  1. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/05/angels-sign-doug-fister.html

"Fister hasn’t been pitching competitively anywhere and isn’t likely to be ready to step right onto a big league pitching staff."

"Fister could conceivably step into the spot of either Chavez or Meyer, though he could also begin the year in a long relief role if the Halos’ incumbent starters are performing well by the time he’s ready to join the staff."

  2. This might be a silly question, but one change Eppler has made throughout the system is providing better food and more dietary education to players throughout our farm system.  You could ask the players what the Angels organization has specifically provided in terms of food and nutrition advice.  Ask them if they've changed their diet over the past year and, if so, has it changed their game or at least made them feel better.  Is there a customized diet per player or is their a general Angels diet?

Another change was adding Trackman which provides some of the same data as StatCast in major league ballparks: spin rates, break and velocity for pitches, exit velocity for batted balls.

You could ask the coaches if there have been any additional recent changes to help the farm system pull out of the cellar.

  3. I'm also a optimist, but I voted pessimistic.

    The reason?

Our offense appears worse than last year, to me.  Its going to be the Mike Trout Show again, but with very little support.

Our pitching is a huge question mark with a large number of 4th and 5th starters.  There's a lot of sorting out to do to figure who's good and who sucks, and that takes time especially with Fat Man In A Little Coat pulling the strings.

The stellar defense will help but it won't be nearly enough for a playoff push.

    Crossing fingers I'm dead wrong.

With that said, I think we're on the right track of rebuilding and I fully support Eppler's vision.

    Go Halos!

  4. And in the meantime...

Heyman adds that the Braves have “tried to dangle” Erick Aybar in trade talks, but he has no value at this point and could simply end up being released, creating an opportunity for one of Atlanta’s top-tier shortstop prospects (Dansby Swanson and Ozhaino Albies).

Too soon to call Eppler the winner, but the trade is already starting to even out both short term and long term.
