At SS I would take the defensive wizard.   And Renifro has never shown the ability with the bat than Simmons.  Therefore the issue is mute.

Rengifo is an OBP guy with speed, Simmons doesn't focus on OBP, doesn't walk much and probably prefers to stay off the bases.  I prefer the former with less defense, Simmons also wasn't as valuable this year defensively as he usually is.

I would like to see us pay Bauer.  As for the rest of the rotation, I want to see what Detmers, C. Rodriguez, Sandoval and Barria can do over a full season.

I'm sure all of them can outpitch Teheran.  Richards could come in as a 4-5 starter candidate, and I would be OK with that, I think he could have a couple of good seasons left, working with Callaway and Maddon.

Do you not think clearly?  How many good pitchers do we have to shove aside before they build any confidence?  Why are we still rewarding players for success on other teams?  Richards is gone and it's time to move on.  Bauer is not coming here we can't afford him and it would make our roster the most bloated in baseball history.  So we can be the most expensive losers? I'm sure there's a reward for that.  The Dodgers will gladly give it up.

I'm not attacking you, but your idea.  Please explain how Bauer will repeat his performance here and how he will make us better as a whole?  And how that FA contract will look among an already bloated payroll.  Richards never earned his keep as an Angel and the window is shut, I'm sure he's happy as a clam playing for an exciting contender.

I like the idea of bringing either La Stella or Simmons back.  I prefer Simmons because Fletcher is a better 2b and would haveva great defensive infield.

If Rengifo has a 3 on-base game vs the Dodgers, I'll disagree and hope you change your mind too.  He still has a few games to really show who he is. And he has turned things up lately and is scoring runs regardless of getting hits, putting pressure on the defense.  We need a pest with a decent glove, not a defensive wizard that is mediocre with the bat and slow on the base paths (Simmons) and slowing down further.

  4. Man Chuck, I want to agree with you but his decisions on the surface and prior to hindsight looked reasonable.  The Dodgers really just showed up a little more than we did, even Kershaw got smacked around so it was one of those games where things happen anyways.  Even spooky Michael Mayers got smacked up.

I really think Maddon is the best thing to happen to this franchise since the last time Maddon was here.  The ship is headed in the right direction and land is ahoy.

I agree with this. I posted on the gameday thread last night that the Dodgers have had drafted/MiLB developed pitchers start 55 of their 58 games - Joe Kelley was an opener a few games ago and Alex Wood has two spot starts. The Angels homegrown pitchers have started only 20 of their 58 games.

It makes a huge difference to be able to have an ongoing flow of effective, cost controlled pitchers in the rotation. The Angels have not had that for a long time. They only took one pitcher (Canning/2nd Round) in the first two rounds of the 5 drafts from 2015 to 2019. Maybe it's changing, they took Detmers in the 1st round last year.

Yeah, the one benefit of the early draft is near to ready MLB pitchers, while the Angels were trying to steal every position player, it's finally starting to show up in the field but not nearly as much on the mound.  Bauer will not fix this team or put us over the top, it's going to have to be a team effort, no FA signing will do it tbh.

Show Arte that huge FA signings are for desperate losers.  Only sign players who have earned their keep.

  6. The Angels are not at their best with Pujols in the middle of the lineup, sorry I don't care how much success he's had on the Cardinals vs LHP.  The Dodgers put their best lineup out there with their best pitcher and their best closer, they played to win to help the Astros.  We are that lame where the Astros are better entertainment for baseball, yet we have "the best player in baseball" I'm tired of it.  Like stand back and look at everything at once, that's what I see.

Maybe we should cheat too, seems to only reap benefits in baseball.

  7. No, it's time to move on.  If they are on a team that is succeeding more than we did with them, we have little reason to lure them back.

It's time to give up the past, including the uniforms, team needs a new identity.  I really don't care if you don't care.

The Dodgers are stealing our fans at this point, it's time for drastic measures.
