Jesus Christ. I just went through Parker's year, and it was one of the most insane things I've ever seen.

Parker gave up two runs in a game on 4 occasions.
He gave up three runs in one game.
He gave up four runs in one game.

    So, six bad games.

In his other 65 games...(92% of his appearances)...
62.2 IP, only 25 hits, 4 earned runs, 14 walks, and 79 strikeouts.

That's an ERA of 0.54. Opponents slash against him in those games? .093/.141/.150/.291. A WHIP of 0.62.
    An H9 of 3.4, HR9 of 0.6, a BB9 of 2, and a K9 of 11.3.

    Holy shit.

Felts as if most of those runs came when he was overused,  Similarly to Alvarez last year.

  2. Lets just consider how our Roster is stacked up for now..

Of- set solidly with Upton-Trout- Calhoun.

SP- if healthy and our starters get back to there pre-injured forms, we are stack up nicely with  most of the contenders in the AL.

Bp- add a few peace and if the guys don't get overworked, its good as anyone else.

If- set with Simmons, and Valbuena, left is 2nd and 1st,

This is were it gets interesting, depending on who billy gets for  2nd base will determine if Cron stays or Not. if its lefty, Cron stays , if rightly second baseman is signed or traded for a lefty is brought in for 1st.

likeliest solution for seconds- we trade for Dee Gordon or sign Neil Walker, leaving cron at first.

Yes i know that billy's may goal this year is to improve Obp and that Cron may not be the solution at 1st. Personally, Crons value on defense and offense will be more value than any of the 1st base free agents that we are targeting.  Secondly, 1st base wasn't the only place that needed work done, Lf, 3rd DH and second i'll include Rf as well. We solved LF, given that Calhoun had core surgery last year he should bounce make, Dh is still a question mark similar to 3rd.

With a rebounded Calhoun, addition of Upton, an improving Simmons, a non-tired Maldonado included with Trout, we are looking at a much deadlier offense  now, include an improving Cron ( every year he has shown improvements. did hit a little snag last year but mostly likely do to valbuena) in to it and we could have have a top 5 Line-up in, with a top 5 BP and  a top 6 rotation in the Al .

I'm guessing a PED issue that is known by the Dodgers and they figure he was headed for suspension.

Either that or Puig was going to file a #metoo.

a few things that could have been it are:

    1. Dodgers felt like that they didn't have room for him or w/ Tuner,Seager, Forsthye...

    2. arguments going on between team mates or player- coaches. He could just have been angry for not being called up last year.

    3. coming into last year he only had 37 career hrs, than hits 16 could be PED or a power spike.

I hear you on that and you're right.  But teams will always come up with something unique that "sells" the team to a player, right?

For example, Art'e pitch to Albert was the 10 year services contract after his 10 year playing contract where he'll be working with the Angels in some fashion, be it scouting, coaching, front office, or broadcast.  The idea here is that Albert Pujols and the Angels would be synonymous, not just as a player but as a person and presence. That spoke to Albert and is at least part of the reason why he chose to be an Angel rather than a Cardinal or Marlin.

I can envision the Angels or some other team offering Trout a post-retirement spot in a front office with the option to return to the dugout in a capacity he chooses upon the completion of his playing days.

Oh i definitely think that Arte going to make a pitch to Trout after he retires. Also another think to consider is, the type of money a player wants depends on their own personalities or ways. We have guys that just care about money ( Greinke), we also have guys that take less money  and care about winning ( Weaver/Upton). To me Trout fits the second group of guys and at the end of the career he'll get the money and also hopefully win something with us. 8- 10 yrs for 175-235.

Whitley is a nice player.  Probably cracks to 100 on most lists this year.  His bonus was half mil over slot and Thaiss was half mil below.  A million dollars in slot money changes the entire complexion of that draft for us.  Likely means no Brandon Marsh.

But yeah, the Cron over Gray thing sucked.

We can't always get the right players. The under slot money with Thaiss not only helped us get Marsh what also Rodriguez( who i think may have a similar ceiling to Whitley),Troy and also lund.

  6. This is how it's going to go down.

Marlins get- Castillo, Lund and Smith

Angels- Gordon + 1.2 mil intl money.

Than eppler going to trade a rule 5 pick for more intl money (200k) with that we'll have about 1.5 intl money and we are going to sign Ohtani.... killed two bugs with one stone.

Heck if the Marlins are asking for more and we have a clear chance at getting ohtani I'd put Wilkel Herendez in that trade but Marlins have to give more money.

