
  2. This is the exact thing that stat heads can't wrap their minds around. You can have all the TPLS's and PILP's and DMAQ's to rate players performances you want, but when it gets down to it, it's the teams that just play better together that end up winning.
  3. Damn it!! That was my first reaction too!
  4. Looks like the teams that had to bust ass just to get to the playoffs want it more than the teams that coasted in.
  5. Hands down the best game of the post season so far, and this has been a great post season so far!
  6. In the regular season, it's just one game. In the playoff's, however, it's different. Every success is multiplied, every mistake magnified. In the regular season, you have time to recover, in the playoff's it's win or go home. These are the moments that the players, coaches, managers, and owners work years towards; the players through years of training alone in the cage and on little league fields around the world, owners by opening up their wallets with decade long contracts, managers in acquiring the talent and the coaches in moving the pieces around for 189 games. It all comes down to October Baseball. It's not just one game, it's a lifetime's worth of commitment coming to fruition in one 9 inning stretch.
  7. When Gubi was "with the Royals" he would have said *coughcough*bullsheet*coughcough* If the dude waits until the 3rd inning to drop the "When I was with the Royals" ref, he's having a slow night. He pines for the Royals nightly, and usually by the second inning, but some nights he just can't wait that long.
  8. Gubi ain't torn whatsoever. He's already dusting off his KC lid as we speak.
  9. On my wall of Angels (yes, I have a wall of Angels here at my place) I have a stack of unopened thundersticks from 02, 03, 04 and 05. No, they were never used, ever. I never felt the need to bang balloons together to cheer on the Angels just like I never felt the need to have a rabid anthropoid prompt my support of the squad.
  10. The post game conversation is painful to watch! Pedro sucks as an English commentator.
  11. Yeah, yeah, so I spelled Mandatory wrong. I happened to have imbibed a bit tonight. What of it? That's not the critical question. I've never been a "stats" person, I'm more old-school. So I ask again, is this something that just seems like it happens all the time or is it statistically provable? Or is it something that there's just not the stats to say one way or another and we are just going to have to take on faith until proven wrong?
  12. About a dozen years ago or so, PercySquint and I were talking and we noticed a unique phenomenon in the world of Angels baseball. When the Angels scored 5 runs in any one inning, they seemed to win the game 100% of the time. We began calling it the "Mando 5". Stats geeks among you, is this an accurate stat? Have we blinded ourselves to the reality that it occasionally doesn't happen? Granted, if it's not 100% it's gotta be in the high 90's, so close as to almost being 100%. What say you, stat geeks?
  13. "Help the club anyway you can" - Campana 147 times during a 30 second post game interview. I think that was a new record! (It was awesome)
  14. I heard there's a guy here in Vegas selling a ton of his memorabilia stuff out of a hotel room. Someone should send him an email. Vegas....We got this.
  15. The woman was a ****, to me, personally. And no, I don't use that exact phrase lightly. Neither was it a one off situation. I met her 3 times, and 3 times she was a "See You Next Tuesday" to me. If there were anyone in show business that I ever met that I personally thought their removal from society would make a better planet, it was this broad. She burned so many bridges in the business that she was relegated to crappy Celebrity reality shows and a random nobody gives a **** basic cable show before she eventually lost her life at the hands of some 2-bit plastic surgeon. Seems appropriate, somehow. I'm glad the door hit her in the ass on the way out.
  16. FYI, as a follow up on this. We had some technical issues with the feed (it was on our end, not ITunes and Stitcher) where the shows were not updating properly to those services. We corrected the issue and those shows should be available in their entirety there so that you can subscribe. Also, for those of you that are interested in checking it out, we will be covering a $100,000 High Roller Event today at the Aria. They are saying they expect a $2-$3 Million prizepool, but there are some of us that think they are lowballing the estimates and there could be as many as 50 players (the Aria tournament director is keeping 5 tables open just in case which, on a Friday night in Las Vegas, is something you just don't do unless you're sure you're going to need all of them). If anyone has any questions, comments or suggestions of things they'd like to see in the coverage (other than photos, it's a no photography coverage), please PM me here and I will attempt to address it ASAP, which may actually be a couple of hours, since I'm going to be flying solo tonight so I apologize in advance.
  17. Sorry if this is a repost. Someone had some fun with some gifs, adding explosions to the video. http://imgur.com/gallery/yWxIx Only one sports related, this one:
  18. I over-reacted? 25 words is over-reacting? Jesus.....
  19. Stupid or troll or terrible posting for showing compassion for an injured Angels player who had to go to the hospital in an ambulance and saying that this discussion is far too soon to be had? Maybe you ought to look in the mirror about who's trolling...
  20. Wow, you people are some kind of cold-hearted. Richards is probably still on his way to the hospital and you're already talking replacement options? Just.....Wow.....
  21. Just as a personal aside, and when Mike reads this he may start to feel uncomfortable, but at this point, I don't care. I have seen the way that Mike speaks of this online community. He absolutely beams when the name Angelswin comes up. This place, and the people that inhabit it, mean the world to him. Every time we talk, and I mean every time we talk, the subject of Angelswin comes up. Mike is a diehard Angels fan, as I am, and Mike was the one that introduced me to this website and the community, and I thank him for it. Thank you, everyone, for your support of Mike throughout the years. Yes, we all know that Mike is a bit of an odd-bird, but one who is, despite any rough exterior he may have, one of the kindest, gentlest most giving people that I have ever known in my life and someone who I am proud to have been able to call a true friend throughout the years. Thank you all, Angelswin. Thank you all once again for bringing joy into Mike's life, and by proxy, into my own.
  22. Mike had this thread read to him at 3-4Pm this afternoon and was truly heartwarmed by the response. He sends his heartfelt thanks to everyone who has posted in this thread so far and to anyone who has sent prayers his way.
