Walsh is now a “star position player”?
Is a .971 OPS not All-Star level? Was Fletcher's avg not All-Star worthy?

I'm seeing a lot of talk about moving on from Simmons but not a lot of talk about how people expect to fix the defense if we let him go.
Simmons is becoming less effective defensively had a 2 error game this season. His bat is also mediocre and his OPS sub par, his price is just too high for similar production out of Rengifo. Simmons is also not an OBP focused guy like Rengifo who will be a nightmare on the bases.
-
We really need lefty bats, Jones is not someone to rely on as a starter going into next season with less experience. Rengifo has more MLB experience and is a switch hitter, he gets my call for starting 2b, Jones as backup.
-
Last thing we need are more star position players, if Trout, Rendon, Feltcher, Walsh aren't enough.... Some teams would kill for our lineup, yet we have to make it better and sacrifice pitching?

The only thing he would learn from you is that teenage girls demand a new wardrobe every year.
Alright well do you want me to put you on ignore? I welcome you to.

Then Maddon wouldn't learn anything.

Here it is: GASP

We need an 'eh' emote, neither agree or diagree. Maybe a flat hand like the 'iffy' gesture. I'll make the emote if you guys want I am a photoshop guru. I'll PM Chuck if I make a good one.
Blarg, I bet Maddon is going to read this entire forum this winter.

College near MLB ready arms that dominate hitters are some of the best, like Kumar. he could be ready in 2021.

And most draft picks aren’t good.
They are if those early picks are pitchers.

The only way Dombrowski comes over is if Arte backs off and let’s him run the show. Arte has been a hindrance from the get-go and he needs to allow the next GM to do his job. Dombrowski won’t take this gig if Arte wants to meddle.

That’s exactly what I wrote on one of the Angel facebook pages I belong to. Someone in the organization knows what they’re doing with a meager salary. And drafting players. I don’t want Dumbrowsky. He’s too old school. The game has passed him by. I’m wondering if the Angels had swept the Dodgers this past weekend would that have saved Eppler’s job?

Imagine this twist of events, Maddon becomes GM and Scioscia returns as manager

It probably hasn't sunk in for most of us yet but
Billy fucking Eppler is gone! holy shit!
Watch all the early praise around the incoming GM whoever it may me...

I'll give you this. Adell has one more opportunity to change my mind about how baseball players are judged on a hand eye coordination level, and his hands & timing suck so far. Prove his hands & timing don't suck or he will improve that aspect of his game and he might be worth keeping around. He needs to study Mookie Betts footage until he's confident he knows what Mookies timing techniques are. I think the hands need to loosen up more and his body needs to move less, that's kind of what Walsh did.
-
Scioscia had his last laugh with the Angels.
It's time for a new look, new uniforms, new everything. Out with the old blood in with the new, a transfusion if you will.
-
Football players have good physical ability too, doesn't mean they're inherently going to be good at any sport, let alone baseball. Michael Jordan should have been good.
-
He's an outlier in that he's a major league success for the Angels.
-
Very true, I flipped the head on that bit**
But to directly answer your question 'inside Pitch'
I think 100 ABs is more than enough to know if a hitter is going to be lost or intermittent success showing improvement, and in a normal circumstance he would have been be sent down 50 ABs ago. I think lost is a good word for his current situation.

In 6 years Adell will be Walsh's age. Do you at all believe their extended stays in AAA helped in their development? What's the number of at bats you're willing to give a guy before you label them a bust?
Adell has a lot of value, I agree. I believe I see less value then I am led to believe, a trade in this case makes sense on my end, a slightly lesser return in the pitching department could get a team to bite.
Marsh in my opinion will translate to the bigs quickly and successfully. His lefty power bat and defensive prowess being a big reason why.

You’re kidding right?
Ward is an outlier

My comment was on major leagues being only a small jump from AAA.
My point is that Ward and Walsh have translated from AAA to MLB rather quickly so it can't be that dramatic. Thus I think Adell would have struggled mightily in either league this season, if there were minor league games. He's having trouble making contact, period.
-
Okay so Ward figured it out, it's not that likely to happen again with a different person.

Bro....Ward had nearly 200 MLB PAs before this season and 778 PAs at AAA... Walsh had 652 PAs in AAA and Almost 200 in the minors.
Adell has had all of 131 PAs in AAA... Of course he looked lost....
Where do you see Adell in 3 years? All-Star? Is he even playing for the Angels?
I say no to both. This kind of bad start can really be the thing that either turns them on or completely off, we've had many prospects like this before, remember?

More like career minor leaguer with the build and brains of an NBA PG. He will only prove how he is in the wrong sport. Marsh is the future.
