The losses actually don't bother me because Angelswin.com has been pretty entertaining during this season.

I am not a Scioscia fan (bunts, runnyball, etc) but I absolutely feel for him having to explain things 162 different times. It'd be exhausting. So he has a bag of phrases he uses to get through:
Turn the page
Tip your cap
The ball was/wasn't coming out of his hand well
Consistent

Simers goes into the locker rooms and consistently interviews his subjects, even when ridiculing them. He provides analysis, even when local fans might dislike it. Because he is always around his subjects, we find out stuff we might normally find out.
Ever hear anything interesting out of a Scioscia postgame presser? Ever?
Simers gets interesting sh*t out of even Sosh.

Not a big Arte fan. He's acquired players like he was one of these angelswin board members whose favorite season is hot stove.
Disney won a World Series championship. They established the uniforms which has stood the test of time - 12 years - an eternity in Angels history.
They remodeled the stadium.
For the reasons above, Disney is the gold standard for Angels ownership.

I heard that story years ago. Its funny.

And it is 'could have gone wrong'.

I beg to differ. The Cards KNEW this was coming and did little, if anything to offer him what he legitimately deserved. I truly believe he WANTED to stay in STL but when they didn't show up, he listened to other offers and Arte WANTED him. A guy like Pujols DOES have pride in his ability to be one of the best the game has ever seen. I 100% believe that he has way too much pride and integrity to ride the pine or bat .187 into June and collect $20+MM.
Looks to me like St. Louis knew exactly what he 'legitimately deserved'.

I think the biggest problems have been the injuries: Weaver, Pujols, Aybar, Callaspo, Bourjos, Madson, Burnett, Jepsen, etc.
Weaver was way less than dominating when he went down.
Pujols is of questionable age and medical history. Any injury from him can't be a surprise.
We signed Madson hurt/recovering.
Aybar, Callaspo and Bourjos injuries have hurt the team, but every team gets them.

i don't know for sure, but I think generally speaking, most big $$ contracts are. Don't think we'd get the full amount back, but at least some of it.
That is some serious cash. Insurance companies don't go into insuring $250 contract in the hopes of losing money.
If that thing is insured, what do you think the cost of insuring was? $75 mil?
-
Or if he is so severely injured that he can't play any more his contract would still be guaranteed but covered by insurance.
I haven't seen anything that that contract is insured. Not picking an argument, just wondering - do you know that contract is insured?
-
If the rumor is true that he wouldn't want to jeopordize his legacy.
If he wanted a legacy, he would have stayed in St. Louis, where he was a hero and won multiple WS. Instead he threw away his legacy, moved his family (or separated himself from his family) all to chase the few extra sheckels that Arte offered.
Dudes like that do not give up millions on the table.
-
At least negotiate a compromise, say pay him $10 million/season for the seasons he walks away from.
Why would Pujols walk away from 15 mil a year?
-
-
Let him rest before he gets the Barbaro treatment.

When he's lost Hamiltown....
-
When the Angels are this bad, and you have overpaid stiffs, its worse than just having a bad team with young, bad players (like the Astros)
There's almost a stench to it.
-
This isn't a joke, but I don't listen to am 830 from the last day of the season until Opening Day.
I gotta say I just discoverer the Travis Rogers show in the morning. He's good.
-
And it's already been noted that he came into camp last year under his usual weight because of whatever illnes/flu he had. He got his weight back up to his usual playing weight as the season went on
And kept the weight going in the offseason.

Where does Joe McDonnell work nowadays?

MT, I really don't feel like playing the always-horrible Lifetime game, but that doesn't sound like posters are pissed about Sosh saying something negative. It sounds like they are giving their reasons why Sosh gave that quote.

Frankie didn't give up an earned run for months when he came up in 2002.
I'm not giving Butcher any credit for Frankie.