  7. this a bit off topic, But it looks like the yankee's may have had an under the table agreement with Ohtani and with the stuff that happened with the braves, could this be a risk for the yankees.

and this is also JJ cooper's tweet-

Before today, I wouldn't have been shocked if there was an under the table deal in place for whichever team signed Ohtani (if he comes over). Now I'm not so sure. To do so, front office execs would be taking a huge risk"

Thaiss will be interesting, because if the Angels sign a 1B, there really doesn't seem to be much of a path, considering he could be MLB-ready by September.

I can see them switching him from 1st to 3rd this season.  should have the arm strength.

I would love that too but I would be stunned if we held onto all three long enough to see that happen, especially with our current OF locked up for 3+ years.

We will see at least one of those guys go before all is said and done, my guess.

I think we'll see 2 kept with us and one traded away. one to replace Calhoun and the other for LF after moving Uptoon to DH.

Well I think I was overshooting the mark a bit when I said Jesus Castillo and Chris Rodriguez.  That's a legitimate offer and if I'm to predict Dee sort of falls into our lap, it would probably be a better deal than that.  Probably Chris Rodriguez alone and the assumption of Dee's contract.

I love that Eppler has been frugal with our prospects, I hope he keeps it up because someday I'd really love to see Jahmai Jones, Brandon Marsh and Jo Adell all playing on the same team.

It would be amazing to see a line-up similar to this by 2020

    - Jones, Thasis, Adell, Trout, Marsh, Upton, Simmons, .........Etc

    and a rotation of -

      Rodriguez, Canning, Barria.............

You sound like you've been reading my scouting reports for the last couple years. Except I think you're waiting on something that isn't coming in regards to Castillo.

He was a high profile international signing with the belief that he would go from throwing 87-88 as a 16 year old to 95 as a mature adult. Only this didn't happen at age 17 or 18. By the time he was 19, he was throwing 89-90 and it just didn't look like a ton was left in the tank.

The Angels dealt for him in the Joe Smith deal more as an act of desperation or filler because he was buried on the Cubs depth chart. He pitched well, showed an advanced feel with his off-speed pitches and generated a lot of swing and misses. The Angels sent him a diet and training regimen over the winter to follow, and he did.

He packed on a solid 20 lbs, the Angels tinkered very slightly with his delivery (hips and thighs as I understand to take the pressure off his shoulder and elbow. It was a clean delivery but a player must still develop properly). Castillo started throwing 92-94 with his trademark command and pitchability.

But when you see Castillo's body type in interviews right now, he looks fully developed. If he developed anymore, he'd lose shoulder mobility and have to change things around with his delivery.

Yes I've read a lot of your report and i'm a big fan. I think your scouting reports are pretty accurate. On the Castillo's topic i did  not know that that he had fully developed oops. But i'm hoping your scouting report is wrong on this one and he surprise us (lol). But if not i think he has good enough control that he's similar to Barria.

    That's the general consensus yeah.

Personally i would rather keep Chris than trade him and hope that he learned something or makes the proper adjustments for next year. Quite frankly his number don't stand out that well but i check his FIP a bit ago and it was around 3 which suggest that bad luck was involved in his 6 ERA. In the starts that he did not struggle in, he pretty much dominated older competition. Like i said if he can make small adjustments next year, he has a chance to increase his value and  be a top 100 guys

    I'm thinking....

    1. We sign LoMo for 2/25 with an option to make it 3/40.

    2. We trade Profar for Jewell and Scribner.

    3. Dee Gordon falls into our laps for Chris Rodriguez and Jesus Castillo and the full assumption of his contract in January.

    4. We do manage to bring back Petit.

    5. Cron ends up being traded for a halfway decent but far off prospect in A Ball.

Yeah i think we may be giving to much in that trade for Gordon, i can see it for Hernandez but not Gordon. I'd probably start with Castillo as the main peace and than add a lower level prospect that's out of our top 20.

    1. 3rd base- moustakas 4yrs 62 mil with an oppt out after The 2 second year and 5 year option 17mil.

    2.  1st- Cron stays.

    3. Either we trade for kinsler for Smith and a low level prospect

Or we sign Walker to a 3 yr 36 mil

    4. Tyler Chatswood at 2 yrs 15 mil.

    5. Finish with getting petit( 2 yrs 13.64 mil) and Minor (3yr 20mil)

And we'll trade away Valbuena while eating 5 mil of The salary for a low level prospect.
