  2. how about instead of trying to make our mediocre/bad pitchers seem somewhat good we just get actual good pitchers instead
  3. Not sure if this is considered threadworthy here? https://twitter.com/mikedigiovanna/status/1125853070955634688?s=21
  4. Cozart’s bat was never good outside of his contract year. Anyone who was expecting him to be a good hitter (though it’s of course reasonable to expect him to hit better than he has so far) was setting themselves up for disappointment
  5. Wells and Hamilton were actual stars at one point. Cozart has never been all that great except for his outlier, contract season
  6. Considering how many free agents we were in on/finalists for, but didn’t get, it makes me think Eppler isn’t willing to outbid other teams on premier free agents. I don’t see that changing with Keuchel, unless he finally woke up and realized the rotation is unacceptable
  7. I’ve only been here a day and I’ve already gotten blocked
  8. Nah, we aren't competing this season. Rather make a run at him in UFA.
  9. To get those kinds of player you need blue chip prospects going the other way, not just our extra players.
  10. He's been fine in AAA this season. I'm not suggesting he'd be an impact player but he has way more value to us than Stratton who no one would miss if he got DFA'd.
  11. Yeah and while he wasn't great in the majors last season, it might be kinda nice to have a lefty in the pen right now
  12. Trade never made a lick of sense, just like the rest of our pitching moves last offseason.
  13. I want to start off by saying this is not something I'm entirely sure I'm in favor of, but the Reds releasing Matt Kemp made me think this. Cozart has been incredibly underwhelming and downright terrible this season, did not contribute much before being injured last season, and we have a plethora of infielders that might be MLB options before his contract ends. (La Stella, Fletcher, Rengifo, Jones, Simmons, Thaiss, Ward, etc). I'm not entirely sure I want Cozart to be blocking some of these guys just to gamble on him becoming somewhat close to what he was before his anomaly 2017 season. He is still owed a bit more money that we will have to give him regardless, but at what point might the team decide he just simply isn't worth the roster spot? Might it happen some time this season? In the offseason? Some time next season? Or will we just keep him throughout the remainder of his contract?
  14. I’m as big of an Ohtani fan as anyone, but as should wait a bit before calling him an “impact starting pitcher”. All the tools are there and I’m almost certain he gets there, but let’s wait and see how he does when his arm is healed, and after a full season of starting.
  15. My first thread, thanks for all the replies guys. Appreciate it.
  16. Seems to me like under him the team has played with a lot less fire and energy since he took over. The guys don't look like they're enjoying the game as much as they used to. Sad to see? Has anyone else noticed this or is it just my Ausmus hate blinding me?
  17. I'm not sure how anyone can still support Eppler after the pathetic rotation he has put together all these years after his tenure. He hasn't added a single impact starting pitcher in 4 years, despite it being the main issue with the roster since he took over. Horrible performance as a GM. No excuses for this to be the rotation we have out there with the budget capability we have, and with Trout in the middle of his prime. If he doesn't want to do what's necessary to give us a somewhat decent rotation, he needs to be replaced with someone who will.
  18. Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. I've heard a lot about it and after several visits, I've decided to make an account of my own. Hope to have a lot of fun here!
